  1. Huh? You think the Rockies didn’t sign Quintana with the plan to deal him at the deadline as well? I also doubt Quintana signed with the worst team in baseball because he wanted to play in Colorado for half a season until he is inevitably traded. Colorado simply offered him the most money, but I doubt he wouldn’t have accepted the same deal from the Sox.
  2. You spelled “incite” wrong. I confirmed with BRUUUCE. But yeah, this is the documentary I truly want to see.
  3. Agreed. I’m not defending him. I just think that’s what likely happened. But yeah, the fact that no one corrected Getz after he made the same misstatement four times is scary.
  4. “Even GMs make mistakes: Getz says White Sox 'still love' Acuña ... even if he can't switch-hit“
  5. I still think it was more than likely that Acuna had simply been the Mets’ offer for Robert the entire time. We heard Acuna’s name for months and the trade never happened. Then we heard about the Sox being open to eating potentially up to half of Robert’s remaining money in the right deal, but also how Jerry would likely not want to eat any money for Cohen in a Mets trade due to their rivalry. Perhaps the Sox would have eaten some of the money for a better return from a more frugal payroll team than the Mets (Pirates, Reds?) but I am doubtful. The absolute rapid fire succession of moves that Getz made after Robert’s $20 million was freed up tells me otherwise. So ultimately, I wouldn’t be surprised if Getz didn’t really look into Acuna all that much because it was pretty much a take it or leave it offer, along with eating all $20 million of Robert’s deal. From the Mets’ perspective and even before their offseason moves, Acuna was always the guy that made the most sense for them to trade for Robert due to a roster redundancy at similar positions that Acuna plays, the fact that he was out of options, and that he is a post-hype prospect with declining value. I wouldn’t doubt that Getz likely knows a lot more about other Mets prospects that they simply refused to give up, including @Chicago White Sox‘s favorite target Ryan Clifford.
  6. With any other owner but Jerry, it’s probably a key trade if the Sox are willing to eat money because that would have improved the return. Even without eating money, Acuna is probably going to be their starting CF to start the season, replacing their outgoing starting CF.
  7. Yes, he was pretty skinny when he talked to my company but I just assumed it was because he was finishing up a round of chemo.
  8. Brutal. Last June, he gave an hour-long and in-person discussion for my company about being an advocate for health, awareness, and community. It was shared live with the entire company via Teams. He seemed like a cool dude and was extremely humble about his successful career. I remember him saying that he was feeling better after treatment. He is survived by his wife and six children. RIP.
  9. Perhaps the other female posters were scared away by you calling another poster “RubRub”?
  10. Quintana is very arguably a better pitcher than Fedde, signed for $6 million with the Rockies, and will more than likely be traded by the deadline, which is the very definition of a stop gap. I can’t imagine he wouldn’t have signed with the Sox considering home games at Coors are going to destroy his stats this year. I also don’t think that $6 million for a year should have been unrealistic considering the Sox needs.
  11. In modern terminology, “guy” can refer to women as well. Regardless, how is everyone supposed to know that Autumn is a female? She isn’t exactly stating this fact in all of her posts, even if she ever stated it in the past. Perhaps Ray Ray missed the post in which she stated this? Regardless, not trying to be sexist but I think most would assume that the majority of posters on this site are males.
  12. Yep, this just further cements to me that the return for Robert (outside of Pauley) was well-known for some time and it was more of a take it or leave it type offer from the Mets. Getz didn’t have to research much regarding the main piece since Acuna is simply what the Mets were willing to give up, hence the errors.
  13. C’mon… If I call my nephew by the wrong name, that could be misspeaking. If I call my nephew by the wrong name four times in a row, that’s because I don’t know it or can’t remember it.
  14. That’s the bigger issue. The concern is that no one on the brand new staff Getz assembled corrected him before he repeated his error three more times. If that’s more on the Marketing team, then Boyer needs to figure it out, but the stats of a newly acquired player would seem to fall under Getz’s purview.
  15. Would it be crazy to expect a GM to look at the Split stats of a player he is acquiring?
  16. That’s more of a wife thing to do (trust me, I know), but there were a few articles talking about his inevitable divorce from the Phillies. 🤣
  17. I like him even more now. Let’s sign him for the veteran minimum difference.
  18. Does it really matter at this point? BRUUUCE LeVineLine is a parody on his own.
  19. As usual, BRUCEEE gets it completely wrong, with at least one typo at the minimum. Hey Bruce, why aren’t you questioning why no one that he hired corrected him? Who wouldn’t love a boss that can spout incorrect information and you don’t even have to pay attention or step up and correct him/her?
  20. This is the real problem. Apparently, Getz still hasn’t hired someone that will assist him with getting the basic scouting facts on players correct or will step up when he says something completely boneheaded like he did four freaking times in a row. This is seemingly no different than the Kenny and Hahn era where either no one beneath them was worth a damn to know that they made a mistake and/or they were too afraid to correct them to their faces. Just think about it — our GM said the same erroneous thing four times in a row in public and had to be called out by a Twitter post before he “corrected” himself. How did no one on Getz’s great new staff not notify him of his gaffe after the first or second time he said it? He said it four times!
  21. I hope even more that that’s Mune’s music, but I’m a bit doubtful. 🤣
