fwiw, these are the hobby lobby evangelical bozos. do the sox have no shame in taking their money?

Just turned the game on, pleasantly surprised it's only a 2-0 deficit with Lynn on the mound.

LA Times assesses White Sox/Dodgers trade possibilities

not the point of this thread, but what the hell does this team's hitting coach actually do? -
Yeah I legitimately can't see a path to a new ballpark unless the climate apocalypse happens and northern Illinois's population doubles. But a new park won't be an issue in JR's lifetime so it makes sense that they're not talking about it. His kid couldn't care less about baseball and the Bulls print money no matter how terribly they're run. I think when he dies, the Sox are sold off and suddenly the ballpark will become an issue for new ownership. The city won't kick in money for a new one unless the whole area can be profitably redeveloped (I think it could be. the YUPification east of that area is already in full swing) but there are likely far more desirable markets for a new owner. Pretty much the only hope is that Michael Reinsdorf actually feels some sense of loyalty to the city of Chicago and the fans that made his dad and him incredibly wealthy -- but that seems unlikely.

Jerry does this with the Bulls, 90% of the former roster is an ambassador or something. Wilbur Wood isn't dead yet, I bet he can teach Crochet how to throw a knuckleball

Once the ballpark is too old, does anyone see the White Sox staying in Chicago regardless of who owns the team? Nobody will want to pay for a stadium for a sport that no one cares about for a team that Chicago baseball fans care even less about. Do you envision the city kicking in any money? Or there being profit to be had for developers by building a 'ballpark district' on 35th street? What's happening to the A's will happen to the Sox, history be damned. Baseball team owners are also real estate developers and there's much more money to be had building condos and restaurants in Oakland than the south side of Chicago. Unfortunately the A's aren't the Giants and the Sox aren't the Cubs.

it would be an admission of failure by the front office and admitting to mistakes so they might be corrected is a huge no-no in any corporate environment.

who will be starting at 2b by the end of the season: remillard, wong or moncada?

can Stone or Miller be had for Gio? Doubtful, but that would be nice. I bet they like Miller more, but maybe they think they can get make WS run this year with an MLB regular -
seriously? bat flipped the walk too lol
-
I wonder how many breaking balls pitchers throw vs the Sox vs every other team in the league. the scouting report has to be "just throw sliders and you're on track for a perfect game"
-
already more successful than anderson

"the sacks packed with seamen...mariners..."

I dunno how this shows up in WAR but Vaughn is actually good at first base.
-
How about Grandal's walk rate: 2021: 23.2% 2022: 12.0% 2023: 7.3% they realize that the runner gets to go to first base after a walk, right?

they're a computer company and should've stuck to that

benintendi checking soxtalk between at bats

this entire bit with the kid in the outfield is just uncomfortable. all of apple tv's games are just weird.
-
why is apple tv doing an alaska airlines commercial while pitches are being thrown?

I guess this is a matter of debate, but Luis Robert is to me the obvious #2 hitter. I don't know why every team doesn't put their best hitter there and Robert has speed in addition to power. Perfect #2 hitter. Like, how many wasted at bats are there now over the course of the season with black holes Anderson and Benintendi taking those extra at bats? Unfortunately there's no one to lead off. Nobody gets on base on this team or walks. Sadly Benintendi is the best for the spot, I'd say Vaughn but at least he can ostensibly drive in runs.

even worse, 0 for his last 15. it obviously worked lol
-
I think Bummer is equally confused.

There was no logic to this hire except he's Cuban-American and the front office/probably Reinsdorf thought he would make the Cuban players play better. This is a conspiracy theory but I can't think of any other reason
