  1. Spanky McGuire went 2 for 2 with a HR. Sox ST record drops to .500 (15-15).
  2. Trading any young prospect for AAA fodder like Julks is always a bad move. Julks is a guy you sign to a minor league contract or claim off waivers for free, not give up any level of talent for. It was a bad trade. Almost as bad as Fajardo for Booser.
  3. Nope, it’s a major league guaranteed deal for $1.2 million.
  4. I don’t understand this move unless Getz thinks he can get something decent in return for Lee in a trade. McGuire isn’t a bad backup and he hit a lot of bombs for the Cubs last year in minimal at bats but I’d still rather have Lee. Lee also didn’t beat his meat in a parking lot. 🤣
  5. Jhonkensy Noel hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth Saturday in the Orioles’ 10-8 win over the Phillies. It’s still disappointing no non-contender claimed Noel off waivers when the Orioles managed to sneak him through in January. He’s gone 8-for-21 with two homers this spring, and while he’ll never completely overcome his contact issues, he’s still just 24 and more interesting than some of the guys getting jobs as fourth and fifth outfielders.
  6. Tauchman already injured. Shocker…
  7. Are we sure he is going to AAA or does he have an opt out?
  8. Tigers released OF Austin Slater. Slater exercised the opt-out in his minor league pact with the Tigers after he wasn’t added to Detroit’s active roster by the deadline in his contract. The 33-year-old veteran outfielder should be able to latch on somewhere as a lefty-mashing part-time bench player.
  9. I can confirm this. I didn’t notice any issues with the site at all, but I had been on WiFi the entire time using my Xfinity/Comcast cable Internet connection. However, I just turned WiFi off on my phone so it is using my data, which is Xfinity Mobile, and the site won’t load at all. It just hangs forever. Xfinity Mobile uses Verizon’s network for coverage.
  10. Justin Crawford wins the Phillies’ starting CF job and Andrew Painter earns a spot in their rotation, bumping Tajuan Walker to the bullpen. Unfortunately, I don’t think they would have any use for Benintendi.
  11. Hopefully he doesn’t make Alexander Alberto look like the dumbest Rule 5 pick of all time.
  12. I don’t think much of ST stats but he definitely earned the gig.
  13. 6 innings 3 hits 3 walks 11 strikeouts 0 earned runs
  14. Surprised about Kelenic with Baldwin still hurt. Does this mean Hill is making the roster? Yuck.
  15. Tell Jerry to eat Benintendi’s salary then. Good luck.
  16. Yep, and they want to help Wade get another gig somewhere after his big day.
  17. His fastball is averaging 93.9 mph. Unfortunately, the next news on him may be announcing his retirement.
  18. I’m surprised they haven’t tried Sosa in LF yet, which makes me think they have no plans to dump Benintendi any time soon. Even if you don’t think Meidroth is the long-term solution at 2B and want Sosa available to play there, the Sox already have better options in the pipeline to play 2B than Sosa.
  19. Hilarious. Football players heights are just as ridiculous.
  20. Fanboy Merkin isn’t going to ask the important questions. I’m surprised the title of the article isn’t, “Thorpe in the best shape of his life; anticipating breakout season”.
  21. And after that “massive” Murakami contract, Getz had to dump Robert to make additional moves. Obviously things won’t be changing in free agency until Jerry is no longer the owner.
