  1. Well draft day for mlb is june 10. my little notebook, part 1 for this yrs draft. there are mock draft that help me come up and keep track of my favorite thing in sports, keep an eye on prospects of the future. I usually keep a list of assorted players and see how it is compared to the draft by the pro's. This yr, it was a rough yr, because there weren't many favorites and of those left, many got injured. While others didn't do as well as many have thought. Rodgers – ss, is by far the hands down best in this draft, imo. The next group is Swanson – ss and Tate - P. Now comes the rest and how other percieved then. So I am going to list them by positions. Cat - Tyler Stephenson, Chris Bettis those are the favorites and are preps. Mi – Bergman, R. Martin, and K. Newman. D. Thompson . outside Rodgers and Swanson, there are some interesting names. Of - Happ, DJ Stewart, Cameron, Tucker, Whitley. is is a group that i like and there might be a few new surprises that are peaking. Pitchers – forget about it. Too many to list. too all over the place. the prep pitchers may surprise me in the final day. how are teams seeing the pitching this yr, i wish i knew. so it appears that as of today, the strategy that i wanted to use last yr, may come into play this yr. over slot agreements with players before the draft. i am still standing my ground, this will be the last yr, for a long time, the sox pick this high.
  2. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 7, 2015 -> 11:06 PM) The only chance the Sox have of playing decent ball this summer is if guys like Eaton and Alexei get it going. Just have to ride it out. bingo.
  3. QUOTE (Condor13 @ May 7, 2015 -> 10:46 PM) Have Micah leadoff and Eaton hit second. Thoughts? the last time i was ranting on that, micah did lead off and well it wasn't pretty. i learn not to make a lineup suggestions of specif players. i bring bad luck.
  4. QUOTE (hi8is @ May 7, 2015 -> 10:35 PM) Yup - confirmed. Was at the office watching alone today will my boy was at home with mommie. The rest is a history we all know and hate. i like it. so your son is the lucky rabbit foot. most excellent .
  5. QUOTE (SCCWS @ May 7, 2015 -> 10:16 PM) Vegas predicted 81.5 for maximum wins. That would be around a .500 record whcih to me is pretty realistic. interesting point you bring up. lets see. there are a 162 games in a season, the played including this game 26 games, that will leave 136 games, lets assume 50% wins should be a nice number, that is 68 wins, 68 plus 10 win already that should leave a record of 78. wins in a worst case scenario for the season. its a far cry from what i was predicting but i will let you decide.
  6. QUOTE (Condor13 @ May 7, 2015 -> 09:59 PM) I have always hated the lefty righty lineup bc it is only useful if you have good hitters in your lineup. The Sox have some of the worst hitters in baseball right now so it just puts us at a disadvantage before the game even begins well for me, the sox won 2 in a row. baby steps in fixing the house.
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 7, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) Micah I assume will be hitting 1 or 2. you got my head spinning, this game was being blamed on RV, so why should you start a thread on Eaton starting tomorrow, if it was RV fault.
  8. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 7, 2015 -> 06:50 PM) http://www.d1baseball.com/features/golden-...ight-tyler-jay/ Here's a pretty good article on Jay. it is a good article and to me, a fluff piece expounding of the success of Jay. like it said "now he’s got a big league fastball with three effective secondary offerings, any of which he feels comfortable throwing in any situation" effective is the word i am looking at, we are not pro scout, the article was a fluff piece, lets the pro's look at hm and decide. if he is drafted as a sp, i hope they are right, if he is drafted for a closer, a waste of a pick.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 7, 2015 -> 06:14 PM) His secondary pitches are plus. He should be in Illinois' rotation but their rotation is stacked as it is. at the time, the articles didn't say anything else. were they 3 plus at the beginning? also if the rotation is so stacked, then why are they ranked #11 as of yesterday div 1 standings. the team will always use the #1 pitcher as a starter.
  10. QUOTE (Wanne @ May 7, 2015 -> 09:39 PM) The Illini have an absolute ridiculous pitching staff. Any guesses where Tyler Jay gets drafted?.... it was discussed, according to K-Law, there were whispers of the sox looking at him at 8. for me, i don't know or see it....
  11. QUOTE (Condor13 @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:54 PM) Micah needs to hit in the 2 hole and move everyone else down a spot. I think this will help the Sox some bc if Micah get on at least Eaton won't be able to f*** it up some how. Plus Micah can bunt better then Melky can and will just shake thing up. Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. i would really shake up the lineup and screw this lh rh hitting, until they start to hit regularly.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:46 PM) The way they did it, they only miss one start between the two. The day Samardjiza is back, he will pitch in the slot that Sale would have. Then Sale will be ready to go the next day. that would be nice if this team had 4 or even 5 sp. but the way this team has been playing, i would have thought to get the team momentum going would be the priority.
  13. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:44 PM) Offenses struggle. That's baseball. That's why the best hitters in the game struggle to get hits even 1 out of 3 times. What the f*** is Ventura doing managing this team, though? That's what I can't figure out. i understand yours and many dislikes for RV, but how can you really associate these 2 thoughts into one??
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:43 PM) Aren't the Sox two men short on the bench right now due to suspensions? that i wonder why they didn't separate the suspensions wider? is there a rule on that? they are going to need some other help in the pen.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:40 PM) Probably saving other guys for this weekend when the bomb squad is pitching. ooch.... that was harsh, but extremely funny.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:19 PM) White Sox: 10-14, 5 1/2 games back in the AL Central Freak-Out Factor: 9, or one for every 0-fer from Adam Eaton this season This club scored two runs or fewer in half of its first 22 games. All three of their supposed lynchpins in the rotation -- Chris Sale, Jeff Samardzija and Jose Quintana -- have turned in at least one certifiable, Grade-A clunker. You and I have gotten on base only slightly less frequently than leadoff man Eaton. And April wasn't even over before manager Robin Ventura received the first public vote of confidence from general manager Rick Hahn, so that news-cycle requirement has already been addressed. The White Sox, basically, have been a mess, and the struggles of the stars only make the holes at catcher, second base, third base and the back-end of the rotation more apparent. At some point, perhaps soon, Carlos Rodon is bound to supplant either John Danks or Hector Noesi in that rotation, but the 22-year-old rookie lefty is probably the only real desperation lever Ventura has to pull here, and obviously Rodon can't spark the lineup. As is the case with the Indians, I'll raise the panic meter here slightly because of the division depth. The other factor that must be considered here is the Trade Deadline and Samardzija's looming free agency, which might impact Hahn's patience level if the Sox are merely hovering midseason and not actually making an earnest rise up the standings. It's a lot to ask of a club to go from 89 losses one year to October the next, and, with their slow start, the Sox have doubled down on the difficulty. http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/12275...95269-658620023 excellent article and right on, re: bold,
  17. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:33 PM) Thank you Adam Eaton for being a no show again today. bingo, how can the pitchers win the game, when the main hitters are not hitting.
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:28 PM) You don't save other arms in a 1 run game i thought it was 2 runs, but hardly anyone is hitting. if the sox comes back, then use another pitcher.
  19. QUOTE (shysocks @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:24 PM) Not sure why Jennings is still in. why use any other arms, let him just pitched and get his innings in. save the other pitchers.
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 7, 2015 -> 05:50 PM) good reading, i guess the majority of it, locks up the whole thing as bull s*** reporting. trying to paint everything into 1 color. i hate to hit and run, but i am thru. if no one can see the problems, then how do they expect it to get fixed.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2015 -> 06:37 PM) http://chicago.suntimes.com/baseball/7/71/...custom-t-shirts crap, i still don't understand it. fvvck it.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:59 PM) also some of the last trains until midnight are 10:30, that used to get me. Making fun of people leaving early is lame. People made time and paid to go to the games, but sometimes you just have to leave. excellent point, those tickets are already paid in full. there must be a reason while they are leaving???
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 7, 2015 -> 06:58 PM) It just shows you today's attention span of people. Only diehard fans will stay after the 3 hour mark. Once it hits 10:15 on a night game, forget it. while you do make a good point, i don't know if that is the answer. we at a game in Hou, it was coming to 9:30, i told him lets go. he was surprise, on the drive, he asked why we left before the end of the game. my answer was, it was getting late. he laugh, we talked about when i was a season ticket holder in chi and the nite games for the sox. the point is, these games, sometime during the weekdays, are late. i am thinking that they need to start them 1/2 hour earlier. the week days, a nite game kills me. but yeah i am old fart. i am thinking, to some, the responsibility of work, come first now. but that does make them any less of a die hard fan.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 7, 2015 -> 06:32 PM) It's actually not a bad comp physically. Clearly he won't be Trout, but they are built very similarly, have similar speed and athleticism despite the muscle mass, and that is an unusual combo. Engel's power ceiling and hit tool aren't nearly Trout-level of course. And I love that Engel is keeping the K's at bay, unlike the rest of the toolsy outfield crowd in the system. I'm guessing Engel will move up the charts quite a bit this year. if he can continue on his offense production this yr, i would gladly eat more crow.....
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2015 -> 06:37 PM) Royce Ring. But if the Sox select Jay in the first round at #8, it means they don't think he will be a RP, and will be a SP. good one. and i agree about what you said. in the beginning of the season, an article mention of Jay being stretch out as a start as a couple of others. however he reverted back to rp. something about this secondary pitches never fully developed to help him as a sp. with that, i am still questioning the idea of it.
