QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 10:02 AM) I guess I don't understand the point of cherry picking a random 2 month stretch from last year to prove a point. Especially since the comparison shows almost equal results from the 2 players. It's actually this year, he just typed the wrong year.

I really like what I've seen from Viciedo. Small sample size I know, but I'd hate to lose him for a 2 month rental

I'm driving out to Chicago for a few days for that weekend so I'll be at the game (just my second White Sox home game)

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 10:30 AM) Makes what better? Just because he "killed more Russians" has no relevance. (But by the way, when you are at war with a country, that does tend to happen). There's just no reason to bring it up. It's almost as if he's using that to justify his belief that the Holocaust is overblown.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 10:21 AM) Bah, if he's this effective, I have zero issues with him playing this much. It's just like putting Quentin out there though. You don't want to lose your season because you don't have a backup plan. Agreed, but it would be foolish IMO to bring him back next season assuming he'll be as effective as he is now in his current role.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 10:03 AM) He was saying that Hitler besides killing millions of jews also had killed millions of Russians killed. Which is something that gets overlooked. Also alot American and British industrialists did support Hitler and other fascists of the time. Hitler, Franco and Mussolini were responsible for there actions, but you can't deny who helped them. Oh ok. That makes it better then.

I'm fine with Omar being brought back if he is brought back to do what he was supposed to do this year. That is serve as a defensive replacement/pinch runner late in games and to spell an infielder once or twice a week; not to play as much as he has been lately. The reason being is like Balta said, it would be asking a lot for him to produce for a full season like he has of late at yet another year older. Of course, I have no confidence in him being used properly if brought back next year...

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 09:21 AM) LOL, the team in first place "can't win this division". OK. Look, I want to see a better bat for DH, it makes the team better, but its kind of hilarious to say that a first place team in late July "can't win" their division. The current team in first can't win the division, we aren't good, someone should get fired if we only win the division by 1 or 2 games, who cares about winning the division, blah blah blah. Hilarious, ridiculous, annoying, whatever. We have obvious flaws, but we're winning and are in a good position. Some people can just never be happy about anything here.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 12:30 AM) If we lose this division or win by a game or two, it's because our manager and general manager came into the season with a glaring weakness that wasn't adressed. Someone needs to take the fall for that. I'd prefer us all to have a lot higher expectations for this team then the first round of the playoffs. We had all the pieces coming into the offseason to take this division by the throat and we didn't take it. If we win the division by a # of games you deem "too few" you want one of Ozzie/KW to get axed for that? Oh lord.

Didn't Gilmore win the HR Derby for the league though? From all accounts, he has power, it's just not translating into game situations.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) Do any of you have trouble with soxtalk freezing up with a driod? It's the only damn site that messes up on me, go figure. Just wondered if you all have the same issue. I have the Droid Incredible. It usually causes my phone to freeze, so I stopped even trying anymore.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) I don't think you get Fielder unless you give up Viciedo. And Hudson. And Flowers.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 01:57 PM) Also, is it worth noting to the detractors that even with the blowup, Jenks' ERA since June 1st is 3.00 and his WHIP is 1.00, with nearly a 5.00 K/BB? That's great and all, and your detailed analysis was interesting, but that doesnt change the fact that for the most part this season, he has not looked all that impressive or intimidating. And if you or anyone can say that you are perfectly comfortable with him protecting a 1 run lead down the stretch or in the playoffs, you either are lieing, are unaware of what true shut down closers look like, or don't care. That's not a knock on Jenks, it's just a statement of how he has looked this year.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) Javier Vazquez could take one bad inning out of all of his starts and he'd be a Cy Young contender almost every year. The fact that people would bring up Jenks' bad outings just says that Jenks is wildly inconsistent and can't be relied on at all times. See my sig

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 10:15 AM) Alexei Ramirez's WAR is now 1st in the AL among all SS. He's also third on the team among position players behind only Konerko and Rios. Alexei Ramirez has a +/- of +21. That is #1 among all SS in MLB and #1 among all position players in MLB. I knew Omar Vizquel was going to have somewhat of an effect on Alexei, but I didn't expect him to have THIS much of an effect. How much longer do we have him? One more year plus two arbit years?

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 09:42 AM) Cody Ross is only guy I can think of, that would be on the market. Maybe Ricky Nolasco as well, but I think that would only be if we send Hudson away in a diff. deal for a hitter. Possibly Taylor Tankersley.

People who don't live in NY seem way more sensitive about issues concerning 9/11 than people who live in the city actually are.

Sequoyah Stonecipher, Rowdy Hardy, Tyson Van Winkle and Sugar Ray Marimon are probably my favorite.
