Bryan Hudson claimed off waivers
the 1.72 ERA across 62.1 innings is likely not being repeated, but I like this better than giving up a prospect for Cam Booser

Benetti's new job...

Still like what we got all around. Kristian Campbell and Marcelo Mayer were the guys I liked from the Red Sox, thought Teel was redundant, thought we could've drafted B Montgomery instead of Smith. Turns out Mayer and Campbell are kinda bums and Montgomery I think will be a very good big leaguer. 4 players who look like actual major leaguers, two of whom might be all-stars, seems like as good of value as you could expect. That being said, I would've been very happy to extend Crochet to a giant contract. He's so good. Tigers almost certainly won't extend Skubal and get nothing in exchange, but that would've been a very fun battle to watch over the next 5 or so years.- Crochet Trade Outcome Tracker
hall of fame trajectory. real fun guy to watch pitch.- 3/26 Opening Day: Sox@Brewers, Smith vs Misiorowski, 1:05 CHSN

that's just how people from southern california look. it's the marine layer or something.- 3/26 Opening Day: Sox@Brewers, Smith vs Misiorowski, 1:05 CHSN
yeah, it wasn't for me either. I wanted to sit down.- 3/26 Opening Day: Sox@Brewers, Smith vs Misiorowski, 1:05 CHSN
if it's any consolation, my train ride home was packed with cubs "fans" who left after the 4th inning.- 3/26 Opening Day: Sox@Brewers, Smith vs Misiorowski, 1:05 CHSN
wtf Checked the box score right after the game started, 1-0 on a leadoff homer. Check it again and it’s 1-11. The silver lining is that Chase is projected to hit 162 homers.- Non-White Sox Off-Season Hot Stove
- Frank Thomas Suing Sox
Saw the headline earlier today and was like "lul of course" but now reading the reason why, Frank seems justified. Don't know any of the details, but it seems absurd to use his likeness without his permission or giving him any money.- Non-White Sox Off-Season Hot Stove
That's a lot of money to give PCA after his disastrous second half imo. His BB/chase rates would make Lenyn Sosa blush. They actually strike me as similar hitters, of course Pete is several years younger and an excellent defender at an important position. I dunno how the team couldn't get any club options at least. Roman Anthony signed for 8/180 (lower AAV) with a club option, but the ugly sox only bought out a year of FA. It could end up being an excellent contract, so could've LuBob's, but I also think the Cubs could've waited a year. IMO they should've retained Tucker and passed this extension down the road, let him go through arbitration and invest that money in a roster that could win the World Series now. This contract and the Roman Anthony one makes me think about what a steal the Brewers got with Chourio. 8/82, bought out 2 years of free agency with 2 club options. Smart team.- Rule 5 pick Alberto back to TB
Well, Palette could still be on the team.- Site Upgrade - Minor mods still needed
The new look is very clean, I like it! Looks very good on mobile too. The one thing I miss is individual page numbers. If a thread is on its fourth page, sometimes you like to open up the third page and read those comments, ya know? Don't know if that would be a simple implementation or not, but keep up the good work!- Update: Vasil Needs Tommy John
Man that really sucks.- WBC game threads and catch-all
Festa and Ottavino should be available actually. This Italy team is surprisingly talented on both sides. I wouldn’t trust McLean at this stage in his career. Too bad for team USA that Skubal dipped out. Lucky USA that their pen gets an extra day of rest. Italy or Venezuela taking the title this year would be so cool for the sport.- WBC game threads and catch-all

Then don’t live in a society. I don’t know what you guys are so paranoid about. Does the pokey needle hurt or something? It’s a very egotistical and selfish perspective to have.- Update: Vasil Needs Tommy John
Every time this discussion occurs on this forum (often, but becoming less so), I think about how David Stearns has an unlimited budget and built-in talent and couldn’t make the playoffs and might’ve made the playoffs if he made the exact same moves for the pitching staff that Getz did. I dunno what people expect out of a baseball GM honestly. To swing all the bats I guess. edit: oh yeah, opened this thread because I was hoping Vasil might crack the rotation to begin the season. Hopefully he’s just day-to-day and this injury doesn’t derail that possibility.- Teel injured in WBC - Grade 2 hamstring strain, out 4-6 weeks
Really sucks but the silver lining is it gives a little time to see if Lee is tradable.- White Sox lawsuit.
you mean fewer doctors and chemists and more guys who hosted reality tv shows about eating bugs?- Benetti's new job...
Yeah I was considering elaborating on my thoughts, but the first thought was that many kids get nice scholarships (if not full rides) to these sorts of schools without being privileged, especially if he played ball in high school, did extracurriculars, got good grades. I don't know Schriffen's life (I don't really care), but there are many routes to such an institution without ponying up that kind of money. The other thought was that it seems interesting to call the only current black PBP television guy in baseball 'privileged'. You could look up just about any of these guys doing the job and see how they got a 'connection' into the industry. Don't get me wrong, I think Schriffen is bad at his job, but 'privileged' is not an idea that comes to my mind. 'Bad' is the idea that comes to my mind. I hope he's better this year, maybe it's an adjustment period.- Benetti's new job...
