  1. I would probably take that bet. But that isn’t really the true comparison anyways. The Cubs might be getting PCA for 6-7 years rather than 4 like Tucker, and for far less money than $240 million.
  2. This is true, along with his metro attire and hair coloring. He’s trying too hard to be Hollywood for his girlfriend. Just play ball, toolbox.
  3. Much smarter than giving a ton of money to Tucker. Although the Cubs should be able to afford to do both.
  4. Well, the Sox already returned one of their Rule 5 picks back to his team. It will only be a proven mistake if Pallette lasts long enough on the Guardians roster for them to earn control of him. Chicago Sun-TimesWhite Sox return Rule 5 draft pick Alexander Alberto to RaysThe Sox still have some roster battles to sort out in the final days of spring training.
  5. This season will be telling.
  6. Why can’t it be that some posters simply disagree with you? Also, I’m not sure how one can truly be positive or negative over a Spanky McGuire signing. The Cubs signed this guy to a minor league deal in January 2025. He doesn’t really move the needle either way over Lee, IMO. And that’s the point some posters are trying to make. Hell, the shame factor associated with McGuire alone almost makes me rather have Lee as our backup catcher. 🤣 Meanwhile, you tried to make the argument that this McGuire signing by Getz looks great in comparison to one of the worst backup catcher signings also made by Getz when he overpaid a 37-year old Maldonado $4.25 million guaranteed US dollars. No, this McGuire signing does not look any better just because you compared it to one of the worst backup catcher signings in recent history.
  7. You can’t really compare a typical signing like McGuire that any GM could make to the epic stupidity of Getz deciding to overpay old man Maldonado $5 million dollars. The only reason the McGuire signing would excite anyone in comparison is because the Maldonado signing was so ridiculously stupid.
  8. Sox finish ST with a losing record, 15-16.
  9. Meh, Hagen Smith will be better. No question…
  10. And the putrid looking rotation is going to put a kibosh on any chance of .500 happening.
  11. Sure, but I mean on the hosting side of things.
  12. Put it toward a LF and send Benintendi to the glue factory. 🤣
  13. Widger was simply a dirt cheap signing that worked out decently by sheer luck. He was 34 and hadn’t played in the majors for 2 years. He was playing for the Camden Riversharks in the Indy league before Kenny signed him. Yes, people are overvaluing Lee, but I would hope 27-year old Korey Lee has more value than Widger.
  14. I think a lot of people are probably overvaluing Lee, but his age, Teel’s presumably short time out, and the timing of Teel’s return perhaps assisting with sneaking Lee through waivers to Charlotte make this a somewhat strange move.
  15. Gotta be some sort of DNS issue.
  16. I do like how this shows they could eat Benintendi’s deal if they wanted to, like @southsider2k5 and you? have mentioned. Benintendi’s contract is already guaranteed. The Sox have to pay it regardless. Would they be better suited eating his deal, and opening up the roster spot for a player to start in LF that could be better? Or perhaps start Sosa there?
  17. I doubt the Sox want him on the big league roster as a bench player. The highest level he has played at in the minors is AA for 49 games. Let him start everyday in the minors and marinate. If Meidroth struggles enough to be benched/demoted, call up Antonacci to start at 2B.
  18. I think Venable should stay away from a potential McGuire Peters lineup. Those two back-to-back could get messy.
  19. Definitely if you start from Getz’s first offseason. He acquired a bunch of stiffs his first offseason and burned a pile of money.
  20. I tend to agree with you. However, Lip posted an article that said Sox management is not a fan of Lee’s defense and that McGuire’s lefty bat better complements Quero’s strong-side righty bat.
  21. And that’s probably a wrap for Tauchman’s career.
  22. Tauchman is 35 and injury-prone. Not a surprise. I still think the Mets are managing Robert better than the Sox ever did. Can Robert still get injured? Of course.
  23. That’s correct, but occasionally he can nut one out.
