I don’t think that really matters much for Kay anymore. In his 5 seasons in the MLB before he went to Japan, he earned just over $2 million total. I’m not sure what he earned in his 2 seasons in Japan but Getz gave him $12 million guaranteed over the next 2 seasons. Kay will be nearing 33 years old when he is a free agent again. Getz pretty much set him up for life with this contract. Even if he never pitches for another team after the White Sox, around $15 million in total career earnings for a bad pitcher is pretty amazing.

Before going to Polish supermarkets, I didn’t realize that they smoke damn near everything. I was looking for raw sausage to cook but everything is already smoked.

The best Vodka I’ve had was Polish, not Russian. It was yellow instead of clear but I can’t remember what brand it was.

It’s funny going to different Binny’s in different areas. The River Grove, Illinois Binny’s location near Belmont and Cumberland which is heavily populated with Polish and Ukrainians has stacks of the first three beers you listed. I’m sure they sell more of that stuff than their craft beers.

I would have gone with another vet starter then. Point was getting a guy on a one year deal. Kay is more than likely going to be $12 million wasted on a bad lefty reliever once he is moved the the bullpen, and he’ll be back next year.

When Japanese numbers don’t translate…

Like I said a week or so ago, he was seemingly giving up a lot of hard hit outs right at defenders in his starts. I think it’s finally leveling out. This guy was never successful in the majors before. Would have rather taken a flier on Giolito for one year and $5+ million or so, although I know all about the arbitration argument over a measly $50K.

It’s like having a west coast game in Chicago. How many people are going to fall asleep to this one?

From what I have heard from him over the years, Stone absolutely loves steak, hates all vegetables, and eats his hot dogs plain. Someone posted this before, but he literally has the palate of a child. I also thought it was pretty obvious that Benetti was eating all the different food from the concourse as a marketing deal.
