You are right about catcher, but that’s how quickly it changed. I thought they were stacked at catcher and reserves in the offseason. It looked good on paper — Teel, Quero, Lee, and Romo.

You have a point. They were literally two acquisitions away from doing what you said. Instead, we get this and Lee/Haase soon.

They may as well shut him down right now. He is completely ineffective and he is nearing his innings limit anyways. How much do they want to continue to shatter any confidence he has remaining? Ironically, this is where Mason Adams could have helped.

Unless they are really banking on one of Thorpe/Smith/Urquidy to step up, it was not a wise decision to just settle for Castillo. They needed a second starter. A better catcher than Bart would have been nice as well but the price was high. I still don’t get the Doyle acquisition when you end up dumping two outfielders to get him.

He made acquisitions more for next season than for this season. The Doyle trade is proof of it.
