Honel Injured!
I believe an MRI was taken and nothing showed up. Don't worry, he's fine.

It won't be long
Won't happen because every spot on the 40 man roster is filled. As for Reed, I'd keep him down in AAA until September. With Timo Perez platooning with Rowand, you don't need another lefty bat unless he's pulling another Birmingham on us. All of this is moot considering there is absolutely no room on the 40 man since Dransfeldt's contract was purchased. Also, I'd prefer to call up Borchard even if he's hitting merely "mediocre". The Sox used another option on Borchard by optioning him to AAA this Spring so Joe can fly abck and forth between Chicago and Charlotte as much as the Sox please.

Oh No!!!!!!!!
At this point in the year Dunn was hitting only .216, this year it's .400. I honestly think Dunn can and will hit .270-50-100. He probably has the best raw power out of anyone in the Bigs and his upside is absolutely huge. He's only 24, mind you. Would I do Wing, Pacheco, Carlos for Dunn? In a heartbeat. I saw the replay of Dunn's homer against Maddux today, holy s*** that thing was f***ing demolished.

any word on Frank yet?
Yeah, he's only getting on base at a .451 clip. f*** him.

any word on Frank yet?
The Sox do have an open spot on the 40 man and could call up Reed, assuming they want to.

Oh No!!!!!!!!
Adam Dunn is flat out destroying the ball this year. My love affair with him continues.

Low 90's fastball that he can throw through a teacup, plus curve and a change that is coming along.

Gamethread 4/17/04 @ Tampa
Wanted to comment on something: DJ was talking about how fast Crawford, Baldelli, and Cruz were then he mentioned that the Rays had a minor-leaguer who has also insanely fast. DJ said it was B.J. Upton, but I'm positive that 2B Joey Gathright could destroy Upton in a race. I'd pay to see Gathright vs. Ruddy Yan.

Aaron Miles
Rex is right with the outfield situation. To sum it up, Coors Field has a Park Factor of 1.126, highest of any park in the majors. To break it down mathematically, say that the average park gives up, say 500 runs, just to be easy with the math. With a PF of 1.126, that can translate into Coors scoring 112.6% of runs in a "neutral park". So 500 x 1.126 = 563 runs, 63 runs more than a neutral park.

Danny Wright
WHIP is a fantastic stat but I really prfer anything BaseballProspectus throws at me (Anything EQ, PERA, VORP). I love VORP, I'd marry it if I could. Either that or MLVR...oooo sabermetrics.

Danny Wright
5.18 ERA, ahem. If it was up to me I wouldn't even have Wright on the roster, I loathe when he pitches. He just throws because he doesn't have a damn clue how to pitch.

Evaluating SOX players
I think all of this may border on the stupidity of Elias' "stat" known as the productive out.

Official Opening Day Meetup Thread
I know a lot of posters from SoxTalk will be at the game tomorrow, so I think this would be the perfect opportunity to meet up with some of you guys. Here's what I've got planned: Meet up at the BOTTOM OF THE FAN DECK (where the concession stand is, facing away from the field) at the end of the 4th/Top of the 5th. Once we get a few people we head on up to the Fan Deck and chat it up. What YOU NEED TO DO IN THIS HERE THREAD!: Where are you sitting? WHAT ARE YOU WEARING? Bringing anyone with you? -- Time to answer the q's: I'm sitting in Section 107, Row 27, Seats 17 and 18 I'm wearing my authentic Home signed Joe Crede jersey, Sox hat with my shades on the bill. I'm 6'2 and shouldn't be too hard to spot. I'll be alone (oooo!!!) -- So come on people, let's get together and watch a hell of a game tomorrow! Also, if you see me, call me by my name. It's Mike, but if you call me Doyle you'll get my attention much better. So if you see me, call me Doyle If you have any questions IM myself (CerbahoWG) or DGSmUsTaNgBoY79 for info.

Opening Day
I'll be leaving my house in Valpo, Indiana at roughly 10:30 and getting to the Cell hopefully an hour before game time. Gives me time to sit down, enjoy two wonderful Kosher dogs and enjoy not being in school. I'm in section 107, so if anyone wants to meet near the Fan Deck, just say so.

The Minor League Board
And I'll be spending most of my time here! If anyone is unsure of anyone throughout the minors, not just the Sox system, fire up a thread and I'll get to it ASAP.

Honel leaves game w/ elbow injury
Double-A Birmingham righthander Kris Honel lasted four innings in an 11-1 loss to West Tenn before leaving the game with unspecified pain in his elbow. He is expected to be examined by doctors today. Honel, the White Sox top pitching prospect, struck out seven, but walked three and allowed three earned runs on two hits.

The official Sox in 2004 thread
Wow, just wow. You're quoting stats after 4 freaking games! Fine, I'll do the same. Rob Bowen, C for Minnesota has an OPS of 5.000. MVP. Yeah, let's show how Carlos Guillen has an OPS>1.000 when his career average is .720. Rondell White? .818. Ivan Rodriguez? .833.

Warthogs Announce 25 Man Roster
Update from me. I'm writing the Winston-Salem preview for FutureSox and I'm covering all the bases VERY thoroughly. Writing about the OF was quite a bit of fun
