  1. I can’t imagine another team not offering him the same money or more than the Sox, and why he would want to come here anyways unless the Sox have the highest offer?
  2. Jerry said that the 2023 season was personally embarrassing for him so he hired Getz to bring the Sox back to respectability and winning without wasting a year. Getz proceeded to lower payroll and have two losing seasons after that. Are you going to believe anything Jerry says? Indeed. He’s a snake oil salesman.
  3. Sure because he’s not good and no where close to earning his contract. If he was putting up 3+ WAR every year, no one would care much about his contract. Instead, he’s been worse than replacement level. 2023: 0.4 bWAR 2024: -0.8 bWAR 2025: 1.0 bWAR
  4. $100 million dollar contracts aren’t even really big anymore. Only to frugal teams like the Sox and A’s. Also, the Sox signed Adam Dunn for 4-years and $56 million. Jason Heyward’s contract with the Cubs was 8-years and $184 million. Totally different ballparks between those two contracts.
  5. You’re right. And the Rays gave Longoria a $100 million dollar extension years ago. It is the A’s and Sox remaining.
  6. Good. He can get injured again for another team and miss half the season.
  7. Was that the total value of the Machado contract if he hit every incentive? 🤣 You’re right though — the Sox and the Pirates are the last two teams to never have signed a player to a $100 million dollar contract and the largest for the Sox is Benintendi at $75 million.
  8. Fraser Ellard, the guy who pitched 41 total mediocre innings and just retired? That’s a stretch.
  9. And it did. So the Sox are the last team to have never offered a player a contract above $75 million. “The Pirates have made Kyle Schwarber a four-year offer, sources told The Athletic. The report says it’s probably worth more than $100 million.”
  10. They are looking at the top guys — a 30 year old failed reliever in the majors and a 34 year old guy nearing retirement. Good to know. There has to be better players than this in the overseas market, even outside of the top guys.
  11. We can’t develop our own lefty specialists? A team not expected to compete should be able to do this, considering they can give multiple guys innings to see what they can do.
  12. It’s funny. If we have so much talent in the minors, why not develop our own relievers? Why trade for them like Booser last year and Murphy this year?
  13. The comments are even clowning how cheap the Pirates are.
  14. Your very first comment was about extending Robert. What do you think that would cost? Regardless, Jerry isn’t spending $100 million dollars on one player or several anytime soon.
  15. Haha, yup. You say you aren’t shopping him and then follow up with this statement… - “It’s very truthful that we are not shopping him (Luis Robert), because we’re very comfortable having him in a White Sox uniform, knowing what he’s capable of doing. Now if it makes sense for both parties to work out a deal, then so be it. But we’re planning on him being in uniform for us next year.”
  16. It’s funny how he doesn’t understand this. Robert didn’t switch to Boras to take a hometown discount. Also, why does he think Jerry is spending $100 million dollars on any single player at this stage in time? Besides the fact that $75 million is his largest contract ever.
  17. Apparently Seinfeld is banned in ChiiiNuh.
  18. Getz is still scouring the Asian market for deals on stiffs.
  19. It’s pathetic what this team has come to. Trying to get deals on mediocre or washed-up players that played overseas.
  20. No one wanted him because he is still owed $17 million dollars over the next 3 years. “Blue Jays sent RHP Yariel Rodríguez outright to Triple-A Buffalo. Rodríguez, who is owed $17 million over the next three years, passed through waivers unclaimed after being removed from the club’s 40-man roster to make room for Cody Ponce.“
  21. He also hit .236 with 142 strikeouts in 486 PA. https://mykbostats.com/players/2771-Patrick-Wisdom-Kia-Tigers So that’s a 29% strikeout rate in the KBO. Yuck.
  22. 2026: $5M 2027: $6M 2028: $6M player option or $10M club option
  23. He’s available and would cost peanuts. Right up the Sox alley.
