Love watching Martin pitch when he's on, such a professional on the mound (and in the clubhouse). I'm in no rush to trade him at all, let him be the "vet innings eater" they'd pick up in any given offseason anyway until there are 5 better starters around to force him out. Very good to see an offensive breakout, especially for the guys who had been getting BABIP'd lately. 11 balls in play at 99+ mph, 7 of which went for hits. Mune's 114 was the highest EV of his young season so far, and I'd bet the 431ft estimate is underselling it. Sox are tied in the division with the Royals at 7-13. The Royals are on a 5L, 2-8 in their last 10, and have fewer runs scored on the season. Also at 7-13 are the Mets (who are on a 9L) and Rockies. The Blue Jays (7-12) and Astros (8-13) are nearby. This was the Sox (1-6) first win against an opponent with a winning record coming in. Detroit (0-4) and Colorado (0-5) have yet to beat a winning team, while the Brewers and Cardinals have yet to face one. Sox once again halt a skid at 3. Easily one of the biggest differences between this April and the last 2. At this point last year, they had already had a 6L and 8L. In 2024, it was 2 separate 4L's, a 6L, AND they were in the middle of what would end up being another 7L. Win #7 on 4/17, compared to 5/4/2024 and 4/26/2025 (also against the A's). Date to beat for win #8 is May 1.
