GT: Texas Rangers @ Chicago White Sox
ChiSox_Sonix replied to justBLAZE's topic in 2012 Season in Review
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 10:00 AM) Day games are just wonderful work amusement, that is all. This. Afternoon goes by so much faster -
Salvador Sanchez up in W-S now. Any word on his stuff? I know when he was an OF his arm in RF was said to be pretty good
-
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 03:18 PM) I'm curious about this guy's story. He's already 28, so he's paid his dues. That usually indicates one of two things: 1) no stuff, and/or 2) no control. However, if he has 99mph stuff with his K/BB ratio, what the hell took so long? Injuries

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 12:53 PM) I wanted PJ3 to fall to the Bulls so bad. I think he's a top 5 talent in this draft. Yeah I got back from our softball game last night, hopped in the bar around the 20th pick or so and was shocked he was still there. He was a top 10 pick for me. I think OKC got a major, major steal (which royally sucks)

Another player coming up from the worst farm system ever? We're doomed!
-
Any word on why Jared Mitchell and Carlos Sanchez left their respective games early?
-
Just call him The Gladiator

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 12:20 PM) And their pizza sucks. Well, that's false

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 08:53 AM) Is there any talk to rid soccer of penalty shootouts? Deciding major championships on penalty kicks is just absolutely ridiculous. And it also encourages team to not attack at all, because their odds may be better in the shootout, which makes for awful soccer. I'd be in favor of adding a second extra time which was golden goal, but there comes a point when you finally just have to go to penalties -
I'd totally be willing to call Septimo up and see how he does. Lefty has been very good down in Charlotte this season
-
I'd take Sale out here
-
Danks with his 1st major league RBI
-
That was quite the at bat from AJ

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 12:52 PM) Depends on the health of one John Danks and Phil Humber. If those guys are ready soon, I'd be fine with it. I don't see us having a chance of winning the division if we depend on Quintana, Axelrod, and another minor leaguer. Also, Sale and Quintana may not last the full season due to innings limits

You thought Freddie sweated a lot before, just wait until he has to face Quetzlcoatl

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 10:34 AM) Not White Sox related but I really love tracking Billy Hamilton of the Reds organization 92-111 in steals through just 72 games... http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t...&pid=571740 Kid's only in A ball but I wonder if he'd be someone the Reds call up in September solely to use as a PR?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 09:43 AM) In every aspect of his game too. There is still the occasional brain cramp, but the guy is playing much harder, much smarter, and much better than he has for years. I think that's the key. Even if he was playing with the same effort and drive before, it just didn't always show. This season you can tell he's really busting it and get's visibly bothered when he effs up

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 12:14 PM) I will say I LOVE AFFC. I thought it started a touch slow but I love where it went. Alot of things happened just around the main plot, enough to make me interested in what was going to happen next. When I finish Dragons I am going to be so restless. Yeah I finished it about a month ago now and am already the same way

QUOTE (Lillian @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 11:37 AM) I knew that I would get torched for this thread, but then I remember tauting de Aza before, and more than anyone on this board. How did that work out? I said that I love Viciedo, but Johnson is probably a better hitter at this point in their careers. Viciedo has 4 doubles and 13 homers in the first half, and his OBP is just .300. That is easy production to replace. He's only 23, and has plenty of time to develop. Have any of you even looked at Johnson's split stats this year? Here are some points for starters. Versus RHP he has 50 walks and only 30 SO. His OBP is .467. His OPS is .1,122 He's hit for more power on the road than at home, so the argument that he's playing in a "band box" doesn't hold water. I know that he struggled the last couple years in the Majors, but he was recovering from a broken wrist. Right now he is performing at a level far to high to ignore. As far as Connor Jackson is concerned; Yes, I do think that he can still rejuvenate his career. Valley Fever is a devastating illness, and completely explains how his production dropped so dramatically. Remember, he was very highly tauted, and put up very good numbers in his first 3 MLB seasons, at a young age. And he is not too old to regain his former hitting prowess. NSS, Balta and myself disagree

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 11:53 AM) I haven't liked the way he's looked the last few games. He seems to be in that mode where he watches the first strike, swings at a bad one, and then has to swing at anything close. He looked pretty angry at himself last night, and I suppose that's a good thing. Last year he seemed more indifferent to striking out. I think he'll get hot again before cooling off...up and down. This cooling down period is getting a little long, though. I still think he'll hit in the .220-.229 range at crack 40+ HRs. Shhh. We're not allowed to complain about that
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 10:56 AM) If this bothers you, then you're also not allowed to enjoy the really good adam dunn home run bursts, because this is who he is. Wait, you're saying he strikes out and hits a lot of home runs? Sweet analysis. Of course, continuing to let pitches go down the middle of the plate over and over while your in the middle of a slump and giving yourself only 1 swing probably is still the answer
-
He might also want to stop watching pitches that are right down the middle and start swinging at some of them instead of waiting until he has 2 strikes
-
Because he isn't good /thread
-
I was thinking about where Youk would bat as well and I think it has to be 7 or 8. Beckham has really started hitting the ball well and I don't think you move him from the 2 spot where he seems comfortable and productive. I'd also rather not drop Viciedo below 7 so Youkilis really should be batting 8 in front of Alexei

2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
ChiSox_Sonix replied to DukeNukeEm's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I know this is several days after the fact, but thank god Miami won. OKC does not deserve anything good to happen to them. Miami winning isn't the best thing but it sure beats those OKC f***ers from being able to celebrate
