I'm completely over anyone on the MLB roster improving. They are what they are at this point. Moncada got so lucky with the bouncy ball in 2019, as it propelled him to over $100M in career earnings. Even if he's out of baseball in a few years, he's set for life.

Given that Sale was a virtual non-factor for Boston during their 2018 run........that trade was a lose-lose deal. IIRC he closed out the last game and that was it.

I hate to say this, but the Sox are gonna have to draft, internationally sign, and develop their way out of this mess. There's not much if anything of value to other teams on this roster.

Nobody's trading a lot for a fluke season that was driven by stranding runners on base and a low BABIP/HR rate. Cease's career ERAs: 2019: 5.79 2020: 4.01 2021: 3.91 2022: 2.20 2023: 4.88 One of these things is not like the other; one of these things does not belong. Cease's fastball is down a full mph and his walk rate is even worse than last year.

I don't even think they could sell if they wanted to. There's no reason to sell anyone that isn't on a 1 year deal because they're all having shitty years.

This is where I land. I think the talent was there, but the Sox were unable to help these players reach their potential. I also wonder why players come to the Sox and all of the sudden forget how to hit HRs since TLR took over.

At this point you have to question whether or not the talent was ever there, and if it was its an indictment on the Sox player development. Moncada is 28 Kopech is 27 Cease is 27 Burger is 27 Jimenez, Robert and Vaughn are 25.
