  1. That clinches the season series too with win #7 vs. the Twins. Tomorrow will come down to whether they can get to Taj Bradley for the third time in 4 starts. Such a weird situation for him lol, will probably be relieved to be done with the Sox regardless of how it goes.
  2. He whiffs so much, but I swear every other time he actually makes contact is an XBH
  3. Kanny won 6-2. Liam Paddack was gross out of the pen, 3 perfect innings with 8Ks (7 swinging) and a grounder to 2nd.
  4. In Game 2, Knights were down to their last strike down 2-0. They rallied with 4 straight hits to take a 3-2 lead (Amaya double, Baker single, Connor single, Julks double). Pallette got a 3K save.
  5. Burke had a 6IP/3ER quality start with 7K for Charlotte, but got outdueled by Robby Snelling. He gave up 2 solo shots, but both were of the ~340ft Charlotte variety. More importantly, no walks. Lucas Gordon quietly promoted to AA, and had a decent outing. 5IP, 0ER, 2H, 3BB, 4K.
  6. Both players after the game said it wasn't intentional, but...
  7. They unfortunately might wise up and fire Rocco though, even if it's just because they need a scapegoat. Edit: Also Byron Button sounds like an adorable children's book character
  8. Need a few more baserunners to give Colson another shot at a HR in the 9th
  9. Barons drop a close one late, 4-3. But Gowens was nice with 5 scoreless, and BMont legged out his first AA triple
  10. He says he doesn't want to leave and has a NTC.
  11. Could not be more night and day for Hatch compared to his outing at the Rate
  12. Hatch shut them down last series, nice adjustments so far.
  13. Dash win 1-0 behind that first inning shot from Perez and some great pitching. Ziehl (Slater return) went 5 scoreless with 1 hit. Phil Fox got a 2 inning save. He's had a really solid first year, mostly pitching leverage innings. 3.14 ERA/0.96 WHIP over 57.1IP with 71 Ks to just 13 walks.
  14. Rough one for Crochet vs. the Guardians: 6IP, 7ER, 9H (4 HR), 4K. Getting squared up by guys like Hedges, Fry, and Rocchio makes me wonder if he was tipping? Not good for the Cy odds either way.
  15. The A's have some good young pieces, will be interesting to see their offseason
  16. Padres bringing Maldonado back on a minors deal. He was Cease's (4IP 2ER on 91 pitches today) personal catcher in the first half, but it's not like it was leading to better results so I'm not sure what the rationale is. I guess just injury insurance, since they seem to not like Campusano at C.
  17. Productive inning for guys with the initials CM
  18. HRs in four straight games against the Twins for Colson
  19. Sosa hit HR #18 today. His first 9 took half the season (81 games) but he got the next 9 more than twice as quickly (38 games). He's also very nearly doubled his RBI pace from the first half to the second (31 RBI in 81 games vs. 30 RBI in 38 games). Some of that is probably a result of the generally better team offense. Some is improved plate discipline as he's dropped his K% from 23.7 to 18.7%. Taking 8 walks in still 38 games isn't much, but it beats 8 walks in 81... He also just seems to be punishing "his" pitches more: 9 HR out of 24 XBH in the first half (14 2B), 9 HR out of 12 XBH in the last 38 games (3 2B). It's a big jump in ISO from .150 to .204 while simultaneously improving his AVG/OBP a bit. Will be interesting to see if the trend keeps up to finish the season or if it's just a hot streak in a (still solid) year.
