QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 04:42 PM) 2 things. #1 he is above league average, and #2 his range factor is going up, not down. What you make of the numbers totally depends on how much value you put into fielding stats. either way..... many thanks in explaining this to me.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 03:31 PM) If you buy into Range Factor per game. League average this year is 4.21 and 3.98 the year prior at SS. 2012 4.18 2013 4.23 2014 4.31 2015 4.64 forgive me on these stats you posted, by is it good or bad???

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 04:25 PM) "Right there" is being generous. I've done the walk back to the Roosevelt CTA countless times and every time I'm amazed by how long it takes. Public transportation is there but it sure isn't "convenient". in truth, i will give credit to those who use the public transportation. i have us my or my friends car. but dang, when i was young, we crave that there was other places to continue the night. and i think that is what make the northside a place where many like, but i will stay this, the south side fans really like or enjoy the game.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 04:14 PM) He got off to an awful start. At one point he had a -1.5 dWAR. He is back to 0.0 now as we speak. i take it as his range, while it is not as it was before, and since his offense took a hit, he is look at different. that is why i still am on the high point of alexei still is a valid ss.

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 04:09 PM) I can read. That's how I know your full of s***. Not one single article mentions the white sox group wanting to buy the coyotes. It was always " group headed by jerry". I'm not changing the subject. Your brain droppings did. I'm just correcting your silly ass you are funny, you are again not reading what i am say.... read the sentence. that group headed by jr can also include some present sox investors. if you continue is this weak attempt to be right, i am outta here.

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 03:53 PM) If one seriously thinks that the far west side was ever a choice, they need a diaper and a bib. you are the one crapping yourself.
-
QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 03:54 PM) Then you are either wrong or lying. The white sox were not looking to buy the coyotes. you are trying to key on 1 point to change the subject. as i said, i use the name as "sox group" b/c jr and associates made a bid. it was not just jr. second, i key the sox group as a way to genetically group an unknown, full name of the investors, which i already stated, this being the 2nd time. lastly do you work for the sox??? are you part of the owners to know exactly what is rumors or not???

SoxNet: What can the White Sox get for Jeff Samardzija?

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 03:28 PM) 1. Dodgers -- he suggests Alex Guerrero, which suggests he doesn't know about Guerrero's opt out that essentially makes him a rental for us and therefore a bad option. More evidence that Rogers knows less about baseball players than our message board posters do. Schebler or Barnes make a ton of sense, though. Especially Barnes. 2. Giants -- Christian Arroyo is probably a really realistic return, actually. 2013 first rounder who usually appears toward the back of the top ten Giants prospects but has had some helium this year. Might be a SS, might be a 2B 3. Blue Jays -- While I agree that the Sox should prefer positional prospects to pitching prospects at this point, I think it's a little ridiculous to suggest that there won't be a fit simply because that Sox won't want any pitching prospects. If the Jay offer the highest grade talent, they should get something done. 4. Yankees -- I didn't get to see Jagielo myself (he was here the year before I started working for Staten Island), but while he seems like the perfect fit for us on paper, the up and down nature of his value has me worried that he's another guy who is notable mostly jsut because he's a Yankees prospect. I've read a lot of mixed stuff on him. 5. Astros -- Tony Kemp would be a great get in terms of value. I actually think it's probably a little rich. Stassi would be good for us too, but I'm pretty sure the Astros see him as their catcher going forward. Colin Moran is extremely polarizing, with enough people thinking he's absolute garbage that I'd be wary of him as a centerpiece. Domingo Santana is a good prospect and probably a realistic centerpiece even if I hope we can do just a touch better. for me, this is just my wish, hope and opinion. i think hou and la dodgers offers the most in a wide range of talent for any pkg of netting a nice rtn. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 03:45 PM) Well the Bears play at perhaps the most inconvient stadium in the US. i agree,.... i hate going there for the games and parking....

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 03:36 PM) there was no "sox group". It was jerry and local investors. And the coyotes were in bankruptcy, and eventually bought by the league. It was a quagmire for any group to come in i try to keep that as a group... hence the sox group. some posters, who trying to make a point in any discussion wants to be so precised in any discussion.

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 02:07 PM) Harold Washington made a deal with Jim Thompson in 1987 that if the state were to finance a stadium, it HAD TO BE at 35th and shields. Jerry couldn't go anywhere but Florida at that point. And the south loop is not as attractive as you think. A site at Clark and Roosevelt would be 2 blocks from the red line(and the orange line was still years away), no access for the green line, and 5 blocks from the Dan Ryan. And traffic on that stretch of Roosevelt is murder at 8pm in November, never mind after getting 12,000 cars in the area. Oh, and that target that people keep talking about wasn't built until 2004. There was zero development on Roosevelt between state and canal for almost 20 years after the sox stopped looking at the south loop. And of course, the bears wanted NOTHING to do with the sox in the south loop, near west side, or at 35th and shields. there was, i believe a 3rd site..... between central and laramine south of 290 the old sunbeam and factory there. that was discussed..... that was still in the chi geographical area and washington and the gov ok'd it, but the sox threaten to move to fla. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/commentary/...e=munson/100506

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 02:00 PM) Jerry didn't screw up with the nhl. He opted to NOT BUY THE COYOTES. He was one of many prospective buyers that looked at the financials and said "no thanks". And seeing how messed up it ended up(the coyotes are being evicted), he made the right call. he low balled the final offer and demanded or requested some really creative financing, when, who ever was neg for the team said no, then and only then did the sox group said no thanks. one of the clause the sox owners wanted was the ability to move the team. he was the financing done by the city and them move them to another city??? the city / st would incur most of the cost while the sox group would pay 70-80 mil.... fyi the final of the nhl in phx was 225 mil..... a far cry from what the sox wanted to pay.

QUOTE (Special K @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 04:40 AM) No this is speculation. There are no rumors. In fact, it's been extremely quiet so far. Doesn't anyone else agree? Deadline is not too far away and there have not been many whispers. We've went on for 65 pages in the Shark thread and we haven't really seen one rumor about a possible deal or significant interest from another team, have we? Kind of frustrating. yeah that is unnerving.... i would have expected to see at least 1 major move. if these teams really needed a sp, i would have imagine a team to make that move now.... oh well.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 02:03 PM) Especially considering JR made his money in Real Estate, although I think the reality of it was his hands were tied. If he wanted the state to build him a stadium, he was going to have to make a lot of concessions. Closer to downtown, you wouldn't need all the parking lots. People could have taken trains. But that was almost 30 years ago, and the South Loop was pretty much a dump back then. JR made out fine with his lease, and the team stayed. I live in the city and take the Red Line to games, so it's current location is fine for me, and there is a point that it is more accessible than Wrigley Field, Soldier Field, the United Center, for many. As for the neighborhood, it is what it is. The White Sox can't make it a party area, and the residents understandably don't want it to become one. many thanks... furthermore, and i am basing this on his dealings with the nhl on the Phx team, the owners wanted the state to build it.... to front the money and the sox to recoup the profits. his objection on the the org plans on the train station area was the best. instead he wanted the Addison sub. as i said, the best area was taken off the plate. they, the owners, just overestimated or over played his hand. now where the park is, the residents will not or does not want the night life. where the park is, it has no appeal what so ever. no reason to really make it an event to attend a game. it is a sad comment. being a season ticket holder for close to 10, it was a problem to get motivated to attend a game and then drive back into the sub..... maybe the fans want to make it a event.... an enjoyable night of doing an assortment of things. if anyone wants to know how the sox owners screwed up with the nhl, google it and see how much he screwed up.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 08:45 PM) Lexi is so bad and Saladino so hot it's a no brainer. Trade Lexi now for whatever you can get for him and insert Tyler at ss. Isn't Anderson coming soon? Tyler can hold the fort til then. fantasy time. trade lexi and if needed, if the other team doesn't resign him, resign him via fa rt.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 08:18 PM) According to this article, it was going to cost $180 million to build a 50,000 stadium at that site. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1986-12...tadium-proposal nice fine. sheesh the sox owners have screwed up b/c of their attempt to look for the better deal

QUOTE (WBWSF @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 07:59 PM) Keep in mind this offer by the City of Chicago in the South Loop was made in the late 1980's. From what I know the White Sox refused the South Loop offer and the City of Chicago went in another direction. To the best of my knowledge there's a Target store there now with other retail. It was a much more desirable location for a stadium then where the Cell is now. Ironically former White Sox owner Art Allyn wanted to build a stadium for the White Sox at that South Loop location with PRIVATE funds in 1967. Mayor Daley wouldn't give Allyn the permits to build the stadium. After Daley wouldn't allow him to build the stadium that's when Allyn tinkered with moving the team to Milwaukee. Bruce Levine had a column on this subject last year. with today economy, i will ever doubt that will come to be. that sucks b/c the attendance will be a problem at their present location unless they become a continue attendee in the world series game or even the playoff.

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 07:52 PM) And it was voted down by residents. Tampa can't draw even when they go to the World Series. And they have the same arguments sox fans have for the cell: Too far Too much traffic Bad neighborhood Nothing to do nearby Boring stadium Can't take the kids on weekdays i believe this was discussed before, so why did you chose to demean yourself for simply to take the time to answer. however, you really take time to show your intelligent when it really was never question. however if it is your intention to show how compose you can be, when you need to educate the natives. i guess i should be so honored.

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 07:56 PM) Do you have a spare billon dollars to fix that? By my condo, there is is a rough intersection thanks to railroad viaducts built in the early 1900's. My alderman said the cost to modernize this one intersection( remove some of the beams and help motorists get by with less accidents) would Cost the city 300 million dollars. Needless to say , that intersection remains the same. Do you honestly think the city and state have the money to move railroad tracks ( several lanes worth) and build a tunnel at 16th and Clark for a baseball stadium? And one that won't have nearly as many parking spots as the cell? i never knew this topic took a sudden turn that the relocation of sox park is on the agenda again. i find this sudden comment of your mere attempt to amuse yourself, but to come across so superior and intelligent with you witty banter. as for my humble defense, i was just attempting to fill in the blanks if needed by some who may not have known of the whole situation, maybe b/c of age.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 08:42 PM) Any "B" prospect in high A ball or higher is better than the comp pick. It's a low bar to clear. If they can't at least get that for him than they f***ed up. i know this is me, but when KW is involve, i wouldn't put it past him. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 07:37 PM) Cespedes has often been compared to Puig, Kemp and Hanley Ramirez in the "guaranteed to screw up team chemistry" department. Maybe because no stories have come out of DET this year compared to Boston last season (and All-Star numbers) he's suddenly more viable again, but you can practically guarantee if Cespedes isnt't playing everyday with a FA contract nearing that he'd become a major headache. Another player the White Sox or Tigers would desire from LA is Hector Olivera for 3b...if they were willing to part with him. On the injured list right now for OKC. i have been curious about that since last yr rpt of it. too bad. there is not language in making a contract on Fa's, like a series of 1 yr contract with club options each yr.
