  1. Agreed. It’s funny. I don’t mind looking at the lineup at all. But I cringe a bit looking at that rotation.
  2. Regarding your first paragraph, I guess we will have to see. I already said that Robert is injury-prone and he could easily get hurt regardless of any of this early Spring Training protection. However, regarding your second paragraph, the Sox pulled the same nonsense of playing guys that were still injured with not just their franchise player but a veteran in Tauchman as well, and that was as recently as last season. In both cases, it led to further time on the IR for both players. How often was it mentioned that the Sox would keep injured players on their active roster instead of calling a healthy player up and still choose to either play the banged up player or simply play games a man down? The Sox have been pretty bad at injury and roster management for years.
  3. I’m not familiar with either The 78 location or this new location. I am only familiar with the areas around Ogilvie and Union Station from commuting downtown via the Metra for a job for a year. I never traveled that far south from those two areas. And yes, I do remember that you never said it would be an impossible task/project. I believe you doubted it would happen because building in the area would be a money pit for such an undesirable location. I assume you wouldn’t be a fan of this new location for a new Sox stadium either since it is pretty close proximity to The 78? It seems like this new location is actually smaller than The 78 — 47 acres as opposed to 62?
  4. Let’s be honest — the Mets are managing his injury-prone ass way better than the Sox ever did. Robert could still very well get injured, but I recall the Sox having Robert active and in the lineup when he wasn’t even healthy yet and simply told him to jog the bases rather than run full speed. He was clearly still hobbled. And it’s not like the Sox learned anything from that situation. Remember last season when Tauchman was obviously not ready yet and he reinjured himself running the bases at a snail’s pace? So they played the same stupid injury game with both their franchise player and an old vet on a one year deal. The Sox are historically dumb as hell when it comes to this.
  5. Yep, he even included it in his infamous “He better stay outta White Sox business” tirade about the best player in franchise history.
  6. Probably. He knows who made him rich when he could have been out of a job long before he finally was.
  7. Unfortunately likely. That rotation is UGLY.
  8. With Jerry still the owner, our local sports writers are probably still too cowardly to ruin their relationship with the Sox by spilling any dirt.
  9. 3 easy teams on the schedule now. Will be interesting to see how the playoffs go with the IHSA adding 128 teams to all of the classes. I agree that 3 wins will now make the playoffs which is a bit of a joke. However, I still think the Catholic League schools will ultimately dominate the playoffs anyways.
  10. Thanks! It’s a 3 hour drive up to De Pere, WI for me so I’m not sure I will go to every game, but I will definitely take my younger son to some of them to watch his older brother. They do stream the games as well. They were good for a long stretch from 1999 to 2018 but not so great recently (.500 team). He mostly chose St. Norbert due to really liking the campus, the major he is interested in, and the scholarship offer he received. As my son has already yelled at me about — when you are 6’2” and strong, don’t procreate with a 5’3” lady. Look for a 6+ foot volleyball player and produce an NFL player. 🤣
  11. So far, I think only AJP and Hahn are making some side cash by spilling the old beans. You have to wonder when Kenny will jump into the game.
  12. As I looked through the article, I imagined Benetti eating every single option during a White Sox broadcast, much to the anger of Brooks Boyer and Jerry.
  13. Great job on the upgrade! Did this latest update get rid of a ton of the pop-up ads? Seems like I had a ton after the site was first restored from the initial outage and they are now mostly gone after this second planned outage. And phew, I was automatically defaulted to the dark theme. I knew there was a setting in my profile somewhere for a light versus dark theme but man was that dark theme tough to read. I changed it to the bright theme in my profile and the site is so much easier to read now, especially by phone.
  14. Has @tray weighed in on this yet? Silt bed quality, enough room for plenty of parking, ingress and egress options, etc.?
  15. I’m guessing that report was bad. Yikes.
  16. With the luck this team had last year in the injury department, probably. Let’s hope not.
  17. Eh, it was a terrible call considering the situation — a 2-1 score with a runner on 3B and a full count to Perdomo. I haven’t seen anyone even denying that it was a blown call. Perdomo drew the walk and it would have been runners at the corners with 2 outs, an even higher pressure situation for USA. Win it legitimately in that situation instead. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/48220531/dominican-republic-frustrated-game-ending-blown-ball-strike-call-semifinal-loss-team-usa-world-baseball-classic
  18. The dude is 19 and has zero MILB at bats. Seems like the right place for him.
  19. The ultimate preemptive excuse for being bad regardless of anything else. It’s an unfair playing field and the Sox don’t have a chance even before the season starts because of an owner that doesn’t really care to spend money.
  20. The comment I was responding to was about eventually winning after a rebuild, not about attendance. We all know the Bulls still make money hand over fist because of a cool logo and Jordan’s legacy, not from currently having good teams.
  21. The bolded could be a copy and paste comment made on this site during the last rebuild, which ultimately failed. I also seem to remember how pumped up you were about the Bulls’ young team and future hopes last year and yet they still appear to be stuck in NBA hell. Nothing is guaranteed, especially not with a franchise owned by Jerry.
  22. You know Jerry smokes a cigar and ponders why he can’t have two terrible teams that never win anything but both make money hand over fist just because they have cool logos and had some good teams ages ago.
  23. What a shameful way to end that game 2-1.
  24. And to expand on this, I’m sure there are a few teams that would rather have Lee as their backup catcher than whomever they currently have, but would they take the chance to claim Lee after only a couple weeks into the season while needing Lee to learn an all new pitching staff? Perhaps he could be slipped through waivers for this reason. I love the idea of retaining all four catchers going forward — Teel, Quero, Lee and Romo. Ironically, Hahn is responsible for both Quero and Lee but Getz did a good job of acquiring Teel and Romo. This has to be the best the Sox have looked at the catcher position in ages, especially if they can manage to keep all four guys.
