Chasing Records — 121 losses, modern MLB record
Imagine the ‘89 Sox in a league full of 2024 Sox. Guys like Daryl Boston, Scott Fletcher and Dan Pasqua would have been perennial all stars. Ozzie would be the Ozzie Smith. Baines, Calderon and Fisk would have been like Ted Williams, DiMaggio and Campanella on the same team

92 losses? Sounds like a pretty good team at this point

Comparing 1970 to today...
I didn’t see the ‘70 team, but just looking at the baseball reference page I think its safe to say they’d wipe the floor with this team

1 pm on a Thursday. Is MLB just trying not to make money or what- Baseball is dying, a history
Incorrect. Gaslighting is the new national pastime. I hardly ever see anyone out playing football- 5-move day: Ramos and Peralta called up, Bush sent down, Senzel jettisoned and Jacob Amaya claimed. Ramos back down, Amaya up.
If a good organization dfa’s someone that means a good org thought they were good enough to have on their forty man in the first place. Just because the astros don’t have room for him doesn’t mean the worst team of all time doesn’t- 5-move day: Ramos and Peralta called up, Bush sent down, Senzel jettisoned and Jacob Amaya claimed. Ramos back down, Amaya up.

This sucks for Ramos at the moment, but they can just add him in a few days anyway. I don’t see what’s the big deal. This improves somewhat the young controllable infield depth- 5-move day: Ramos and Peralta called up, Bush sent down, Senzel jettisoned and Jacob Amaya claimed. Ramos back down, Amaya up.
A .240/.300/.400 hitter would be an improvement with this team.- 8/25 Tigers vs Sox, The Quest for #100
That’s always been the problem with the WC though- Thorpe update...
Why’s it a problem? Worked pretty well for Tiger Woods- Jake Burger trade
Burger has a career .800 OPS. Eder was never ranked that high as a prospect, ever, not sure where you are getting that from. He has pretty much always been the definition of a B-, back of rotation ceiling type prospect- Boyer: 2025 Ticket Prices down 10% on average, Schriffen and Stone expected back
Tell Brooks to add another zero to that number and he’ll have a buyer over here- Sox claim De Los Santos, IL Wilson, recall Varland
He doesn’t have a contract. Next year is his first arb year- Braden Shewmake status
Right, but why’s he still on the 40 man? Makes no sense- MLB considering 6IP minimum for starters
Yeah soccer limits substitution but it doesn’t prevent you from removing a player. Icing? Come on man! This is like having a rule that goalie couldn’t be removed until the third period- MLB considering 6IP minimum for starters
What sport doesn’t allow a player to be removed? The only one I can think of is Buzkashi, although you have at least a decent chance of being removed by death or paralysis there- MLB considering 6IP minimum for starters
I just don’t see how you can have a rule where a player can’t be removed from the game. I thought the three batter rule was questionable to begin with, but six innings? That’s ludicrous- MLB considering 6IP minimum for starters
I’m guessing the 30% of major leaguers who earn their bread pitching in relief wouldn’t be too thrilled with this proposal- Expand the Playoffs and Start in September
I kind of agree. Either go back to having the best two teams in each league face off straight away in the league championship, or reduce the season and go hogwild on playoffs. What’s the point of a 162 game season when you can lose to a team that you were twenty games better than in that massive marathon of a season. You’d think 162 games would be enough to determine a 105 win team was better than an 85 win team. If you’re going that route, cut the season to 112-120 games, expand the playoffs to like sixteen or even twenty teams, then have a series of round robin pool play to eliminate teams until you arrive at the league championship series. Would make for way more interesting baseball with teams constantly facing elimination for two months- Sox planning more playing time for Vargas/Fletcher
After the Renteria to TLR to Grifol turn of events, I have to say I have come to the conclusion this is 100% the top consideration. Like many others, I was critical of Renteria for his in game decisions, but let’s face it, manager’s tactics come down to a lot of luck anyway. In retrospect, I’ll take the questionable moves every day of the week if you have a manager maintaining a cohesive team with a winning mentality. Like Berra said, 90% of baseball is half mental. Give me the psychological therapist. Half these ball players are nuts anyway- LAD&PHI had "attractive" offers for Crochet
Where did you get respectable offers out of that? It mentions a couple prospects that were not offered, a prospect offer rejected due to injury, and that Benintendi was included in talks for salary relief in exchange for lesser offers- Jake Burger trade
Trading a productive major leaguer under long term control for a solitary B- prospect is never a good idea IMO. If they got two Eders I could buy it. Straight up? nah- NYY vs Grady’s Boys
