  1. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 27, 2015 -> 11:01 AM) Kiley McDaniel has his July 2 board up now http://www.fangraphs.com/scoutboard.aspx?d...e=0&pos=all Has Sox tied to Franklin Reyes at projected $1.5m and Fernando Tatis Jr. at $600k. using the same chart, it has the sox tied to 2 players only..... while others are more.
  2. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 27, 2015 -> 07:33 AM) I still like Uribe. He's always on winning teams. I remember Steve Rosenbloom saying Kenny couldn't acquire enough ex Royals and ex Indians which were losing organizations. They need to get scouts and instructors from the Cards. excellent, thought process. i agree, they needed to increase their scouting dept, esp if they will not relieve certain current management personnel. i would also add some of the scout from the Oak org. with a limited budget, they always seemed to identified key moves each season. yup, scouts from the cards and oak.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 27, 2015 -> 06:47 AM) “We’ve faltered, that’s obvious,” Williams said. “And we’ve got our shortcomings. But it’s not with the coaching staff. “If they are underperforming to this degree as a whole, then I would have to say right now, and I’ve told the Chairman this, no, at the end of the day, it falls on my desk. I hired the manager. I hired the general manager." i am a little confuse here. i know he is talking as the president of this org, that i obvious. but in the bold. is he kinda of blaming the management??? if not, then why didn't he include the players in that triumvirate state of the rebuilding. better yet, this was the 3 headed monster of what the sox had this offseason. GM-Hahn, Manager-RV and newly signed fa's. a little explanation is needed, thanks.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) He only delivered those presents for years thanks to steroids too.... most excellent.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 10:01 PM) Worth noting that this is entirely dominated by 1 game and he's had a whole bunch of 0-hit games surrounding it. kill joy.... you prob enjoy telling little kids there is no santa.
  6. and Melky in the last 2 weeks is hitting 320+. Adam L - 310+ last 7 days Avi - forget it. Conor - 250 last 7 days Sanchez - 250 last 7 days. well at least this is a little improvement.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 08:59 PM) That is exactly what it looks like to me. Something is bothering him on the field. The last time we saw this was with his father in law. that is what i think, something happening on the family side.
  8. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 03:22 PM) Not until he is in MLB. but wasn't that what you guys were talking about, bringing Fulmer up this yr or something like that?? re the clock.... when Sale got hurts and the rest of the pitchers were not doing so great. i thought they anguish about bringing up Rodon b/c they still had hope for the playoff.
  9. if the rumor was true and Stl had some interest.... i would not play hard ball on asking for alot. if they wasn A. LaRoche and his contract, that will be great. i would even add sanchez in any deal. all i want in rtn is one of the following and comp money, Mike Mayers, Valera, Herrera. but that is me.
  10. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 01:54 AM) I can't see him being called up this year under any circumstance. but his clock will start. the sox had no choice with Rodon.
  11. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 02:54 PM) Next time you say "hmm I don't think they'll get much in return for Sharp," consider that Buffalo just traded the 21st overall pick for David Legwand and Robin Lehner. Lehner never developed into a good player and Legwand is a dinosaur. Buffalo needs every pick they can for their rebuild. Ugh. We are all so lucky to be fans of the Hawks and to have a FO with a clue. yeah, if only the sox management or ownership can develop one.
  12. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 01:35 PM) Pretty obvious I meant Sharp since I said I hope Bickell is gone long before him. He wasn't great this past season, but he was injured alot, played on the third line mostly, had his worst shooting percentage in his career, and still put up 40+ points. i try not to assume anything, i keep getting in trouble. re sharp. i can see the hawks feeling the need to get rid of him and his contract, esp if he may be on the downside of his career. but if not, i can live with him on the hawks. but for cap flexibility yeah, sharp and bickell both needs to be gone.
  13. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 01:07 PM) Well, two things: A.) There isn't a general manager today or in the history of the game who would agree with your assertion that Hahn is not to blame for ANY of this. As GM, he is responsible for assembling the talent to fill out the roster, and he therefore shares in any praise should the team achieve success, or blame, if the team does not. This team that Hahn has assembled for 2015 is practically the worst team in the American League, and so to absolve him from any blame or accountability is simply ludicrous. And B.) This season is heading towards Hahn's second last place finish in his three years at the helm. Granted, three years isn't a terribly long time, but if the "best of his abilities" doesn't start turning things around sooner rather than later, then it'll be time to turn to someone with better abilities. excellent post. in some of it i do not necessary agree. \ when Hahn took over, this system had a void of anything coming out of the minor league. there was no help what so ever. so Hahn had to deal with that and rebuilding. now the players assembled, i just don't know if it the mixture of the players or the coaches that is causing the sox to suck. that will be on those who are 100% better in analyzing this than i. and in this season, on top of the parent team doing good, look at some of the other prospects, outside the top 10 in the system, how are they doing. it is the whole org that i am looking at.
  14. i missed the whole thing yesterday, esp the draft. i am really surprised, i was expecting to see a lot of movement in trades and all. esp out west with the lakers.
  15. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 02:11 PM) I hope Bickell + are long gone before Sharp. He's going to be missed alot more than people think. Plus, I still would like to see the Hawks have insane depth at forward once again. re bold, i am not sure who you are referring Sharp or Bickell. if it is Bickell, yeah i think this board, esp me will miss a player who is making 4 mil a yr and who talked about a 4 hit a game..... yeah, right. if it Sharp, i agree, he will be missed, i like what he brings to the game and he is a threat. granted, last season wasn't a good yr for him, but he is still a threat. the opposing team will need to keep that in the back of their mind when facing the hawks. those are the little things that a players bring to the game.
  16. dang, i missed the game. i read the recap.... a nice win. i see the #2 hole as being a black hole but many players seems to be turning it around. i don't know, with how melky doing, in last 2 weeks, he is hitting over 320 in his avg. i don't know, time to move him to the #2 or 4 hole?? excellent hit for Carlos Sanchez as well
  17. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 09:32 PM) I don't see Johnson's speed translating to the majors either. his speed is not a factor and i would imagine that is why it is not being discussed. the 2 main skills that is a under discussion is his defense and offense. that is my thoughts.

    2015 Films thread

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) John Wick - 2.5 out of 5 stars. Premise was thin, action was no better than any other lone killer film. Enjoyed the scenes but they weren't in-depth enough to keep me interested. The Equalizer was a better film. the equalizer was a very good movie, i agree. another thing i wish for is a good mystery movie.
  19. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 05:56 PM) Eh... I wonder what will be running through Kevin Hayes mind. money does things.... i wonder and hope this will eat his heart out.
  20. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) Bryant is the only big piece of the major league team this year that the Cubs got through the draft and he was a no-brainer. Pretty much all their good players have come through free agency and trades. They're not necessarily a good model for the draft, their scouting is good because they've hit on almost all of their trades over the past few years. you do have a point, at first glance, when you see the ratings and the farm, you come away impress. however if you analyze it, you come to see the real truth.

    6/24 Games

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 12:29 PM) You are missing a lot. And you'll be hearing more about it soon on FS. For now... when he was released from W-S a little over a year ago, he went to Indy ball, changed some pitch grips and added a cutter. Came back and had better stuff. Then the Sox tweaked his delivery too, and in the Mexican winter league all of a sudden his FB was hitting mid-90s, touching 96 as a high. The Sox wanted him to get reps but didn't have room in AAA so they loaned him to a Mexican League team for a while this year, now he's back. Current stuff includes a usually-low-90s sinking fastball, effective cutter, a couple breaking pitches I don't know a ton about, and overall strong command. I'd put him in the T30 now. yah, he came, at least for me, at of no where to become a viable option. i really like to see him build some success this season and see what is left to do to make the big league. another arm.... great
  22. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 02:07 AM) People seem to be judging his defense off an incredibly small sample of plays and assuming none of his f***-ups were due to rookie jitters. I also don't see why his defense would develop any differently in AAA vs. the majors. However, his bat could use some work against major league pitching. When we go back to Micah (and we will), we'll probably have to endure some offensive growing pains and unfortunately for us this adjustment period will now likely spill over into 2016. We should be taking advantage of this wasted season. you have a point, but no offense, i do not agree. there is nothing wrong with his projected offense. it is his defense. he will need to learn that. re maybe moving him to DH.... i always thought after Adam LaRoche contract ends, move Avi there.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 01:53 AM) If Micah can't improve on his defense then he does not have a chance of being a long term solution at the position. Where would he be better able to work on his defense, around the clown show in Chicago or with the player development people in the minors? good point. i agree.
  24. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 01:16 AM) Will be interesting to see how the Cubs and Astros draft when they are no longer picking inside the top 10. Then we will see just how good their scouting is. The organization that impressed me most is the Cardinals. They have not picked higher than 19th over all since 2008 when they picked 13th and yet here they are still developing major league talent year after year. Stl, you are spot on that point, Stl has had a really nice system and seeing where they made the picks, you have to give them credit.
  25. SFO is looking for a possible outfielder per mlb rumors. i wonder is they would want Melky??? maybe the sox can add Davidson to sweeten the deal??? green
