  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 05:10 PM) I just still can't find myself to want losses this year. i know what you mean.... i am in a huge dilemma here. i want them to win every freaking single game. but if they just bring up the call ups.. maybe that will be a little less bearable.

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 12:32 PM) Watched Birdman last night. It was boring and pointless. I don't get why it was so lauded by critics and won awards. It was one of the dullest and most uninteresting films that I've ever watched. 1.5 stars out of 5. acting, the story and way it played out and it at a little niche that played well. but it is not for everyone. pretty much like i said, it is a Glengarry Glen Ross movie. it is all in the acting.
  4. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 03:30 PM) You are a true Sox fan. I did get to see the Sox in 2005 when they played in Seattle. i am going to speak for myself. i don't know if it was b/c i was a sox fan. but in the late 80's and until the strike, you know how many games i went to, (i was a season ticket holder) where it rained, and the freaking cold wx in late sept and esp for the season opener... i was not a fan i and my cuz were obsessed, everything white sox. ahhhh the good ole days. you youngins don't know crap.
  5. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 03:47 PM) Nah, I can hate Kirk Hinrich and Gordon Beckham for what they represent. nice...... i never thought of that , in that way. just like my hatred for kw..... b/c of what he represents. excellent
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 03:34 PM) Bingo. Being frustrated that a guy sucks is one thing. Hatred belongs to a special group of guys who really deserve, such as the wife beaters and general scumbags. yup just like belle and clayton.
  7. QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) Are we thinking Delmonico or Davidson has more of a shot to actually play 3rd at the majors? Delmonico seems to be having a really nice season and he's still a little young for his level. davidson .... avg 200 .... i am wondering if he sox would still give him a shot during spring training.
  8. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 03:14 PM) This is the money Panda is making right now. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...shtml#contracts I cringe at the thought of the asking prices of Upton and Heyward this winter. 17 mil per..... man i was glad then and i am more-so for loosing out in signing him. i really hate to be the kill joy here ...... but i can't wait to see who gets the QO's.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) Hopefully you read the pitching version of this from Will, in that seperate thread. This one is covering the hitters, with lots of GIFs and embedded video to peruse, along with some scouting tidbits and other great information. What do you think? Who do you like among these hitters and why? really nice write up. 1 question, does any think that Dayan Viciedo can rebuild his value. ????
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 03:03 PM) There was a "ritual" that leaked during the 2008 season where the team supposedly offered up their bats to a blow-up sex doll to get them out of a slump and that wound up being reported by the press. ahhhh too much info.
  11. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 02:59 PM) Drafting 11th is pretty much worst case scenario for this season (well that and Samardzija not getting signed by someone else so we lose the pick). anywhere outside the 11 th pick, will be bad. plain and simple.
  12. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 02:52 PM) Even with a protected pick I would steer clear of Upton and Heyward. Those are by far the best FA hitters so there will be plenty of teams interested which could very well turn into bidding wars. I know the SOX need hitting but it would take some financial creativity to land one of those bats. For some reason I'm doubtful the Sox spend the kind of money Upton and Heyward will get. Not trying to s*** on the idea, just not getting my hopes up. you made an excellent point. the money of a panda ..... forget about it.
  13. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=bro Basically someone with a personality similar to the stereotypical frat guy. i never knew that..... see i can learn new things at my old crusty age.
  14. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 02:19 PM) Dunn sucked but was always a good guy and a good teammate. I can't hate him for that. Swisher, however, cost us our best prospects, sucked for us, whined and complained all year, then we sold low on him and he suddenly decided to be good again. Plus he's the biggest "bro" in the MLB. He's probably my #1. biggest bro???? pls explain.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 02:01 PM) Understood, but the players that "bust" become hated because of their performance on the field. It may not be completely fair, but it is what it is. exactly..... good point.
  16. QUOTE (shysocks @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 01:53 PM) You've figured out the secret to winning games - hopefully Hahn or Ventura is reading this thread. well it can't hurt...... the sox came out last yr like the head was up their arse.
  17. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 03:33 AM) In my opinion no. It's not a lifetime pass. They should be doing much better. Cleveland, Minnesota, Detroit all took turns dominating the division. Kansas City appears to be doing so now. None of those cities has the advantages the Sox do in population, radio / TV deals, advertising and sponsorship possibilities. Yet the Sox can't even figure out how to make the playoffs in consecutive seasons. Let's put it this way, JR and EE have owned a major market team for 35 seasons. They've made the postseason five times and the overall post season record is 15-16, with 11 of those wins coming in 2005. That's simply not acceptable to me. Mark ref the bold...... that is what i was looking for. but i would add 1 important word. Mismanagement
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 03:47 AM) You know what, that's a reasonable position to have. If Robin is back there is no way the team will change its identity of this nonachieving lazy mistake filled bunch of ballplayers. I LOVED Robin as a player but it's true. How the hell is this team going to next April 1 turn this around? It can't. Unless he totally changes, starting in spring training with a military like camp (which he won't do) and thousands upon thousands of ground balls, fly balls to fielders; situational hitting; situational baserunning drills, nothing can possibly change. Even if its change for change sake. I can see why you'd skip the season as a fan. Cause there's no way in hell we're going to finish over .500 with Robin. It's just true. That's actually pretty damn funny. Kudos to Kenny on that one. how????? here he is making lite of a fvvck up situation that he put the sox in. he should really go and put his head in sand as a course for the embarrassment this team is in.
  19. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 06:03 AM) Here's some great quotes from KW where he talks about himself like he's f***ing Theo or some s*** with a proven record of producing winner after winner: Come on man, are you for real? You are an average GM that fluked into a WS in your 10+ year tenure. Thanks for being better than most of the s*** history of the franchise but you are nothing special. oh come on now.... those were nothing but plaudits being given to someone who many thought was leaving. you know, leave on a good note. it like here is your hat and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
  20. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 01:25 PM) I know Delmonico is only 23 but he kind of reminds me of Gillaspie. High number of errors, lots of doubles and little HR power. I do like that Delmonico draws walks though. if he has no or little power, then put him in the outfield.
  21. QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 03:34 AM) A player with a MLB contract must be protected or released. If money is owed he gets it which is why certain players owed large sums are relatively safe. ok, thanks,
  22. QUOTE (Saufley @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 04:26 AM) maybe our hitting coach should spend some time with him. By the way, is our hitting coach any good?? he made his rep with another team > Oak and did really good there.
  23. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 03:16 AM) Delmonico 3-4 with 3 doubles 3 doubles..... i bet that is a first. 3 hits and all doubles. nice.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 04:22 AM) Start the youth movement for the rest of the year. It's ok to give Eaton/Melky/Avi a day off once in a while for Trayce. i would also throw in Jose A as well. but the powers to be still thinks this team can make the WC.
  25. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 04:20 AM) His peripherals aren't as bad as his ERA and with how bad the Sox defense is, I'm inclined to believe it. He might not be the guy we traded for, but $15 million for a #3 on a 1 year deal is something a lot of teams would covet in the current market. yes and he might go back to what he was..... it is and will be a great gamble.
