The Blue Jays must have had their eye on him and didn't think he would be available in the off season.

Cease and Yesavage are the only SP they would have coming back for 2027

Interesting. I have seen Nimmala ranked pretty low some places relatively speaking. He's pretty high at fangraphs I guess though. Wasn't even in Laws mid-season top 70 if I didnt miss something.

It's not that Nimmala is better, it's that they'd have to offer better than him to get either guy (or at least Soriano). And the only similar prospect the Sox have that is definitely better is Bonemer.

I still feel like Carlson and a good second piece gets you Detmers. High end positional prospects are clearly valued a ton as we’re seeing here.

Nimmala is such a hard player to figure out. He could flame out in AA OR he could be a star. We'll see if the Angels can fix their development program fast enough to help the kid. Clearly, the Jays prioritized keeping Parker ahead of Nimmala, which is exactly how I'd rank them. He's the guy I wanted at 10 last year, but the board wouldn't cooperate.
