MUSIC
Otis Redding - The Definitive Collection Hanoi Rocks - Another Hostile Takeover Faces - the first one that is refered to as "First Steps" but in reality carries no name but uses the old band name "Small Faces" on the cover, and the picture is of the band sitting around Ron Wood reading a magazine (book?) with the title "First Step" on it.

Star Wars Training
Hey, I just remembered, wasn't that Star Wars kid supposed to have been given some VERY minor cameo in the new film just to make up for all of teh abuse he had recieved? Maybe he was in a crowd scene?

American Heroes
Ah, that's right, Django was a French Gypsy, and that is why I couldn't have listed him on a thread about "American Heroes"!!! I forgot that part of the title.

American Heroes
QUOTE(Yossarian @ May 26, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) I agree with you on the politicians, but how in the hell do you leave Django Reinhardt out when listing virtuosos of the guitar? Django Reinhardt and Thelonious Monk are my musical heroes and I'm sure they both have many devotees here. I almost put Django on there, but left him off for some stupid reason. But yes, to come out of a fire, only being able to use two fingers, and to be able to play like THAT??? :notworthy

QUOTE(Steff @ May 26, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) Nurses I can agree with the others, but to say "Nurses" would mean my wife would be ruling my house more than she already does!!! LOL! So, I have to just say "yeah, they're pretty cool and all...but..."!!!

American Heroes
This could be pretty much anybody. Mine? Charlie Christian Brian Setzer Chet Atkins Randy Rhoads Michael Hedges Others that MIGHT be up there? George Romero Tom Savini Joe R. Lansdale It depends on what you consider a "hero". The first batch of people were guitar pioneers. Setzer brought back two styles that many felt were "dead" and made them HUGELY popular again. The second batch exceled in their jobs, helped define an entire film genre, and helped to change films. Joe Lansdale unwittingly helped create a style of writing, and then turned himself into one of the best American authors alive today. Yeah, I should probably look at the people who have done something super special and call them "heroes", but I don't base my life on what they did. Tilman did something amazing, yes, but I am not about to follow his path. I have however followed the paths laid out by the guitarists up there as far as playing. I have chosen my own path as far as day to day life, and follow both the things done right by my own parents, and the things done wrong by my parents. I try to better them in the parenting aspect, and they were both great parents. But each persons "heroes" are all to what you feel a "hero" is all about. Hillary Clinton is so far removed from what one of my "heroes" would be it isn't even funny. Hell man, few politicians could ever be considered a "hero" to me.

Happy Birthday Kid Gleason
See, this is sweet! Thank you folk! I 'ppreciate it. Just got back from Star Wars (badd ass flick it is), and am on my way out for some BBQ. Tradition dictates I go to Famous Daves. Critic, my taste in tunes is changing in an odd way indeed! But I did find a VERY cool band today called The Inmates. Cool stuff, kind of a mix of Rolling Stones, Thorogood, and the 70's UK Punk scene. Neat stuff. The album is from '79, but it still rocks! Thanks again kids.

Charges to br filed in Zion murders
QUOTE(YASNY @ May 12, 2005 -> 07:14 AM) They should take him back to Buelah Park in Zion and string the POS up. But if there is anything to the whole "souls sticking around where they departed" thing, I am not so sure those little girls want him hanging out (heh...puns) with them. But at the same time, they might want to see it.

Charges to br filed in Zion murders
Steff, I was just saying that against the idea of it ever being done away with. I just never understood many of the anti-death penalty arguments when it comes to this type of thing. I understand if there is still questions. But the guy admitted to doing it, so why would anybody (outside of maybe his parents) want him alive? I just don't get that aspect of the anti-death crowd.

Charges to br filed in Zion murders
QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ May 12, 2005 -> 06:55 AM) A shank in prison is what he will be facing..... Thats still too long to wait. As soon as he admitted it, he needed to be taken outside and done away with. There is no reform for s*** like him. Let's see, he's chased people with a chainsaw, and then was released after he was "reformed", and he proceeded to kill his own daughter of 8, and her friend who was 9. Both died in EXTREMELY violent fashion. Seems to me he got worse over time. No reform, and no chance at it, and no further life. THIS guy is why the death penalty should NEVER be done away with 100%. I have no interest in any of my tax money going to this POS to eat dinner and have a comfy blanky at night. But I will gladly hand over the money for a gun and a bullet for his head.

Favorite Video Game from Way back
Intellivision: Night Stalker Space Armada (the invisible ships are a pain in the butt) Astro-Smash On my MAME (so in other words...old arcade games): Joust Wizard Of Wor Pheonix Space Invaders II (I think it might be Return Of The Space Invaders or something like that) Defender (just for the sounds mainly) Oddly, I don't like the realistic looking games at all.

Plain and simple, he admitted it, bullet to the head.

Chicago U2 Show ripped
But he is a VERY good writer. Opinion on music doesn't matter, he is a good writer and actually backs up his stuff very well. If I liked everything he liked, it would be pointless to read his stuff. But by the way he describes something, I can get a very good idea if I will like it or not.

Beltre's homerun; Yankee "Fan" who caught it
Bringing your glove to the game is only for kids? What about the guys on the field? Ya know, sitting on either basepath those balls fly in there pretty damn fast, and if your idea of "being a man" is breaking every bone in your hand while trying to stop a ball from smashing all of my teeth out, well, then I guess you can call me "Susie". Man, some of you are an interesting breed. :headshake

Derogatis. One of the few critics (especially music) I really do like. I might not agree with him too much, and I think he likes some pretty crap bands, but the man is REALLY good, and he is a great writer.
