QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 02:17 AM) T-Rex shows up why? This movie looks awful. Call me crazy...but maybe because he battled a Rex-like dino in the original. Plus there was the stegasarus on the island in the original. Oh...also the Pterydactyl. It's a lost island where time stood still. Anybody here ever see the original???

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 09:50 PM) Have you seen the Japan-release ending to KK Versus Godzilla, where Kong dies and Godzilla wins? What am I saying, of course you have. And what was the name of the Japanese film with the two giant ape things, a good brown one and an evil green one? The Gargantuans or something like that. That was one of my favorite Saturday night Creature Feature flicks as a kid. It's a myth. Both the US version and the Japanese version of King Kong Vs. Godzilla have the same ending. Everything else in between the beginning and ending has been messed with though. Whereas the US version is a poorly done affair, the Japanese version is actually a wonderful satire on consumerism with some great stuff going on everywhere. The FX actually are not as poor as they seem to be. The problem many of these films have is that once they get sliced up, you lose the look and scope of the picture and most of the US has no idea how great the cinematography is. War Of The Gargantuas is the movie. Great movie!

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 05:13 PM) It looks like another MJY picture. I don't much care to see a King Kong picture that features a Kong so small that the WTC Kong could punt him across NYC Ummm, in the original film Kong only stood about 18-20 feet tall. Only in King Kong Vs. Godzilla and King Kong Escapes was Kong comparable to Godzilla.

He's a great actor! Especially in that one movie where he plays the young cocky guy!!!

QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) Sure. All true. The first time I saw PLanet of the Apes was in school and a lot of people hated it. I just sat there with my mouth wide open. Riveting stuff! Planet Of The Apes is still a riveting film and it's perfection was easily shown thanks to the abomination that Tim Burton made using the same name.

I love Kong, but this trailer did nothing for me. Purty FX, but it seems to be the same as the original, and that one sure didn't need any fixing at all. Just seems like a waste of a bunch of money. Shame the studios think that kids have no use for the originals.

New or old? All-time greatest show would be Fawlty Towers and nothing comes close. Other than that? The Bob Newhart Show Battlestar Galactica Monty Pythons Flying Circus Cheers Seinfeld Everybody Loves Raymond The Honeymooners And about there I start drawing a blank. But those are the ones I still love to watch. Oh yeah...Real People and BJ And The Bear!!! Actually, I would love to see Real People again, as I loved it growing up.

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) I think I'll see it because I had to suffer through the original in my Information Media class 2nd semester and I might as well see the Speilberg version. :headshake Kids these days. The original George Pal version is a friggin' classic man, absolute classic!

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 09:25 AM) I haven't seen this movie nor do I plan on seeing it any time soon, but this interested me. What happened? SPOILER!!! Cholo is the character played by Leguizamo, and he is basically the nutjob of the mercenary guys. Or the one who gives the least s*** about things. He ends up getting bit in the hand towards the end of the movie. As his buddy asks him if he wants him to kill him (as everybody else does so that they don't become like "them"), Cholo responds with a "Nah, f*** it, I always wanted to see how the other half lives" and he and his buddy go their seperate ways. It was a cool twist, as for once somebody was cool with what was going to happen, and it fit his character perfectly. Queen Prawn: no, Romero had no part of last years Dawn Of The Dead remake, and was not happy about it at all. But without that film, this one would never have happened.
-
I loved it! Dawn is without a doubt my favorite movie (owning every single US release there has been of the damn thing even) and the movie that changed my life as far as film viewing is concerned, so I had some concerns for the film. Though I was never one of the ones who hated Day, so maybe I am a bit too forgiving to Romero. But for me, this film had so much going for it, and it succeeded in so many ways. I loved all of the characters and felt everything was executed just right. The only complaint I have was the make-up job for Big Daddy. It actually would have served better, IMO, to have had Bub come back and be the leader, as over the 10 years or so that have supposedly passed, he would have gained a decent amount of intelligence. SPOILER!!! I loved Romero's decision on Cholo's fate!!! That was a brilliant move and one I had longed for in zombie flicks. Yes, Savini was reprising his role of Blade in this film. Just a shame that Romero didn't give him credit as it in the end.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) Can someone recap the "Maddux is pissed" story. I missed that part of the pre-game. Buehrle accused a Cubs pitcher of spitballing. The media picked up on it and said he was talking about Maddux. Maddux responded with a "who's Mark Buerhle?" Expect a war.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) Channel 44 for Spectreman. Man, those were the days!!!
-
My fave channel is the one I click to switch to DVD. I hate TV.

Normal ring now. Soon to be "Ooh La La" by Faces But I also set it on vibrate. But only when feeling a little naughty. Believe it or not, but my wallpaper is the art poster for Godzilla Vs. King Ghidorah. Heh, I guess I am a bit of a geek.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 05:13 PM) I grew up in PF Flyers and Chuck Taylors. Now that Chucks ar back in style, my son won't let me buy them because he's wearing them. Damn kid stealing all the things that were cool when I was a kid. Why can't he rebel and piss me off like a normal teenager? My daughter has some, my son has some, my wife has a pair, I have a pair. We're so f***ing cute when we go places dressed alike.
-
I actually only where Chuck Taylors when I wear "athletic shoes", and that is actually only maybe 4 days out of the year.

The tides continue to turn. Haven't the Cubs and their fans always claimed that they really pay no attention to the Sox, and that the Sox and their fans are the only ones who have some sort of agenda here? Does anybody else see that the Cubs and their fans are starting to become bothered by the Sox, and that the Sox seem to be gaining in their "fandom"? Side note, I may have mentioned this one, we had a garage sale not too long ago. Through out the sale, I had two people walk through with Cubs hats on. I lost track of all the Sox gear by about noon.

John Carpenter has always been great, and I loved how Ennio Morricone took the Carpenter style for Carpenters The Thing. The whole soundtrack for Let Sleeping Corpses Lie.

bloodninja is my new hero. Somebody get that guy into writing scripts.

Geesh, I guess I understand the phone sex thing to a degree, I mean, we all like to be talked dirty to once in awhile (sorry if this is too much info...but admit it dammit), but to be TYPED to??? That just seems silly, and I can see why people would goof around with them like that bloodninja guy does. The 'net just opened up a whole new world of funky fetishes, didn't it???
-
I want to know what those are from. Is there some sort of phone sex thing out there but with chat rooms??? That bloodninja guy seems to hang out in them only to have a joke on them. That guy kills me!!! LOL!!!

Jimmy's shoes for his vertical leap were the coolest. No argument there.
-
This one is brilliant! If this really went down like this, I really wish I had been there to see it, but thank the lord this stuff is someplace so we can all enjoy it:
-
But if you read stories of the old timers, they will all say that the great pitchers back then would only use their best stuff if they had to. They would talk about how if a pitcher did it all right, then they would only use the best stuff maybe three times a game. So if Shingo is getting people out using anything BUT his best stuff, why bother giving them the time to see it anymore than they really need to?
