Where the Panicans at? Future Looks Bright!
Ishbia can’t take over as owner until 2029 at the earliest and potentially as late as 2034. Murakami will become a free agent after the 2027 season. The press release said, “As part of the agreement, Ishbia will make capital infusions into the White Sox as a limited partner in 2025 and 2026 that will be used to pay down existing debt and support ongoing team operations.” I didn’t see any mention of Ishbia making capital contributions beyond 2026 or until he actually owns a controlling interest. I guess it’s possible Jerry offers a large contract to Murakami with the idea that it will mostly be Ishbia’s to pay off in the near future, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Are you referring to AAV when you say Pete Alonso money (5-years, $155 million)? Because that would be $310 million over 10 years. Murakami is 5 years younger than Alonso so if he continues hitting the way he is, that might not be an outrageous number. However, it would be for Jerry.

It always seems like they bring in a bench player that knows how to throw some trick pitch like a knuckleball or knuckle curve.

I think it’s more about saving innings in the bullpen in a blowout and obvious loss, moreso than about avoiding injury.

Not sure what was funnier. The ball boy trying to pretend he didn’t interfere and nonchalantly play it off or the Dbacks LF staring him down.

This is the White Sox. When it comes to defensive positions, we don’t usually do ideal. The initial choice for CF was an infielder by trade. Meanwhile, Pereira has played more games in CF than both corners combined.

I thought Pereira can play CF? Doesn’t look promising for Acuna playing there in the long run.

Put yourself in his shoes. Even if you weren’t completely motivated by money and fame, would you literally take less than you are worth?

Good start. Hate these west coast games. I fell asleep before this one even started. Good thing an old man tinkle woke me up.

All things LA Dodgers Thread...
What restrictions on spending? Both Freeman and Muncy could be gone when Murakami becomes a free agent. Would anyone put it past the Dodgers to play Rushing or Murakami at 3B?

Munemania: Murakami leads league with 12 HR
Freddie Freeman will be 38 years old and a free agent after the 2027 season. They could also opt not to pick up Muncy’s 2028 option. That could leave their corner infield open. The Dodgers will be the perfect fit, and regardless of Ishbia supposedly chipping in or not, the Sox won’t be beating them in the free agency game if LA wants another Japanese player to take over 1B for them. We already saw his buddy Ohtani helping him with his swing during the WBC. Murakami would have to more than likely want to stay with the Sox and accept a hometown discount. Sure, the Sox will have money to spend but they have to be willing to spend it, while also facing competing [higher] offers. And I have only named one team in the Dodgers that could have interest. Let’s be honest, anyone that has high hopes of Murakami staying is simply wishcasting.

Already have a trade candidates article
They basically named a bunch of obvious trade candidates on one-year deals. We knew these guys would be trade candidates the minute they signed. Not really anything newsworthy here. I do like how they bothered to mention Hays’ mutual option as if those are ever agreed upon by both sides.

4/19 Sox vs [insert location] A's
Like others have already responded, your Google search was flawed. You got the save percentage result for all MLB relievers, not just closers. A 66% save percentage would not be good for a highly payed closer, and I didn’t even need AI to know that.

You failed at Google. 🤣 But even without your failed attempt at Googling, you really thought a closer failing to save one out of every three games would be good?!? Wow…
-

A closer with a 66% save rate would be terrible.

What can you say it's just comical at this point
If his only path to playing time is LF because he can’t beat out Meidroth to play 2B, there’s a bigger problem with this team. Letting guys compete and earn their spots. A guy with a sub-.700 OPS in two straight seasons shouldn’t automatically be the undisputed starting 2B.
