Sox have tried to sign Samardzija to a long term deal

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) They will give him a QO, and he will reject, which will net the Sox the comp pick. There is zero chance Shark accepts the QO. and as i said a win - win situation. the sox still gets a comp pick. -

QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 04:05 PM) The Sox offense is so bad that they desperately need to spend whatever they can on it. A lot of attention is needed on position players - it's the worst it's been in a generation. Let Shark walk and go with what we have in the rotation and farm in 2016. We shouldn't replace Danks with another Danks-like albatross contract. Shark isn't pitching well enough to warrant even $15 million per year. They needed a good start yesterday in a playoff-like atmosphere against the Yankees and he crapped the bed. i would offer shark a QO and keep him for 1 yr playing to recoop his value. it is a win-win situation. -
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 03:01 PM) I think Anderson needs as many reps as possible. It's not like he's a pitcher whose arm we are trying to conserve. He was raw coming out of college so getting him extended reps and seeing better pitching can only be a good thing. the thought process...... nice.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 01:51 PM) By gaining a draft pick for Jeff, I think I could suffer our 1st round pick on a hitter because the 2 I mentioned (Upton and Heyward), Upton will be 28 and Heyward will be 26. Sox have LaRoche and Danks coming off the books next year and Sox had major interest in Heyward before he got traded to the Cards this past off season, so I think it definitely could be realistic in going after him. I then would package AVI in a deal for a 3B or another pitcher. coming off the book in season 2016???? i am not sure of that, ref bold you make a point with ref to their age. now is the cost. -
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 02:47 PM) Can Anderson go again? If so, then Anderson, May, Hawkins, Barnum, Jaye, and Delmonico. me, i would like anderson shut down. maybe danish or beck.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 02:44 PM) I think you're only allowed one player under AA. Austin won't go as he's not even in A+, I'd assume they would rather have Adams shut down and resting and I don't think Barnum is ready. I could see Trey or someone like Ynoa being the under AA guy that goes. Hawkins and May are real possibilities though. excellent pov.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 01:38 PM) I love Jeff but, I would take the comp pick and use that money on a hitter in the off season like Upton, Cespedes, or Heyward. while that is not a bad idea, i have some concerns with that. 1. sox loosing a draft pick 2. the cost of the contract 3. is there a position that is more needed than the needs of the team?? -

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 01:31 PM) Part of me is kind of glad we aren't some perennial powerhouse. Well maybe. Take the BHawks for example: i grew up playing hockey and loving the hawks. It was like 10 bucks to go to a game. 2010 was the coolest thing that ever happened, couldn't miss a game. Then in '13 i watched every game after the all-star break and it was cool. This year I barely watched the playoffs. I almost got numb to them being so good and found myself thinking "This is what being a Patriots fan must be like. I'll pay attention when they're in the conference finals". So now I'm spoiled and hockey, my passion, is kinda ruined for now. It's still cool but it's different. We're almost TOO good. So cheers to our tortured souls watching our imperfect team. It'll be that much sweeter when Tyler Flowers pulls a Jeff Blumm in the World Series. excellent POV. but for me, i will greatly enjoy that journey to get to that point. the journey.... i can only dream... of consecutive yrs like that.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 01:18 PM) But he is a placeholder. We eventually need a run producer at 3rd especailly based on 2nd and SS. Saladino and Sanchez can fight out 2nd next year in ST. They both look more like .240 ML hitters w a good to very good glove excellent point. here is my main problem..... what is the standard (stat wise) for a good + 3b??? i think a description of a what is or should be look at.

QUOTE (Real @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 07:50 AM) he's like the combination of Javy Vasquez and Edwin Jackson no thanks, i'll take the pick plz. ummm you make a good point. what i remember is his start this yr. plus the stats, if i am right, shows he has a similar start most of the yrs he is a starter. -

QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 11:27 AM) He had a bad outing yesterday against about the hottest hitting team in baseball. Those are going to happen to almost every pitcher. I think he's been very good for about 2 months and about exactly what the Sox thought they were getting. $20 mill is a lot but I like that the Sox are trying to lock him up long term. you are right, those are the little bumps that the season gives a club. it can't be avoided.... but some of those ACE's, according to the org mindset, are expected to overcome those bumps, esp if they are getting paid or expect to get paid elite pitchers salary. sorry for playing devil's advocate. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 06:55 PM) Except I'm not sure they were prepared to make a qualifying offer to him from a financial perspective...and assume the risk he actually decided to return on a one-year deal. He's probably rebuilt his value to the point where he wouldn't consider a three year deal the better option, though, and has got another two mph on his fb recently. Iwakuma's the one I would go after though, if they can't re-sign Shark. He's missed too many starts this year to rebound to full value. that is a great point..... how many players will get that QO ?? the sox can really replenish the missing pieces via this rt and in the mean time let the org continue to rebuild. but the need of what will be available will be the catching position. that hole may need to be address somehow.

QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 01:55 PM) Why are we thinking this is a fluke? He's obviously somewhat prospective at least ref cooper-cl, he is driving me crazy. i see the success he is having, then i reread his pitching type of skill. ex: fs, curce, slider etc.... and i come away asking, how is he doing this. next i like to see how he would do in the majors.... i am lost. but for now, i am extremely happy he is helping the team to win.

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) Saw Kingsmen last night. Pretty fun but you could tell that it was low-budget. I enjoyed the dark comedy/violence but my wife wasn't that interested. I'd say it's a solid rental - 3.5 stars out of 5. i totally agree. i thought is a real good tongue in cheek comedy. 3.5+ is about right with 1 side note. a real enjoyable movie to watch over again.

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 11:30 PM) Anderson 39th SB, and 20th error. not bad, not bad at all. what is surprises me is his 39 sb's. while at the same time with a batting avg of 300.

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:51 PM) It's really that simple. The White Sox had one tradeable piece. If they didn't get the right offer for Shark, than I'm glad they didn't move him. it really isn't that easy of a answer. but no matter what, no one is going to say that the offer on the table was not more values than a drafted player who may not even see the majors, if that person make it, some 3-4+ yrs from now. remember that 3-yr plan???

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:28 PM) Sadly, this is what a half a century's worth of ineptitude can do to a fan base. "Be happy" for a "79-83" record because you got to see "some OK players take the field for the Sox"? I mean, really? You are perfectly fine settling for that because, why? We can tell a Cubs fan we've been to the World Series more recently than their team has? Really? Do Cardinals or Yankees or Giants or Red Sox fans have this kind of mindset and set the bar this low? Holy moly - Sox management must love you. "Accept our mediocrity, don't be mad at our routine meager results, and oh, by the way, while yer at it, come to our park, buy our tickets, purchase our parking, food and merchandise, and watch us on TV. And oh, how do ya like our OK players? Don't they look great in the '83 unis?" Lol - GMAFB!! excellent.

re Adams. most knows i am a fan, i like his development this yr. he is growing quite nicely and of course, he may hit some bumps. i would like to see him finished at his level and get some rest. however, i am only a fan. the sox has a great group of coaches and knows a whole hell more than any of us. but i like Adams future.

White Sox Prospects of the Month - July 2015
LDF replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
i like the list and i was really impress. i never thought that there was a nice group of nice looking prospects. i was mildly surprise that there was a couple, at least for me, that they are missing, in my opinion, several more that i am impress with. hitters - Jacob May, Tim Anderson. pitcher - Jordan Guerrero, Thad Lowry. now the reason, Anderson is putting up similar numbers he has since last yr, an avg of over 300. i believe this is an honorable mention. the pitchers are steay, but i will admit, the rookie league is outstanding with individual great performances. either way, you guys did a great job. -
QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:48 AM) at least Tank can hit home runs... Avi is better on defense but offers zero punch at the plate. well with another 0 fer tonite, maybe he will be willing to take over as DH.
-
QUOTE (ventura_abreu @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 01:58 AM) One thing about Tank is that he never bought into trying to make the adjustments that the White Sox wanted him to make. Maybe he will be more amenable to making those adjustments now that he has a second chance. not making the majors again, i think he would be amendable for any new changes.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 01:17 AM) quote name='LDF' date='Aug 1, 2015 -> 11:13 AM' I don't buy into the three year window bulls*** as its just another play on words term used by the FO for the fans. But that's just my opinion. Perhaps someone can clarify that "three year" statement for me. Have the Sox ever said EXACTLY what they are talking about when they refer to a "three year" plan / window? Three years to accomplish exactly what? * Win the World Series? * Play in a World Series? * Make the playoffs? * Have a "winning" season * Three year's until they have to trade Sale because he's about to become a free agent? What are we talking about here? Have the Sox ever said? Not to my knowledge but I may have miseed something along those lines. Thanks, Mark excellent post. define the 3yr plan to accomplish what?? simple
