If you were worth $5 billion, would you be living in a modest 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home? I don’t see the big deal here. Rich people live in mansions and Ishbia’s wife apparently likes horses. They can afford it and they will also be paying a very large sum in taxes to live there. Google says that it was $568,272 in tax bills in 2021.

And you apparently had them at 77 wins which doesn’t make the playoffs either. Congrats, I guess? It looks to me like no one nailed the prediction because no one voted for 83-86 or 87+ wins. I guess the 4 people that voted for 79-82 will likely be the closest.

Looks to me like the majority (15 people or 25%) voted for a 71-74 wins, with the next largest group (14 people or 18%) voting for 67-70 wins.

The FO said that they were going to trade for a project starting pitcher and a project CF that may not actually help them in a playoff hunt this season, but it’s okay because they said that’s what they were going to do? Huh? Also, Castillo has had 5 bad outings out of 6. It isn’t just one bad outing. And he’s running out of outings for this season and playoff hunt.

Good point. By WE’s own defense of the trades and citing the Sox winning percentage, apparently this means that the trades weren’t a resounding success. The Sox winning percentage has decreased post-trade deadline.

Except Getz traded away a starting pitcher option that would have been better in the rotation than Castillo for that late inning outfield defense that you love. Hell, go sign Billy Hamilton out of retirement and you could have the same thing, along with Adams in the rotation instead of Castillo, and Boston Smith still in the minors. It pretty much stinks any way you look at it. There is no polishing these two turd trades.

Where was the market for Castillo and Doyle? Can you find some articles that said that other teams were interested in these two guys? Why would there be a market for these guys? Why would an expensive starter with a 5+ ERA that was pitching poorly in a pitcher’s park (T-Mobile Park) and owed $23.75 million next year garner any trade interest? Also, why would an outfielder that hasn’t OPS’ed above .600 in two full seasons while playing his home games at Coors be sought after? You are making excuses for bad moves made by a GM that you will defend no matter what. Getz has made some amazing moves but it’s obvious that he is was in over his head at the deadline. We are sitting here with two injured players, a backup CF that barely plays, and a $23.75 million dollar starter that most Sox fans want removed from the rotation already.

This isn’t accurate. People have been saying that if Getz didn’t trade for Castillo that the Mariners would have placed him on waivers, hoping some team would claim him. The Mariners would have dumped Castillo’s contract on that team quicker than Reese McGuire bussed in his car in that Florida strip mall. Regerding Doyle, the Rockies wanted to dump his ass because Cole Carrigg is younger and better than Doyle. I don’t think it would have been a surprise for the Rockies to non-tender an outfielder that can’t even OPS above .600 in the offseason. Am I being crazy and unreasonable here? Meanwhile, Getz traded away actual assets for these two utter bums that definitely aren’t helping the Sox in their current playoff run. Try to refute this… You can’t, but good luck trying.

Didn’t Getz actually do that very thing with Tristan Peters, which I have praised him for? The Sox needed a starting CF since they traded Robert and obviously Acuna wasn’t the answer, but Peters ended up being the solution. So apparently it IS possible to acquire a starting player within 9 months as you proposed! I guess I was right to have those expectations. Thanks for proving my point! 🤣

So both Vargas and Peters ended up being great acquisitions. No argument there. Yet you can’t admit that these most trade deadline acquisitions absolutely sucked? Why not? They did. It’s a fact at this point. No one wants Castillo in the rotation, much less have him around next year and meanwhile Doyle barely even plays so he is a non-factor that wasn’t worth a trading away a viable starting pitcher for that has been better than Castillo. It was an awful trade deadline.

Oh yes. One month is the equivalent to 21 years. Keep grasping at straws. @fathom had called out the Sox struggles against left handed pitching at the deadline.
