sick walk. that was a strike, right? Colson the vet gets those calls.
-
Nice defensive inning. Hard hit balls, a near Homer, you don’t love to see it.
-
I think we’ve pretty much got all the hitters up from the minors who were likely to come up this season. Time to make some noise! Why can’t the Sox play .500ish ball the rest of the way? A forum poster can dream anyway.
-
ezwin. Toronto is not that good, their streak of good luck against bad teams like NYY is about to come to an end.

Does being in Madison count? The town is going wild for AV’s debut -
He’s a good writer, looking forward to it. I’m actually surprised he hasn’t already written about the WS team.

I wish him good luck! Maybe the Brewers can knock the Cubs out of first place. -
you're being ironic, right?

Pujols was genuinely good. His final season was so memorable. Cabrera did get the nod I guess despite being bad. Pretty dumb if you ask me. If the fans wanted to see these guys, they'd vote for them. NBA fans vote for bad players they want to see play. That's just democracy, only you have unlimited votes. that's good, but I don't think he should pitch over somebody who actually deserves it. I agree with your point to give Smith a break, however, I bet he'd really like to get out there.
-
Tend to agree, but too low volume of innings. He could blow up by inning 60 or whatever Shane is at. Smith is probably “the most deserving” simply because he started the season with the team. why is kershaw the first “legend pick”? What the f*** is that? Did Pujols or miggy get one of those? Which deserving player was passed over?

It’s a wild thing to say, that’s like telling a beautiful woman her elbows are too pointy. What’s him being slow got to do with ‘hustle’? One probably might prefer 1.300 OPS to, I dunno, Duke Ellis. It’s also never gonna happen, it’s why I think he won’t last at SS (especially as he gets a bit older), but looks like a perfect third baseman with his arm strength. From Pipeline: Montgomery exhibits below-average speed out of the batter's box but is an average runner once he gets going, albeit not much of a threat to steal. He moves well at shortstop, making plays with a quick first step, good agility for his size, a fine internal clock and solid arm strength.

Should’ve waited for him to get to rule 5 status…oh wait. Something tells me he’s not gonna bat .600 the rest of his career, but I’m certain those “he’s here too early” posts are not going to age well. Reminiscent of how Crochet couldn’t be a starter since he didn’t have the prerequisite “required innings”. Precedent is overrated. -
Yeah, we like historical preservation! Even better when the structure remains functional. I see your point though, I think Wrigley is 'just another park', but old, whereas Fenway is genuinely unique. I've never been, I think you're probably right that it sucks to see a game there compared to a new park with 'optimized' sight lines, but it's such an interesting baseball field with wacky dimensions largely because of the historical moment when it was built, when the builder might've had to conform to an asymmetrical site because urban land was limited. Didn't have some giant site in the countryside because you couldn't just drive out there in 1912. Wrigley is similar in that its a key fixture of its neighborhood whereas, I dunno, Dodger Stadium or SoxPark or even Yankee Stadium are 'placeless' and could exist anywhere. The sites are gigantic, most of which is devoted to parking spots, which function like buffer between the ballpark and the neighborhood. You might just walk past Wrigley or Fenway on your day-to-day and not even like baseball whereas the only reason you're walking past Dodger Stadium or SoxPark is to see a game. Of course, the new style is 'cookie-cutter nostalgic'. Every park is designed to evoke nostalgia and they all do it in the same fucking way because only one firm designs them and every team wants the same thing. The parks are "more intimate" but that just seems like marketing speak for "there aren't as many seats because we needed that space for box seats and restaurants, anything else besides watching baseball."

7/4 Independence Day Porta Potty Bowl: Sox at Rox 7:10 CDT

Can’t watch the game tonight, but I understand Colson is debuting! Wish the guy good luck!! Go Sox!!!! -
Agreed. In no world is a well-regarded prospect who you had to protect from the rule 5 draft ‘not ready’. He might suck, but he isn’t being rushed; and check it out, you can send him back down. I mighta thought he would’ve produced these numbers during spring training and made the team then, but it didn’t happen. He’s doing it now though, wonderful, and what is the guy actually gonna work on in AAA? If you’re his coach, what are you asking him to prove? Again, if he isn’t ready and sucks, demote him, then you get a clearer idea about the player. At a certain point, the next developmental step is the MLB. If he isn’t “ready”, he may never be. I think you’re right, it’s sink or swim time. I think we all expected him to join the team last season before floundering — maybe it was just the injured back and he’s better now; maybe he sucks at baseball and was exposed. It’s time to find out and I’m very excited to watch him play. Colorado makes sense for what another poster said, bad pitching + hitter friendly conditions, but I mighta liked to see it at home. The hitting conditions are good here now too. now the question is: when will Wilfred Veras debut? I definitely thought that guy was making the majors before Elko. Or Kath. I’m just glad Monty the Elder is making the league before Monty the Younger or specifically before Bonemer or Bergollan. the guy is gonna rock

Guess he never really went more than three innings, but the expectation was that he's a starter and one might assume he's more prepared to throw multiple innings than he is to do one in the 9th inning.
-
You're probably right. I just think the guy is clearly the best pitcher out of the bullpen and has the stamina to do 2 innings since he is stretched out as a starter. He just really had a bad time. I don't think you expect that poor of a performance. Nerves maybe. We probably would've won if the manager made a different choice, but I like the decision. I think try it out a few more times and see what happens. who cares if we win these games? I'm not mad they lost how they did. Score more runs next time.
-
what's the reason? closers are not typically guys that were, a few weeks ago, starting. throwing 9 balls in a row sucks. put him out there again for 2 innings next time. it's an awesome decision to make. he's a rookie. they make mistakes under pressure. do the same thing again. shoulda turned two for sure though. Sosa too slow, Ohtani surprisingly fast. what can't that guy do
-
regardless of how this game ends, the 2 inning closer is an awesome role for Taylor. shout out Venable for having an imagination.
-
but our man back out there in the 9th
-
bud, you've just said absolutely nothing is my point. you insult people about "identity politics", call them a "turd", you should at least be able to explain why you would say that to another person. do you actually agree with those values if you can't support them?
-
He was much better in his last outing @NYM, but you have to think they pulled him so that he could get that K at home. I think that's why the fans are particularly annoying tonight and why a White Sox win would be that much sweeter.
-
you insulted me, I asked you to explain yourself, you seem unable to. LOL! just LOL! I am also a dick, but at least I don't insult people out of the blue and then am unable to defend my point of view. Why'd ya call me a turd?
