This is a very good trade. I am not a huge fan of Contreras, but Loaiza has been horrible. I really think Contreras will do a better job than Este has. Also, with the pressure of NY gone, he does have a lot of upside. I'm not too optimistic about him fulfilling it, but i'm sure he'll do at least a solid job for us. Plus, with Loaiza a FA at the end of the year i think we shored up our rotation for the next few years

going 12-18 for Minny in that stretch is very possible. That is a brutal schedule. Its true they have it tough, but we are gonna have to play a hell of a lot better

I doubt Kazmir would have been offered for Loaiza. But, if he was, i would have done that trade in a heartbeat

Ya and the rest of our team has been coming through in those situations too rolleyeyes.gif

3 Way Deal Bosters Both Major and Minor League

The big BMets fans in my area are gonna be pissed. Losing Diaz, Peterson, Huber and Kazmir all in one day. Kazmir, by the way, is gonna be a freaking stud. I saw him pitch last week and he was absolutely phenomenal -

Ya, this is one of those few deals that really help both teams out -
Arbitration eligible at the end of the year, we wouldnt have signed him anyways, and we have better pitchers with better futures (Willis, Beckett, Burnett). This also frees up money to go after Pavano in the off season

This is an awesome trade for Florida. With Castro down and Redmond not playing too well they needed a catcher. Also, Conine has been pretty bad all year, which is where Encarnacion comes in. They have friggin Koch as a setup guy, so Mota is a blessing. They traded one prospect, Choi and Penny. Penny would have been after the year anyways and Choi can be replaced. They still have Jason Stokes down in Carolina and Conine and Lo Duca can also play first base. I dont see how the Dodgers got the better of the deal. The Fish have plenty of candidates to fill in for Penny(Alvarez, Howard, Wayne)

OMG that site is hilarious. Tell him to jump into the wall

Congrats to Whisler for his first professional Home Run. Are they serious about playing him both ways though? Like do they plan on letting him do it all the way through?

Cw, you really should go over the original point again. You may be right in what you have said, but like Kap said, that wasnt the original point. That's all they're trying to say. It doesnt appear that they are trying to attack at all.

But major league baseball has no way of knwoing either. So they cant justify accepting whatever ARod tells them unless Varitek had the same story...which i would doubt if it incriminated himself
-
What SS said is correct. We have two teams here, the Senators (AHL) and the Mets (AA-EL). There is ownership of the franchises that the person/group allies for to the league. After approval they are granted a franchise but they then must search for affiliation agreements with a major league club. Major league clubs try to look for close places but there arent always available.

But there is a M E

I agree. I am thoroughly sick of waiting. I LOVE baseball and football and between the Chiefs and Sox i have had nothing but frustration in my 21 years. I would like nothing more than for one of them to win. HOWEVER, I look at our team right now and we have problems on offense. Thomas and Maggs are out. We cant replace them through trades. All we would do is improve our team, but IMO not enough of an improvement to matter. We would lose probably two or three of Anderson, Diaz, Borchard and Sweeney should we go after Beltran, Finley and/or others. IMO, with this team right now, we would be going on false hope and at the same time sacrificing for years to come. Its unfortunate b/c with Frank and Maggs we are one or two moves from WS contenders. But i just dont see it in this team. We cant get a clutch hit to save us, we're hitting around .220 for the month, our pitchers have been on and off this year and we fail to make the fundamental plays. We hurt ourself too much. Unless something major changes, i am very pessimistic about our chances. But thats just my opinion on it

If you feel like blaming someone blame Ozzie. Dont blame Ross for doing what he was told
-
Oh ok. But still, as a team we've been so s***ty as of late you cant put all the blame on him. We allowed 3 runs. There is no excuse to score less than that against the Tigers
-
Why? Our chances of winning this year and right between slim and none right now whereas we have some very good prospects down there. With Maggs and Thomas, yes we could go for it more. But we arent gonna be replacing those bats and our team is so horrible right now that IMO i dont think it's worth it

I just got home...what did Jose do today?
-
Is ARod a f***ing moron? He mouthed "f*** you" to Varitek twice and motioned with his hand to "come on". What a joke. If baseball reduces his suspension at all then they are retarded. Also, Sturtze grabbed Kapler from behind, around the neck in a headlock and pulled him away and yet they both get the same penalty? Ok...
-
I noticed it too. We are getting very good attendance this year but we are rewarding them with bulls*** efforts like today. For a team who has struggled with attendance in the recent past, we need to capitalize on this. Playing like s*** for several straight days is NOT gonna help draw crowds. And we know the only way JR makes any significant increase in the pay roll is if we draw a considerably larger amount of fans the rest of this year
-
See i dont blame Borchard as much as others. Borchard had a decent pitch to hit and he hit it hard. He didnt chase anything, and he made solid contact. Only problem is it went right to Koskie. Jose was horrible. We had 6 hits/walks in one inning and only scored once? Who else could manage that but us? Borchard didnt get it done, but there are others who had a worse game
