  1. Who needs young pitching when you barely have a rotation and a mediocre bullpen?
  2. True, but don’t forget — Getz traded these two young pitchers for them. Christian Mena Luis Rodriguez
  3. Venable was not a more coveted managerial candidate than Francona. Francona took a year off from baseball due to health issues but that didn’t automatically make Venable more desirable. Desirability is indicated by pay. Counsell got 5-years and $40 million guaranteed a year earlier. Francona is rumored to have received 3-years and $15 million guaranteed from the Reds. I’d bet that Venable is no where near either of those contracts. The Sox beat out the Marlins in the final offers. There was no massive rush from multiple teams for Venable’s services. Just offers from two of the worst and cheapest teams in baseball. Perhaps if you would have stated that Venable was “the most coveted young managerial candidate” it could have been a true statement. But you didn’t say that.
  4. It’s difficult to debate with such hyperbole. Apparently, Venable was “the most coveted managerial candidate” of the 2024 offseason. Not the guy who reportedly signed for $5 million a year for 3 years in Francona. Does anyone think Jerry gave Venable $15 million guaranteed?
  5. The Sox hired Grifail and he was an absolute joke. I truly believe he fits your first paragraph’s narrative. Meanwhile, the Sox reportedly beat out the Marlins for Venable’s services. ***** golf clap *****
  6. And who wouldn’t want to accept a promotion from a team in which the organization has historically not fired their front office people after years of poor results? Also, how low are Sox fans’ expectations that it’s even impressive to sign a first-time manager? It’s not like a first-time manager is going to command a ton of money like Craig Counsell. The Sox bread and butter throughout the years (minus the awful TLR best buddy hire) has been signing first-time managers because quite simply Jerry is cheap. Just sad how low the expectations are with this team. Jerry has brainwashed everyone. “Listicle.” 🤣
  7. Talk about getting burned.
  8. That penalty was a joke.
  9. Sure, but do you think those other expenses account for the $190 million dollar difference?
  10. So isn’t this proof that the Sox aren’t actually “losing money” as has been stated in other threads? They just aren’t making the revenue that they expected or want. Hence the slashing of payroll to Marlins levels. Will be interesting to see the 2025 revenue numbers.
  11. Look at the team that claimed him — one of the few organizations as dirt cheap and awful as our Sox.
  12. He’s going to plug up the big dumper so he doesn’t drop any more bombs?
  13. Just like everyone in the original post, even more roster detritus from our GM.
  14. See, he’s so bad you couldn’t get his name right!
  15. Getz loves Meadiocrity.
  16. Can’t wait to watch that prospect we got for Civale develop…
  17. I was told he didn’t lose their trade though…
  18. Andrew Vaughn getting interviewed. LOL!!!
  19. Uribe wild in his second inning…
  20. He is giving Ricketts and Hoyer the perfect excuse to not give him $400+ million. Outside of potentially losing this series, Ricketts is probably happy.
  21. Yes, probably. And the Brewers will gladly bring him back. But don’t forget, Getz got Civale… 🤣
  22. Kyle Tucker is a choke artist.
  23. That ball was absolutely smoked by Hoerner. Lucky for the Brewers it went straight to a guy.
  24. Juan Uribe’s brother is so good. I’d let him finish it. 🤣
