QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 27, 2009 -> 02:43 PM) As a die hard Raider fan I'm blown away by their ability to draft. This has to be their greatest draft ever. I can't tell whether you are kidding or not (i think you are), because taking Heyward-Bey over Crabtree and then drafting Mitchell 4 rounds too early do not point to a great draft. Which as a die hard KC Chiefs fan doesnt bother me at all -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 09:54 AM) I'll just continue to side with the other 43 presidents on this one. You can keep using your asterisk based rationalizations for immorality. LMAO. I love irony.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 04:04 PM) I'm angry KC didn't' pick Curry. Wasnt around this weekend to comment but I am as well. I was pissed when they bypassed him for Tyson Jackson. I thought the rest of their draft was pretty much crap as well. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 27, 2009 -> 07:55 AM) I'm happy to say that I never soured on BA. Same here.

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 12:08 PM) or he wants to leave before UCONN gets buried by the NCAA. I dont think anything major is going to come of it. Miles was a UConn student for one week. Calhoun has never had any problems before and the main culprit now coaches at Quinnipiac. If anything, it will drag out for a long time and I expect Majok to only be there for a year anyways. If he leaves now, he is taking a HUGE risk. Calhoun and staff have consistently made big men at Uconn better than when they came in and into NBA players. Majok hasnt played in almost 2 years, there is little to judge him on outside of what he did against much less competition. I really think he NEEDS at least one year at college to prove himself. He's been through so much in his life, it'd be a shame if he hurt himself by staying in the draft this year, IMO. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) Could we have gotten that information without torturing, er, sorry, "enhanced interrogating" them? Was the "harsh treatment" really necessary to get the information? Unless you're Sam Beckett, that question can never be answered.
-
QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 09:38 PM) Anyone mention yet how the Obama administration only released the papers showing what type of interrogation techniques we used, while they refuse to release the papers showing how many lives were saved and terrorist attacks were stopped because of these interrogation techniques. That's kinda odd, huh? I agree with your premise that they are cherry picking what they want released, but the bolded there really is an unquantifiable claim.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 11:31 PM) More coming. The ACLU's lawsuits are paying off in droves. From the article you quoted So why are we going to release them? I mean seriously. I understand the premise behind what this administration is doing here. I don't agree with it, but I at least can understand it. This I just don't get. Is it really worth exposing our troops to possible "backlash" just to try and prove a point? Edit: Read too quickly. So it's the ACLU who is pushing this forward, not the Obama administration. Still, though, the article makes mention that the officers responsible were court marshalled. Isn't that the proper protocol? If the defense officials feel that this could be problematic if released, the Obama admin really needs to work to classify these documents. My opinion.

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 10:37 PM) Ater Majok declares for the NBA Draft. He'll be back. He's doing this to gauge where he is with his game so he knows what to work on next year. For UConn to have a high degree of success next year they need him to come back. Also just heard UConn will play Kentucky in December for the SEC-Big East Invitational. Unfortunately Majok won't be eligible until a week later. Would have liked to see him in that game, assuming he does in fact come back. -
QUOTE (Chet Lemon @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 11:19 AM) The offense should kill tonight. Eaton's stats for the last four years--including this one--have been awful.

Should KW take a flyer on an old nemesis?

I'd say yes. Byrd has been living on his mid-80's seemingly awful stuff for years now and keeps demonstrating that he is a pretty reliable 4th/5th starter. If we were to sign him as a 5th starter I'd be for it. He couldnt cost too much. -

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 03:00 PM) Tony Gonzalez traded to Falcons for a second rounder breaking news on the top of ESPN.com Good pickup for them f*** f*** f*** f*** f*** f***. For a second round pick next year? That's it? f*** this team, i'm so sick of them. Curry better fall to us at 3. -
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) Our methods are definitely less direct, but to say people haven't been killed by the Western world for ridiculous reasons is a lie. But it is not government sponsored. We left that stuff die out (no pun intended) in the 17th-18th centuries.
-
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) Right, I understand that. But wars now also call for a hell of a lot less people because of the technologies involved. Exactly. For example, when you can build a weapon designed to not detonate until it is "safely" inside of a building, thus causing an implosion of the structure and limited outside damage. Also, UAV's.
-
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 03:39 PM) Whoa, here we go with isolated incidents. This can go both ways you know? Isolated incident? This wasn't some tribal event. They were sentenced by the Court system.
-
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 03:27 PM) Yeah but Khamenei is pretty forward-thinking, didn't he push for Iran to legalize stem-cell research before the United States? There are quite a few checks on him, he can't just do whatever the f*** he wants. Plus there's a Parliament which still handles almost all of the legislature. So Iran is forward thinking, yet they publicly executed two teenage boys for being gay last year?
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) I don't really think so though. It's capabilities vs. intent. Do you assume that Iran wouldn't be deathly afraid of retaliation from Israel (or the US, or the UK, or France, or whomever)? Well I'm pretty confident it wouldn't be France, haha.
-
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 03:17 PM) Most of you are so programmed with the "axis of evil" drilled through your thick skulls that you can under no circumstances view the international system from the lens other than that of an American. It's really a waste of my time to even argue this point. Oh no but then what would all of us do without your superior wisdom?
-
QUOTE (YASNY @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 03:05 PM) In all honesty, though I don't agree with the basis of caufield's arguement, I do recall Ozzie commenting on the fact that Contreras held back info that he wasn't 100%. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I can't recall ever hearing that. Even if true though, Contreras having good stats in the early months was the main point, and that obviously doesn't have anything to do with an injury. That's all.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) Oh that is complete bullplop. Being stupid, perhaps. Yes Kap, don't you know it was the evil Bush administration that arranged 9/11?
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 01:05 PM) Yes, BUT... You're also leaving out many important facts. 1) Konerko was fighting a hand/wrist and later an oblique injury at that time...early in the season...so obviously he would not do as well. Doesn't that follow? 2) Contreras was battling an injury after that Reds game in May or June of 2006 that broke his consecutive victories streak. He would never be the same pitcher with the White Sox. 3) Contreras was also fighting through injuries/health concerns last year but did not take them to Cooper and Guillen...he tried to pitch through them. All of those exigencies corrupt your example. Oh the irony... You are the one who brought up the Latin American players example. He was pointing out examples to counter that claim. And as for point #3...how do you know that? Talk about manipulating an argument to try and make a point... Oh, and exigencies?
