  1. Definitely a worse team on paper than last year’s, which was to be expected with their “top” players hitting free agency and the expected trades of Fedde, Kopech, Crochet, Robert, etc. Maybe they somehow perform better than last year’s team, but I can’t imagine it will be by very much.
  2. Everyone enjoys slowing down to look at a car wreck on the road.
  3. Exactly. There’s no demand for Sox coverage because they are the worst team in baseball. Therefore, tough (but obvious) choices had to be made. This doesn’t seem too difficult to understand.
  4. But if they reduced coverage the most for the Sox over other MLB teams, couldn’t that be because the Sox are such a bad team right now that there is very little interest in viewing coverage for them? And this in turn would put some of the blame on the Sox — basically for fielding such a bad team that no one cares to watch coverage for? Basically, if Jerry didn’t run such a shitshow team, CHGO would have retained more of their Sox coverage staff. Yes, Jerry didn’t fire them but he is indirectly to blame for the results. No one is interested in a crappy product, so this is what happens.
  5. His brother Payton is a linebacker for the Steelers.
  6. Girthy, but he’s doing just fine…
  7. I wouldn’t touch Baty with a ten foot pole but I think you nailed it. If Robert can net us either a top SS or CF prospect, you do the deal. If he can somehow net both a SS and CF prospect, you accept the deal yesterday and nut in your pants.
  8. Haha, the life of a Sox fan. Trying to contemplate how a guy that signed for $1.05 million will perform.
  9. Yes, the guys on The Score were saying this as well. Why not just make the full company name “Rate.com”? That way you are at least advertising your site, even if it is obvious.
  10. I had zero idea either. I’ve only seen these guys on YouTube once in awhile.
  11. He can run into some homers against righties. Maldonado style, but from the left side. He still has no bat.
  12. Both Thaiss and Robinson are older backup catchers. Both traded for cash. Like I said, these guys are a dime a dozen.
  13. Jamie Burke Chad Kreuter Martin Maldonado Kevan Smith Geovany Soto
  14. Jorge Fabregas was traded by the Angels to the Sox in the Tony Phillips trade, which did not involve cash considerations. Josh Paul was drafted by the Sox, released in 2003, and signed with the Cubs before he joined the Angels in 2004. What do these two catchers have to do with what @Quin posted?
  15. Meanwhile, Jerry has flashback nightmares about giving Benintendi $75 million. The Orioles will probably sign/trade for one more starter.
  16. Glad the arrow is still pointing down.
  17. This is why it was kind of weird that the Sox were so insistent on keeping Chuckie Robinson on the roster all last year. It really isn’t that difficult to obtain a no bat backup catcher.
  18. The Cubs also haven’t been the laughingstock of baseball the past two seasons and didn’t set the modern era loss record. They have won 83 games in back-to-back seasons. Not good enough but not historically awful either. The Cubs had the ninth highest opening day payroll in the MLB last year and just acquired a “big guy”. Now they get to see if they can re-sign him. But have the Sox ever even acquired their version of Kyle Tucker? I’m not defending them, as I am not a Cubs fan, but the truth is that the Cubs are in a far better place than the Sox are.
  19. Yeah, not quite. They just acquired a top ten hitter in baseball. Meanwhile, the Red Sox use us to groom aces for them.
  20. Warren should be gone too. He’s part of the problem.
