He hasn’t appeared in a game in a month. Never saw it reported why. Maybe in Arizona.

One wonders how that sub-headline made it past an editor. That's too many points. What other points are there to reach? Point D? Point Z? Pointbreak? Point-and-shoot? Pointillism? I don't think the Sun Times employs editors anymore though.

nobody wants the 27-year-old future hall of famer. i hate it when guys produce 6 war for my team every year.

Sox now have a Big Three. Mura, Vargas and Colson.
That's insane. Kind of surprising. Not an all-star tho. It'll be amusing when Mune beats him out.

He's an idiot. I don't even think listeners like morons like this, but for whatever reason these guys have "access" to players that people want to hear interviewed. It's the same thing with Mookie Betts, although he is a lot less obnoxious. Players will go on his show and talk to him and he'll ask the most inane questions. Way out of his element, he isn't a journalist, he's a ball player. Journalists don't have a role in this anymore unless they do PR for the players and their agencies. It may be 'just sports', but journalistic ethics and quality standards are completely gone.

Inside Look at White Sox Draft Room via Jesse Rodgers/ESPN
It's less physically demanding to play 3000+ outs a year at 3rd than SS. In a sport where guys get injured jogging to first base, you might want to take some precautionary measures to preserve your superstars' careers, particularly when you have good alternatives. We've seen Colson's defense take a dip after sitting with a 'strained back' last month, his OAA has dropped from +9 to +5 in that time. He's 24-years-old now, how is that defense going to look when he's 29 and how is the strain going to affect his bat or ability to even play games? I'm still of the mind that Colson inevitably ends up at 1B and I think it's more fascinating that people are writing off Carlson/want to trade him prematurely when he's the best defender in the system with a potentially non-useless bat.

Fedde/Pham/$ to STL, Kopech to LAD, Miguel Vargas + prospects to Sox
If you like reading people whine and talk trash about things they're wrong about. Which I do.

Tristan Peters, Mune are All-Stars
You ever actually try to read a Passan article, not just some tweet about a player being traded? That guy is functionally illiterate. So-called journalists nowadays read and write at an eighth grade level. Don't even get me started on editors (they don't exist, there's nothing to get started on).

Gonzo & Eisert Traded to Pirates for Comp Pick and Jaden Woods
He’s almost certainly not a potential star. That Law puff piece was absurd. Seemed to help his trade value though. I don’t wanna s%*# on the guy, but he wasn’t beating out anybody on this team because he isn’t good enough. That 34th pick could be a total bust and he’s still impacting the Chicago White Sox as much as Gonzalez was. Maybe less because Gonzo is genuinely good injury depth; however Thome (or whoever else could’ve been selected) could be an actual difference maker. Sold at what is almost certainly the height of his value for a well-weighted lottery ticket. I love these kinds of deals, it’s exactly what they didn’t do with Cease and Robert.

Gonzo & Eisert Traded to Pirates for Comp Pick and Jaden Woods
Days later, I'm still shocked that anybody actually cares about Jacob Gonzalez. That being said, I am not shocked that SoxTalk posters are looking for reasons to be upset.

Gonzo & Eisert Traded to Pirates for Comp Pick and Jaden Woods
That's typically how draft picks work. You hope they're good in the future. Is Roch Chowalsky good? Maybe one day. Would you trade, I dunno, a 1 WAR player for Roch? He's an unknown commodity, you know, kinda risky. I don't understand this board's new love affair for Gonzalez. It smells like Tim Elko or Jake Burger, overrating the flavor of the month (I wish I looked at this board when Yermin was playing). I liked the pick when he got drafted (nobody else did) and didn't write him off immediately. But he isn't some star waiting in the wings, he's a middling player with no where to play on this team. He hasn't actually been good in MLB, his only professional success is 200 at bats at AAA. He's essentially a replacement level player who will be a good injury substitute for Konnor Griffin, and in two months when Griffin is back in the lineup, the Pirates will have traded a first rounder for a bench player who almost certainly won't challenge Brandon Lowe for starting 2B. In reality, it's a major developmental W to make Gonzalez look semi-useful and get an actual asset for him. It's wise to not lay off the gas on the rebuild by trading Gonzalez for some 5 ERA starting pitcher and continuing to acquire future assets. It's pointless to have in sit on the bench or cycle between AAA and MLB and reduce his value by eating his options. Wish him good luck,

Good trade. Right idea.

Trade Ideas/Rumors/Proposals Thread
Why are we so quick to sell the farm this season? Why give up a potential 20 HR, perennial gold glove shortstop (#60 prospect in baseball) for a guy with a career 4.7 ERA and 2 years left of control? It's just not good value by any standard. Now this is wild. Two top 100 prospects for a 5th starter/swingman. Why are we so keen on jettisoning talent from the system? The Sox are not one 'meh' pitcher away from being a WS contender. Is Detmers even better, today, than Hagen Smith? It's not like I hate the idea of trading for Detmers, but it takes guys like Jeral Perez and Mathias LaCombe to get it done not our previous two first round picks.

Mike Vasil "The Wizard"
He led all relievers in MLB in IP (101) and had a 2.50 ERA. Every team needs that.

Is soccer replacing all the US major sports (except NFL) in popularity?)
Weird perspective for a baseball fan to have considering soccer is a much more action-packed sport. Basketball without a shot clock is hockey, also low-scoring but incredibly fast-paced. Soccer and basketball have very little in common. Also kinda weird to neg the kids for having fun playing a game and not being professionals. Also not true, the kids sitting down picking the grass definitely do not blend in.
