  1. I highly doubt Fields hasn't earned a starting spot somewhere on the 2008 team. I don't like his defense at third... but LF is where I hope to see him.
  2. The Cubs and Sox now have 48 hours to work out a deal.
  3. Buster Olney just stated the same thing on Baseball Tonight.
  4. Indians designated RHP Fernando Cabrera for assignment. The Indians completely stopped trusting Cabrera after he followed up an exceptional April with an awful May. He had pitched just 10 times in two months and twice since the All-Star break. The Indians might get a little something for him in a trade. We should jump all over claiming this guy off waivers. I would think Tampa Bay wont let him get to us... but I am all for giving a 25 year with a mid 90's fastball a look. Bring back the magic Coop.
  5. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) If Dye "finishes his career with the White Sox" and only signs "a 2-3 year deal," those are going to be some really painful years. I think Jermaine has 3-4 years left... do you disagree?
  6. I'm telling you... Dye and KW are talking. I am not opposed to resigning JD. I think we will come to know in the morning that JD will finish his career with the White Sox.
  7. KW must be convinced he is going to resign Garland. The Dodgers are ready to trade whoever it takes... this could get real tempting.
  8. For some reason I am getting the feeling they are going to resign Dye.
  9. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 11:40 AM) what did we trade for him? the whole board is excited over a guy we got for crap... there has to be a reason arizona basically gave him away. I don't consider Aaron Cunningham crap.
  10. Time to find out who that third team is... and is it just me... or is Willy Mo Pena the OF version of Juan Uribe?
  11. there is no reason why Garland or Javy should get us any less than Adam Jones.
  12. In the Count's last five starts, he's given up 49 hits and 36 earned runs in 29 1/3 innings. Good Golly thats bad.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 08:45 PM) Once the deadline passes, you put Contreras on the DL for a month and see if he can finish up strong. His contract is an absolute albatross right now. I agree... but honestly at this point we might as well keep him. If anyone was to take him, I would bet we would have to send about 15-18 of the 24 million he is still owed. Lets just cross our fingers and hope he gets younger in the offseason.
  14. From the LA Times: The Angels, who have had trade talks with Texas regarding first baseman Mark Teixeira, have also resumed their pursuit of Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko, who turned down a five-year, $62-million free-agent offer from the Angels after 2005 to remain in Chicago. According to several industry sources, the Angels, looking to add a power bat to their sagging offense, have inquired about Konerko, who is batting .261 with 22 home runs and 61 runs batted in. Konerko has a limited no-trade clause and is signed through 2010, but he has a good relationship with Scioscia and would probably waive the clause to come to Anaheim. But the White Sox, who are 14 1/2 games back in the American League Central and are in a selling mode, haven't decided whether to trade Konerko or right fielder Jermaine Dye, who can become a free agent at the end of this year. The Sox have made it clear they don't plan to tear down the team and don't want to completely strip their lineup. They are shopping pitcher Jose Contreras but are getting more inquires about pitchers Jon Garland and Javier Vazquez, all of whom could be of interest to the Angels. *********************************************************************************** This to me seems like wishful thinking on the writer's part. I love the part where he says the Sox haven't decided who to try and trade... Dye or Konerko.
  15. Pods does have a tinkerbell type of affect on this team. He is magical in the lineup.
  16. QUOTE(heirdog @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 10:11 PM) Wow, a guy just drops a rumor that Willy Mo has basically been traded to the White Sox and instead of addressing that, the debate about John Danks vs. every other young pitcher goes on... Any way, I am not sure what reliever we had to give up to get Willy Mo but I hope its Aardsma. Not a done deal yet... but I would be very please to get Pena for anyone in our pen not named Jenks.
  17. I don't know which is worse... Our Play or Hawk. I feel bad for DJ... I wish DJ would just punch him or throw his microphone at him.
  18. Add me to the "I want Eric Byrnes on the White Sox" Club.
  19. We never would have come close to matching other teams offers for his services... but with the type of money they are talking (90 to 100 million) I don't think the M's would have been competiting with anyone besides themselves, and maybe the Yankees.
  20. Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste. A taste of honey tasting much sweeter than wine Spill the wine, take that girl Take your car, yes we will, we'll take your car and drive it. I've been waiting...I've been waiting for this moment all my life...but it's not quite right Something is wrong here! I don't belong here! My daddy he disowned me cause I wear my sister's clothes, he caught me in the bathroom with a pair of pantyhose. I see you shiver with antici... pation! Stop right there! I gotta know right now before we go any further. Do you love me? Will you love me forever? I'm in love but I sure picked a bad time to be in love. Even the bad times are good, as soon as i get to you, baby. Sixteen I fell in love with a girl as sweet as can be. Only took a couple of days till she was rid of me. Well, she used to run around with every man in town. Oooh Jackie, what fun you have had. Freaked out for another day. No fun, my babe, no fun. This is no social crisis. Just another tricky day for you, Fella. Mister America, try to hide the emptiness that's you inside. Forget about the brotherly and otherly love. Motherly Love is just the thing for you. The things that I used to do....Lord, I won't do no more. You know the sky, the sky's been cryin - Can't you see the tears roll down my nose? Oh, set me up with the spirit in the sky, that's where I'm gonna go when I die. You've blown it all sky high. And you can fly high as a kite if you want to. I want to get away, I wanna fly away. Straighten up and fly right. Cool down, papa, don't you blow your top. It's a family affair, it's a family affair. When you see me again I hope that you have been the kind of person that you really are now. But I always thought that I'd see you again. I thought I could feel (feel, feel, feel) music touching my soul, something warm, sudden cold. But it was just my imagination running away with me. Have I got a long way... to run. Running away to get away. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! You're wearing out your shoes. Time marches on I start to trip I start to fall. And now I'm running from something, running from something on my tail. I'm as 'bout as helpless as a leaf in a gale; and it looks like I've got a tiger by the tail. A dinosaur Victrola listening to Buck Owens. Doo doo doo, Lookin' out my back door. I'm a back door man. The men don't know, but the little girls understand. Li'l Sister, don'cha do what your Big Sister done. The only one who could ever reach me, was the son of a preacher man. We sat and talked about things on our mind and now this man he is a friend of mine. What your friends all say is fine but it can't compete with this pillow talk of mine. You talk a lot, but you're not saying anything. Oh well I'm sittin' here la-la waitin' for my ya-ya, uh-huh If I don't get some shelter Lord, I'm gonna fade away
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 10:56 PM) He'll be with the White Sox next year. I agree Fathom... I just can't believe he didn't give the token answer about wanting to stay with Philly. The Phillies never came up... lol.
  22. For those who didn't see it... Aaron Rowand was interviewed at All Star Media Day in a one on one with Chuch Garfiend of Comcast. It was basically asking him about his memories of Chicago, his thoughts about being traded, and his thoughts on the teams struggles this year, etc. The interview ended with Garfiend asking Rowand something along the lines of "At the end of the year, you are a Free Agent... if you could list three teams you would want to go to, would the Sox be one of them?" Rowand replied with a quick yes. Garfiend then asked what about if there were only two teams... again Rowand said yes. What made me laugh was Rowand going on to say "you can make it one team and you know what my answer is." Just found this interesting.
  23. I'd like to have Hunter... But the Sox will try for Ichiro or Hunter... both will get too much $... so Aaron Rowand will be back in center.
