I wouldn’t say he is under pressure from JR, even if he botches this trade deadline. Getz was gifted the GM job cuz he was the only man left standing to fill the role. He also cut payroll a ton. He will still have a lot of rope with JR, even if he screws this up.

Getz was finally given the okay to cut Oldy Moldy Kenobi loose by his Dark Lord of the Sith JR.

Finally, a move that makes sense. I just hope this means DeJong is traded soon, Little Nicky is sent packing, Baldwin plays SS, Senzel plays 2B, and Colas gets called up to play the outfield. And once Senzel plays himself to the bench or another DFA, call Sosa back up to play 2B.

It’s not really a waste of money but it could be a waste of at bats that would be better served for a guy like Colas, if Senzel ends up playing the outfield at all. But I guess an outfield spot could open up for Colas when Pham and possibly Robert get traded.

Most teams have a guy like that already on their team or in the minors. A glove first infielder that can’t hit at all. Maybe if the Sox eat most of the remaining portion of his $4.3 million contract, they can trade him.

But those guys actually had previous productive season(s). Even Senzel’s best season in his rookie year was still pretty bad. I am fine with picking up these types of players, but I would hope that they have actually shown they can put up at least one good season in their career.

He really needs to be the next to go. While some team will trade for DeBong, I don’t see any team being interested in Slappy Nicky.

I read that Senzel will primarily be playing 2B, so Getz may actually be trying to see if he can revive a proven bad 29 year old and turn him into a cheap starting 2B for 2025. It would be one thing if Senzel was 26/27, but he’s been proven bad in 6 seasons and he’s not even young anymore.
