  1. I’m thinking Chicago Pope is a sham account and just using the ESPN 1000 tweet as his source. And the ESPN 1000 tweet already said 4/$100-112 wouldn’t be enough anyways.

Is Thorpe even going to pitch this year?
  3. Exactly. Once he didn’t get the long-term contract offers he was expecting, he took a short-term deal with the idea that he would prove his star status and worth. Why would he now jump to accept a piddly $100 million hometown discount extension rather than wait a year for multiple bidders and possibly triple that number? It only makes sense if you haven’t been paying attention.
  4. He’s hit .233/.333/.302/.635 OPS in 52 plate appearances on the season. He’s a AAAA player, perhaps fourth outfielder at best. Surprised there was even three posts made about the guy.
  5. Is this a hybrid foodie account? Chicago Pope with a cartoon image of the pope holding a hot dog?
  6. I’m shocked that Jerry would be willing to commit to a massive hometown discount (4/$100-112 million) that would still make him and the team way more money than they are giving to a Murakami, just on the marketing alone. 🤣
  7. Your comments about Machado are after the fact with the benefit of hindsight. At the time, he was a 4x All-Star, 3x Silver Slugger, and 2x Gold Glove SS/3B hitting free agency at the young age of 26. He also had amassed 35 bWAR at that point in his career. So yes, he did look like he was worth it. What about Harper?
  8. He’s doing it wrong. The proper strategy is to cut-rate your ticket prices and collect that bounty on parking, beer, and concessions! But honestly, the funny thing is that the margins on those items at those prices is still probably 75% or higher.
  9. Yeah, I agree. I’m also fine with Kelenic getting a shot first. I just didn’t think any Sox fans were clamoring to sign 34 year old Grichuk.
  10. C’mon tray, where is the historical evidence of Reinsdorf coming up big and signing a star when he needed to? Signing Machado or Harper? I think it’s pretty fair for most Sox fans to say, “I’ll believe it when I see it…”
  11. Are you Kenny Williams with this sort of rationale on acquiring players when they are basically one foot into retirement? I hope this is sarcasm.
  12. It happened, and was well reported on this site at the time. You must not have been paying attention, lemming. Maybe you should try succeeding at a Google search first, unlike the last time you tried to tell everyone that 66% was a good save percentage for a closer, and you could have easily found out the details for yourself. Stupid organizations do stupid things, so perhaps you should accept the truth rather than s%*#-talking posters who actually remember the facts of what happened? This happened as well during the same season… AudacyTony La Russa says White Sox players told to ‘slow it dow...White Sox manager Tony La Russa does not want his star players getting injured so they’ve been told by training staff to take it easy on routine outs. |
  13. And told to not so briskly jog the bases, lol. You can’t deny this s%*#. It actually happened, and it continues to happen.
  14. https://www.baseball-almanac.com/dictionary-term.php?term=injury%20rehabilitation%20assignment “injury rehabilitation assignmentDEFINITIONSending a major-league player recovering from an injury or illness to a minor-league team for the purpose of getting him back into playing shape before resuming his place on the major-league roster.” The Sox called Hays up earlier than they intended due to Murray’s injury. Then, even Venable was trying to limit his playing time for obvious reasons.
  15. Hays DH’ed one rehab game and played LF for another. Then, they called him up. It sure seems like Venable was limiting his usage of Hays right after he was activated.
  16. Exactly. It also likely resulted in Hays getting reinjured with a second lower body injury. https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2026/04/27/white-sox-austin-hays-derek-shomon-will-venable-chris-antonacci-chase-meidroth “Before the game, they also gave their offense what they hope is another jolt by calling up outfielder Austin Hays from Triple-A Charlotte, ending his rehab from a strained right hamstring. The move was made necessary by a shoulder injury to Tanner Murray that will sideline him for four to six months.”
  17. Jerry is the owner of the single MLB team left that has never given out a $100+ million dollar contract to a player. $75 million was the highest as we know. I don’t think it’s anti-semitic to say that Jerry is risk-averse and frugal at the very least and more harshly flat-out cheap when it comes to handing out large guaranteed player contracts.
  18. Delusional. Benintendi is at -0.8 bWAR and -0.5 fWAR. 🤣 The only reason the Sox can’t DFA him is because they are too busy bringing one of their only decent outfielders back too early and getting him reinjured. Which then leads to them having to sign washed-up vets like Grichuk.
  19. Maybe the Sox told him to slow jog the bases but he didn’t listen. 🤣
  20. The theme of the Sox bringing back injured players too early continues…
  21. He makes Benintendi look young.
