  1. He was definitely the first. I remember at the time that it was coming off of Hahn’s press conference in which all the qualities he described in the next manager he was looking for fit Hinch to a T. So it made no sense when Nightengale was basically saying TLR was a lock to be the next manager, other than the Jerry connection. It really seemed like he was way off, but unfortunately he was right. It really showed how Hahn and Jerry weren’t on the same page. Hahn definitely wanted Hinch but Jerry overruled his decision for his old buddy. Remember how depressed Hahn looked in the press conference when he had to announce TLR as the next Sox manager? That was brutal to watch but also hilarious because it was at that moment Hahn was officially neutered in front of all Sox fans and we realized he could barely make any decisions on his own between Jerry and Kenny.
  2. I’m not arguing. I’d probably take that offer for Robert in a second. If both guys pan out, you could fill two of your remaining outfield spots along with B. Montgomery. At worst, Ewing could probably be one of the best utility guys in baseball.
  3. Instead of wearing those shirts, the players should have towel snapped Madrigal as hard as they could with a wet twisted towel end every time he mentioned getting 3,000 hits.
  4. Ewing would probably be the headliner over Gilbert then. He’s probably rated higher than Gilbert now on most lists.
  5. For as low as 2-years and $20 million, it most definitely is, which would be an extension within your proposed range. Once again, the new agent Robert hired in January 2024 doesn’t negotiate within your team friendly preferences. Try to read the tea leaves. It’s right in front of your face and you are missing it.
  6. Yep. Every extension he suggests is team friendly. Meanwhile, the fact that Robert switched to Boras alone indicates that he would never sign an extension like this. It’s just not what Boras does. He’ll either hope Robert stays hot and somehow a team picks up his $20 million dollar option or if he finishes with a mediocre to bad season, he’ll take the $2 million buyout and try to find a team that will throw 1-year and $15 million at him and play for a big contract after 2026.
  7. I think that’s too big a return, although it would be awesome. This is what I was going to post. Gilbert and a lesser prospect. Getz thinking he’s getting back a top prospect but realistically one that has seen his stock decline and is aging out of prospect status. Reminds me of Vargas.
  8. Since finding pitchers is the one thing the Sox seem to be good at, I really hope they focus on positional prospects as the return for the majority of players they deal.
  9. He was too busy making dance videos.
  10. He’s gotta be trolling his teammate, right? How is there even a Michael Taylor t-shirt… anywhere? Did he have it custom-made? 🤣
  11. In 2024 Spring Training with the Sox, right? Ironically, he went on to have a good season with the Braves last year.
  12. Can we go back in time and trade Cease for Spencer Jones? https://www.milb.com/player/spencer-jones-682987 😞
  13. Yep, I saw McMahon mentioned as a cheaper 3B fallback option to Suarez for the Yankees and Cubs. I also just don’t see Sosa netting a prospect/player better than him, but who knows…
  14. Join the club. 🤣 I just get annoyed by the trade deadline waiting every year, so I just try to forget about it until July 31st. It’s so lame how most teams wait until the very last minute. Wouldn’t acquiring additional players early also help you win more games prior to August? So annoying…
  15. Yuck. We have enough pitchers that walk the world…
  16. I know people have hopeful visions of Justin Crawford from the Phillies for Robert, but why wouldn’t they just call up Crawford instead? But the again, I guess it is Trader Dombrowski over there…
  17. He probably got sick of the never-ending cycle of getting signed and then DFA’ed by the Braves.
  18. Need to stop prematurely busting over this s%*#. Deadline is still a week away. 😞
  19. Brutal. RIP, Hollywood. One of the best matches of all time for the little amount of work he could still do. The crowd reaction, the playing to the crowd, and both Hollywood and The Rock changing roles from heel to babyface during the course of the match.
  20. Worth a shot. The problem with Getz is he keeps acquiring these outfielders that are already a bit older than you really want and then he decides to sign veterans instead of giving them playing time. I realize it’s obviously more difficult to acquire a 23 to 25 year old outfielder that is putting up numbers like Robertson, but if you acquire a guy that’s already 27, you need to see what you have with him ASAP. For example, look at Dominic Fletcher. I don’t think much of him but do we even know what he truly is yet? Could he at least be a fourth outfielder? He was 26 when he was acquired and he is already going to be 28 in early September, yet he only has 241 plate appearances in a Sox uniform. Either acquire these 26-27 year old outfielders, stop signing old vets, and actually give them a real shot, or stop bothering to trade for them. You know when a perfect time to play these guys is? When you have back-to-back seasons with 100 losses. Getz’s strategy with these guys is bizarre.
