QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 07:38 PM) Who cares. For myself, if I ever get to the point where I care about salary cap implications more than a rape, I have failed myself. The allegations are what they are, but I have no interest in taking that and trying to turn it into how does this hurt/benefit my team. and what can you do about the rape case??? what about a thing called privacy??? how bout let the police and the legal teams tell what is happening in due time??? there is nothing that can come from this from a FAN pov.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 07:31 PM) I think all that ss2k5 is saying is that worrying about the impact on the salary cap of a sports team of an ongoing rape investigation is a little callous. get real, the running of the team is important. things that neither the fans nor the hawks org can control is what matters. again, as i stated several times, the world goes on. the legal matters is Kane personal business. being callous, just to acknowledge there is a incident and respecting the due process of the law??? do you really know what you are talking about
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 07:08 PM) The people in the business can worry about it, but seeing as my paycheck isn't written by the Hawks, I won't. it is kinda of ironic that if you are not a hawks fan, why are you posting on something concerning the black hawks, a chi team. and on top of that, you are interjecting on a legal matter that as a person, no one knows what is going on, except for the legal world, unless you are doing this a a troll would. not that i am calling you one. the actions you are stating is. and to boot, you are not trying to figure out the legal stuff and yet you are talking about it. a strange reasoning here. ummmmm

they need a pat folley of the baseball world.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 05:44 PM) I am not nearly jaded enough to try to figure out what the salary cap implications of a Patrick Kane rape suspension are. First and foremost is trying to figure out if a crime was committed. one doesn't need to be jaded, this whole process is in the hands of the law enforcement agency, and the world continues to spin. the hawks have a problem on top of Kane crap. does that mean the hawks stop their course of business??? so the hawks have a problem starting in at least 30 days, when the camp opens up. aug 20's + /- the preseason games start and are the hawks have their roster close to being filled. then there the Kane issue, is he going to be with the team??? will he be able to travel b/c of this hanging over this head??? so again, time does not stop.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 06:24 PM) Patrick Kane has dug his own grave in the court of public opinion with his history of stupidity off of the ice. In a case like this, there usually isn't much hard evidence to come out, so waiting for that moment of clarity will probably never happen. yeah you are prob right in this. i am trying to go that extra mile not to form any opinion. on a side note, do you think he will be put on administrative leave pending legal investigation? if the hawks doesn't fix the salary cap now, they can use the AL as a temp fix, sign kuger and trade whom ever.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 05:16 PM) If you flip through the last couple pages you'll see me being extremely skeptical that they'll do anything with him. I'm genuinely expecting a contract extension - he's signed through 2016 and I don't think they'll let him got into the season without one. That's consistent with just about everything we've heard from the front office. I feel like the other times they've replaced someone - Ozzie, Bevington, etc., you could see it coming a mile away, everyone sort of agreed "it was time and they waited too long". Maybe fewer people care about this team any more, but it doesn't seem like they've reached that point. for me, my main short list or favorite is Roger McDowell coach - atl

QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) I really could give a s*** who is announcing. I want to win. i agree, but those announcer will help in those who can't get to the park. in other words, radio and tv.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) We made a big trade and several big FA signings last offseason and then counted on rookies at 2b, and guys with limited track records of success in RF, 3b, and C, and many of those positions stung us all year. If we're going to play these guys again next year and hope they get better...great. They may very well do so. But don't go spending huge amounts of money on guys in their mid-30s or trading for guys a year from free agency if you're going to do that. that is going to be a big problem. don't get me wrong, but those players are looking for the last big contract. in most cases. trading for a player who is 1 or 2 yrs from fa's may be the way to go, until the minors starts producing.

QUOTE (HuskyCaucasian @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 05:01 PM) This is not trending well for Kane. pls remember everyone is still innocents until.... well until they are not, according to the law of the land. fans are come to a decision rather quickly. i am being a stick in a mud, well b/c he is a hawk and b/c the off season is screwed up by the fiasco a the trading deadline.

QUOTE (bjm676 @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 04:44 PM) Where can I get the Kool-Aid that he is drinking? there some special liquid added with that as a sweetener

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 03:23 PM) rape kits/exams can confirm more than just sex occurred, with rape there's often trauma found that is not common to consensual intercourse. a rape kit is a list of procedures that nurses / doctors need to follow in an question of rape. there are these little boxes and sterile bottles to take samples of semen, to test whose are they after extensive dna testing, to see if there are sexual transmitted infections. basically it is a box to store evidence in case of legal actions. then comes the actual vaginal penetration examine with doctors and nurse in attendance to determine if there are any signs of bruises and forced penetration. any lack of this still doesn't preclude rape,

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 01:44 PM) If you're going to spend big money and make big trades to fill other positions and make this team competitive right now while giving that rookie/young player a starting spot...you are passing judgment on him. Your team can't afford for him to disappoint if you do that. nice.... really nice. i never thought of that, that way.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 01:52 PM) He isn't even in AAA yet. His command still seems a ways away. His BB/9 is still high, I think he walked 3 the other night in 5IP in AA. Edit: it was only 2 BB. exactly, some pitchers do make the jump from AA to the majors, i wish i can give you some examples. but the other point is, he is not a finished product. for my baseball uneducated opinion, i can see him having another yr in the minors, maybe AAA. you do make a good point tho

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 03:01 AM) He also said that he doesn't consider us out of the Wild Card race yet, so I don't know about this. he is saying the right things. being optimisticed and all that. i would rather have someone say those things when there is a small chance of making the run. now some could that as being delusional. but being a sox fan, is that a natural requirement???

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 12:55 PM) Rodon, Fulmer and Anderson all need to be close to All-Star level... That happens, they're just a bat or two away. With Nate Jones (looking as good as he has) and Montas, it has the makings of a nasty pen. That's the one good thing to come out of the last two weeks of play. i see the sox in 3 phases on development and reaping the reward for their hard workd in the immediate future, i do not know, the continuation of Rodon developing. the next phase, Fulmer, plus some of the advance prospects like montas, danish, anderson, may. the last phase the great young prospects that for me, is making this org system glow with potential not only those next yr in AA but all the rookies leagues and great fals...... really nice future. if the sox can get over the hump in the majors with a few players at key positions that needs to be fixed. this team will be a great for a very long time. ok i am drinking my sox kool-aid here.
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 01:06 PM) That's if Montas is ready which he isn't. Not yet. i agree, i still think he needs more pitching reps. if he is going to be a starter, he needs to gone longer innings. rhetorical question more of something to think about. has he ever gone the distance in pitching, what has been his longest innings pitched and how many times??? don't get me wrong, i want him to succeed as much as anybody, but i don't want to be blinded by the excitement of his pitching ability.

QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 04:13 AM) I think Eddy Alvarez would be a great candidate to send for the player under AA. He's an exciting player, and I'd love to know what the organization has in him. Additional reps against some of the better minor talent is exactly what he needs. i would be excited on seeing him on the arz league roster after the season. this may be a player who could be rushed a little. as you said, give him the reps. ~~~ edit, it is going to be really interesting to see who the sox are sending. can't wait to see the roster.

a real nice writeup. great fall 4 relievers 0 runs in 7 innings. real nice.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 02:06 AM) If you were accused of rape, would your wife/girlfriend come to your birthday party tomorrow? My point was that he was accused of rape 2-3 days prior to his day with the Cup. That many days later, he has his day yet his girlfriend and her brother show up to Kane's house? and kobe's wife stood right next to him in a interview. circle the wagons of friends, girl friend / wife, family member....... basic SOP for public support.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 11:05 PM) New York's Rape Shield Law § 60.42 Rules of evidence; admissibility of evidence of victim's sexual conduct in sex offense cases. Evidence of a victim's sexual conduct shall not be admissible in a prosecution for an offense or an attempt to commit an offense defined in article one hundred thirty of the penal law unless such evidence: 1. proves or tends to prove specific instances of the victim's prior sexual conduct with the accused; or 2. proves or tends to prove that the victim has been convicted of an offense under section 230.00 of the penal law within three years prior to the sex offense which is the subject of the prosecution; or 3. rebuts evidence introduced by the people of the victim's failure to engage in sexual intercourse, deviate sexual intercourse or sexual contact during a given period of time; or 4. rebuts evidence introduced by the people which proves or tends to prove that the accused is the cause of pregnancy or disease of the victim, or the source of semen found in the victim; or 5. is determined by the court after an offer of proof by the accused outside the hearing of the jury, or such hearing as the court may require, and a statement by the court of its findings of fact essential to its determination, to be relevant and admissible in the interests of justice. Also the district attorney who is in charge of the case so far is from the Special Victim's Unit and routinely prosecutes the county's hardest sex cases. I would bet that Kane's defense attorney has at most tried five sex cases, if any, whereas this assistant district attorney on the case has done maybe 100s. There is no doubt in my mind that the county has the more qualified attorney for this specific case. you did a good job and finding this piece of jurisprudence. nice job. now i would like to point out, i am not for or against anyone, i am only for due process of the law. in that, whether the lady making the claim or the hockey players making his claim. that, i do not care. i only care about the how it goes down and how anyone should not have formed an opinion prior to the the evidence being presented. now back to you little piece, i can see how the lawyers will hear the evidence and try to find loop holes in this any of this, the above ruling.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 09:53 PM) If you're ok with Avi in the OF, you're ok with Adam LaRoche at 1b. They each have similar chances of being worth something next year IMO. Play Avi and see if he turns into something useful, play LaRoche and see if he can turn around next year while playing for one last shot to stay in the league. If neither happens, then you're clear of LaRoche's contract and you know you need to replace Avi in RF. i disagree simply by pointing out the production of each players via the stats. what more does a player have to do, it is his first yr, he is of young age, positive results esp in avg...... why the hate???

this is not a reaction to the positive comment from the sox gm Hahn. but i am wondering why there was no pep talk from the president of the sox org that he has made, it seems as every month. except for this month. either way, i am happy Hahn is still at the helm and making moves.
