  1. Seems like a smart deal for both sides. PCA is set for life with generational wealth and the chance at one last big contract once this one ends. The Cubs still barely spent any money after cheaping out and not giving $240 million to Tucker. They can also choose to let PCA walk at age 30 if he is on the decline as other posters have mentioned could happen with his style of play.
  2. The rotation honestly looks like ass on paper to me, but the lineup doesn’t seem that bad. I just can’t imagine the Sox not improving on last year’s record. If Passan nails his prediction, the MLB will need to come up with their own version of the Razzie Awards. A new “Potato Executive of the Year Award” with Getz as its first recipient.
  3. Passan hate us cuz he ain’t us.
  4. Agreed. I don’t have much faith in Kay and Fedde, especially this second time around.
  5. Doh, total brain fart. Hilarious because I just looked at the schedule yesterday and told my Cubs fan buddy that they open at Milwaukee.
  6. I think 101 losses is still pretty crazy to predict. I don’t think it will be that bad. However, if it happens, Getz should get some sort of award. Four straight 100+ losses seasons would be pretty impressive.
  7. Bump. The T-Mobile deal for free MLB.TV started today. My son just activated it for me. Information here: https://slickdeals.net/f/19221493-t-mobile-customers-2026-mlb-tv-season-stream-subscription-free-to-claim-via-t-life-app-valid-thru-3-31
  8. That’s a tough goal to accomplish, even if given free tickets. Are you taking the train to avoid paying for parking?
  9. No one needs this new story to serve as a “tired old trope” that Jerry is cheap. Jerry signing off on the invoking of the diminished skills clause in Frank’s contract in 2002 is enough historical evidence to say that yes, Jerry was being cheap and valued saving money over pissing off the best player in franchise history. Michael Jordan had a similar clause in his contract as well.
  10. “And she’ll like it too…”
  11. Don’t bother. Jerry has seen this case before many times and puts his best lawyers on them immediately.
  12. That diminished skills clause that Jerry invoked really screwed him out of some money. 🤣 https://www.espn.com/mlb/news/2002/1015/1446467.html But yeah, he has been known to not be the wisest with his money.
  13. Yep, starts at age 62.
  14. Exactly my first thought. $50,000 is chump change. Frank is probably getting way more than that in annual residuals from Nugenix every time that commercial plays in which the woman wants to cuck her husband with The Big Hurt.
  15. Trying to steal their biz. Bastages. They should sue them, and probably will. 🤣
  16. What about Howard Ankin? “Injury Law Made Personal.” Although you can’t beat that advertising for Lerner and Rowe. No one will ever forget that phone number. “CALL 222-22-22!”
  17. Seems like chump change in any case, so I can’t imagine there won’t just be a settlement. I don’t know what specific agreements Frank had with the Sox or Nike and Fanatics, but I don’t recall any other Thomas with #35 that has played for the Sox since Frank retired in 2008.
  18. I disagree. If you don’t go to a lawyer first, you lose. He lawyered up for the very purpose of getting this settled. It’s becoming fairly obvious that the White Sox don’t care much about Frank Thomas being the franchise’s best player, so why should he care about Jerry and his profits?
  19. And his injury issues last year as well, so that’s two years in a row. I’m still not quite sure where I have always been critical of Tucker. I thought it was a good trade by the Cubs but then they cheaped out on resigning him once the market dictated that these guys are no longer getting $400+ million dollar contracts. But going forward, yes I would rather have a 5-year younger potential phenom CF for more years and at half the price. Not sure why this is such a crazy thought. Realistically, like @southsider2k5 has said, they should have signed both.
  20. “That man has tried my patience for years… You know what? He better stay out of White Sox business!”
  21. Sure, and I agree with you. And not that you made this comparison, but other posters have been comparing PCA to Tucker as far as value goes. Tucker is definitely not someone I would bet on to stay healthy either… https://www.foxsports.com/mlb/kyle-tucker-player-injuries
  22. Haha, Haugh truly is the ultimate Cubbie fan stooge. At least Mully knows his team sucks and can admit it. If any player’s annual floor is an All-Star, you could put them in the Hall of Fame today. What a homer.
  23. This is true, but Tucker already has the miles. Tucker just turned 29 in January. PCA is turning 24 tomorrow. I’ll take the prime years of the 5 year younger player over the next 4 years of Tucker going into his early 30’s.
  24. I never said I dislike Tucker. I think the Cubs made a nice move to trade for him but then botched it when they refused to resign him, when the contracts are now actually much more team friendly (much shorter term in years with a higher AAV). I just don’t think Tucker will be as valuable as PCA for less years and far more money. Even when PCA is slumping with the bat, he provides value with his defense and SB.
