  1. Exactly. The counter-argument would be that the “younger” guys need more time in the minors so that’s why the vets are playing. I’m not saying they will even pan out but there is zero reason to continue giving at bats to guys like Capra, Rojas, and Noda — ZERO. And good god, Elko will turn 27 after Christmas and Baldwin will turn 25 in a couple months. They definitely aren’t being rushed.
  2. The funny thing is that he’s getting more of his at bats against lefties, so the matchups should be in his favor more often than not. An excellent veteran signing. The new market inefficiency.
  3. And Crapa has a .287 OPS, and no that isn’t a typo. One guy has zero future, while the other might.
  4. Only Getz and Venable know the answer to that one, and it probably still doesn’t make sense.
  5. Can’t risk losing Capra to another team.
  6. We have enough to start our own Clone Wars… Are we being too Sithy? 🤔
  7. Civale wanted to remain in the Brewers rotation or be traded to another team that would use him as a starter. The Brewers removed him from their rotation for their top prospect Jacob Misiorowski and just didn’t want a problem child on their hands.
  8. Yes, no rebuilding team can have an outfielder on their roster in their mid 20’s that can put up a positive WAR because… rebuilding… the catch-all excuse for anything and everything.
  9. Palacios outrighted to Charlotte. Yet another player no other team wanted, yet he played 51 games for the Sox this year and reached 145 plate appearances. He put up a .596 OPS and a -1.1 bWAR. 🤣

Do you have $254 million dollars? Then you might be cooking. But Jerry isn’t flipping the bill either.

A 5+ year rebuild for Getz? Wouldn’t be surprising at all. Hopefully, Ishbia finds a qualified GM when he takes over.

He’s not even in charge of the team yet officially. But you are expecting him to add payroll to a team he won’t even own for 4 more years at a minimum?
  13. Better than being around to flog your dolphin to any and all transactions a terrible GM makes like some people… Since the new market inefficiency is vets like Tauchman and Slater, I will be expecting much better prospect returns for them than Dru Baker.
  14. Yeah, that’s what I expected for Thaiss… a superstar. But not necessarily a 25 year old career minor leaguer with a .560 OPS in AAA…
  15. Agreed. Throw DeChoach out there as well for all I care. Figure out in the second half of the seasons if any of these bums can get hot and pan out like Vargas has done so far. We don’t need to be wasting more at bats on bums like Slater and Taylor.
  16. I don’t agree with this. I have no faith in Fletcher but perhaps he breaks out? Didn’t Vargas do the same? Taylor is a sunk cost. He was $2 million bucks and he likely isn’t netting a prospect at the deadline. He can earn the rest of his money in the role he was intended to play when he was signed — a backup/fourth outfielder that can play all three OF spots. Regarding Robert, as much as I joke in the game threads about trading him immediately after every hit, it probably makes sense to wait until the deadline to try to trade him. While not likely, perhaps he gets hot in the next 7 weeks and ups his trade value.
  17. I was looking at Charlotte’s roster to see what outfielder the Sox could call up in case they finally trade Luis Robert. I noticed Dru Baker is rocking an MILB line of: .198 / .315 / .245 / .560 Awesome pickup, Getzy!
  18. Agreed, but Taylor is awful as well and gone after this season. They may as well play someone younger than Taylor that the Sox still may have control of past this season. Hell, even Zach DeChoach. Why waste at bats on a bad 34 year old vet? You don’t understand that?
  19. If they trade Robert, they may as well call up Fletcher and let him play CF. There’s no reason to be starting 34-year old Taylor on a 1-year deal.
  20. He’s the new White Sox mascot to replace Southpaw.
  21. You will all be excited to know that the Sox managed to retain Bryse Wilson… “White Sox sent RHP Bryse Wilson outright to Triple-A Charlotte. Wilson had been designated for assignment earlier in the week. He passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as extra rotation depth for the White Sox at the Triple-A level.”
  22. It’s a bad day either way. 🤣
