  1. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) I doubt there's a team willing to take that kind of hit to their farm. If Sale was to be traded, it would likely be a three team deal. I understand the premise behind the idea of trading Sale, just do not see it happening. JR is 79 and wants to see another winner so I'd guess the rebuild on the fly theme stays par for the course. I suppose if I were in his shoes I'd feel the same way. If I were a 79 year old baseball team owner I probably would not have much interest in taking the time necessary to rebuild the farm, right. As a fan, I would rather make some trades and get some hitting talent into the system but as long as the Sox keep what few assets they have, it will be the same as it ever was. nice post. btw i am not advocating on trading Sale. but a team who can win the series or have the opinion on their chances in winning the series, will sacrifice to get that extra little something special. in this case it is Sale. a team can rebuild the farm if they traded many key pieces to win.
  2. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 05:22 AM) It was me. I voted for Al Lopez. Do I honestly think he was better than Jackson or Quenneville? No, but he needed some love. The guy was one heck of a manager and did get the Sox to the World Series when the Yankees were SO dominant. Poor Lopez's teams finished second to the Yankees numerous times, but he did wonders with much less than Casey Stengel had to work with. coaches like Lopez, who coached and found success on shear will alone are great one. it is these kind of coaches that goes unnoticed. that was a great name to come up with in this discussion. however in history, people will remember the coaches who won all the championships. so with that, how many did Phil won as a bulls coach? followed by how many Q won as a blackhawks coach?
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 01:59 AM) Hawks don't get out of the first round without Darling. He was magnificent against Nashville. Hawks need to do everything in their power to get rid of Bickell. And I'd rather see Versteeg dealt next over Sharp. and you got a excellent point, the hawks don't win the cup without Crawford. bottom line the hawks needs to keep their goalies.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 03:17 AM) Why would MLB care? Vegas is still an option. What about Memphis or New Orleans. Or somewhere in Canada? Or even Mexico? That's what I was thinking. I think the Sox very easily could move when Jerry dies. It would be sad, though, to only have the Cubs. But if the Sox continue to suck as long as it appears they are going to suck, this team will have trouble drawing 15,000 a game. If this is another 99 loss season, it's really going to be dismal next year. One more 99 loss season after this one might spell crowds like the early 70s again. 2-3,000 a night. It gets that bad and you can bet they'll move when Jerry dies. and it could happen, then the owners will again jump on the fans for not supporting the team.
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 05:42 AM) Jeremy Haber. He was formerly known as assistant to the General Manager and was promoted to Assistant GM. Buddy Bell is also an assistant GM (though a VP as well). Haber has been praised for handling the Todd Steverson hiring process and working hand in hand with Dan Fabian. thanks, that is the one, i am glad someone found it or remember it. i thought i might be going crazy.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 12:29 AM) RICK HAHN'S CELLPHONE Incoming call from Theo Epstein Theo: "Hey Rick, so, we want to talk Chris Sale. How's Almora and Vogelbach sound?" Hahn: "Theo, Almora and Russell could maybe get you Jose Quintana if I'm in a good mood." Theo: "Alright, what if I give you Vogelbach and Baez for Quintana? Kind of the same thing!" Hangs up You have one unopened voicemail "Hey Rick, must have lost you. This Windy City weather can be nuts, right? Ok. So what if I give you Almora, Russell, Vogelbach and Baez for Sale and Quintana?" You have two unopened voicemails "Hey Rick. Me again. What if I give you Edwards, Baez and Russell for Sale?" You have three unopened voicemails "Rick, man, the service where you're at must be terrible. Ok. Russell, Baez, Edwards and Schwarber for Sale? Great deal for you, hell you're winning this deal!" You have four unopened voicemails "Rick, it's me, Kenny. Don't trade with Theo. He keeps calling me pretending to be an insurance company before suddenly wanting to give me a huge SALE at a discounted price of Russell, Baez, Edwards and Schwarber." Rick Hahn listens to all voicemails Calling "Northside Asshat" "Ok Theo, you want to talk Sale, let's talk Sale. Bryant, Russell, Almora, Edwards and Schwarber. I'll even give you John Danks, it's supposed to be easy for pitchers to go AL to NL, right?" "Rick, that's just too much risk. What if Sale gets hurt and I'm stuck with his massive contract?" Hangs up You have one unopened voicemail "Screw you Rick. Jed was ready to give me Rizzo for Archer when he was with the Padres, why can't you be a normal GM and play along?" oh man, that is extremely funny and extremely creative many
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 10:46 PM) There's an old saying that a vote of confidence is the worst thing a manager can get...because that means he needs a vote of confidence. this comment i am about to make is not you, it is me and my little confusion of wanting to hear what i want to. so i am lost, in other words, the FO is disenchanted with him and may move one????
  8. i wouldn't be surprise if Bickell gets buried in the minors or traded. that is a savings of 4 mil right there. second, you need a goalie who can win the big games, Crawford has shown that and carried this team in the playoff this yr. some of the D-man from the 3rd line will get moved somehow. even if their contract is not picked up.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 09:33 PM) Hahn also said that the trade chatter has picked up. good it is about time. did anyone come away from this as RV is, or maybe his position might be getting a little tenuous.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 08:55 PM) The Big Unit Randy Johnson is their photographer. He was in front of me most of the second half of the show, but he ducked the whole time. I kind of felt sorry for him. and with one of my fav pitchers of all times..... you are really killing me.

  13. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:35 PM) encourage Donald Trump to buy the team or maybe Mark Cuban wll be interested why not the writz family???
  14. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:38 PM) If Danks can go six good inning and not give up 15 hits in that time frame we have a chance if danks can go 5 innings and the score really close, relieve him for a rp. do not let the roof cave in before its too late.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:54 PM) That's not what I asked, I asked if the Lakers would be willing to let go of their #2 pick with no guarantee of being able to keep the player more than 2 years. The last time they traded for a guy and just expected to sign him it didn't work. i know this question was for me, but if you don't mind, i would like to add this. i do, esp if they would be approach and it would be a serious thought of butler resigning.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:06 PM) I just saw them at the UC last Friday night...twas fun. They've been my favorite band since I was a teen, and remain my favorite band today. dang... i wish i was in chi. but think about it..... 3 members making all the music. a great guitarist with a unbelievable drummer in neil pert. i know what people say about the drummer from the who, but i think pert is the greatest next to buddy rich. and lets not forget the infectious voice of geddly lee.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 06:32 PM) And I am not sure where they would move that is more profitable anyway. who knows about the bottom line profit, but the shear cost of the team and what the value is expected to be????
  19. QUOTE (venom4789 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 06:34 PM) So just saw the sox are doing a promotion that if you wear a blackhawk jersey you get a ticket for 15 dollars. Do you think the hawks will be coming to the game its about freaking time. wasn't there some mention of this last nite??? by caulfield.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 06:33 PM) The trick would be that the team taking him would have to be willing to accept him on a 2-3 year contract with an opt out that allows him to become unrestricted. Would the Lakers be willing to do that? he wants to go to LA, he got into the movie scene as a visitor and now he is sold on la
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 06:09 PM) What. Trading Jimmy Butler, a young superstar, would be the dumbest thing we could do. Unless of course it gets you Durant or a better superstar. That isn't happening. Jimmy Butler is a player you build your franchise around and while none of us know how good he can get or if this year is a fluke, right now, doing anything that costs us him, would be horrible for the Bulls. We have multiple all stars and to be frank, should be more optimistic about Rose then we ever have been. Rose with a normal off-season should be a better player. This team could even potentially land a Marc Gasol / Aldridge / Klove if things went perfect. Not saying it would happen but blowing up is just a downright silly idea. no offense but imo, you are seeing Rose, thru rose color glasses.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 06:15 PM) With the way Thibs abused Butler, trading him might not be the most awful idea. We all know the Bulls aren't winning anything as currently constructed anyway. A sign and trade deal involving the #2 pick could be a starter. in and with LA, you are spot on. their #2 in the draft and their second round.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 06:07 PM) Why does this team need to rebuild. It was the 2nd best team in the East (Atlanta is not better) and they were some role players stepping up from being a title team despite missing Pau. Yes, Cleveland also had injuries but Bulls didn't have much time to gel. They had Noah on one leg, etc. This team can win. Watching Golden State in the process further cemented that fact pattern as well (cause they weren't that impressive). don't get me wrong, i guess i never explained my point, Rose and now is Bulter wants to go, then find. the bull can keep the majority of the team and still be really great next yr. i am surprise at Butler's comment or assumption of his contract. but what the hay, if he want to hang out in LA.... then trade him now and get some real value. esp when the bulls can be in the driver seat. i want to bulls to be fully focus on winning next yr, instead of the petty BS around them and happening in the front office. re: Rose. lets cut the looses and get out from his salary even if the bulls need to eat a huge contract for a yr.
  24. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:12 PM) I don't care about any meta analysis of a the arguments on a fan message board ("gone full circle") but the bolded part is 100% true. What's the evidence? It's on the surface -- check the record in the last 7 years -- they've sucked. When you suck for 7 years straight you usually get fired, of course this is a JR run show. nice..... but it has to be said and it has a bases for this is a process of going around in circles. that in itself is the strange inconsistency of fans voicing their frustration. this is was the msg board is used sometimes to vent. that is way, everyone is right and no one is wrong.
  25. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:18 PM) People don't buy sports teams to make money.
