Should The Sox Buy the Old Post Office For A New Stadium?
LDF replied to nitetrain8601's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 07:05 PM) They are getting $50 or so million a year in local tv money. That is currently below the padres and Astros(both who recorded new deals recently). That nber can conservatively rise to $150 million or more if everything works out. They are NOT guaranteed that much in Portland, Vegas, or any other small market. if the deal with the new area will subsidize that. who knows what the money will be like. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 06:52 PM) Then take her to Pinstripes. Bowling, Bocce Ball, Bar, Food http://pinstripes.com/ see if there is a mid sled ride.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 06:52 PM) For someone who's value is heavily dependent on his defense, I don't think he could cover as much range as he could now both in the infield and outfield when he's 38 years old. Not to mention his bat is already slowing down the past 2 years. i am not going to justify getting him. i mention him last wk b/c for short term, 1 yr, he can help produce, to help get to that playoff, while also letting some of the minor players to continue to develop. also, if the price to pay for the trade if it is cost effective. the key word is cost effective, and it is not, anderson, rodon, adams or montas is the key.

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 06:41 PM) Leaving Chicago means they lose at least 100 million a year in tv money. And that number will explode after 2019. another great post, the corp money they will also loose. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 04:58 PM) There weren't cities trying to do so for the last 5 years because the nation's economy nearly collapsed. If the lease comes up in one of the periods in-between major economic collapses where cities are feeling able to spend money, that'd be a different story. 2 excellent posts and thinking outside the box. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 04:50 PM) I don't think there are many, if any, cities that are actively trying to get MLB teams. If there were, Tampa wouldn't still be in Tampa. The only real threat to the Sox leaving Illinois is NW Indiana deciding to build a stadium. that was why when i mention about the possible cities who may be interested in a sports presence by have a sports team last month, i was referring to cities or states. the only site i really see who could foot the bill is Vegas. i still think Chicago can but in the western subs or nw subs. but JR group are smart, really smart business people, he will not want to come up with any front money. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 04:50 PM) 7 more hours of work and then I wont be sober for 3 days straight. Yaaaa buddy. i just want to be the old fart here and say, ~~~~~ BE SAFE !!!!! i expect to see everyone here come the new year.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 04:56 PM) Agreed. lol i think we all can agree that NK is a bunch of people who is not capable of doing this. i am trying not to belittle anyone one group.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 03:50 PM) Lebron James and Kobe Bryant are different people. damn damn damn...... i am getting tooooo freaking old. sorry all. f***.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 04:41 PM) Something like 15 years ago North Korea started contracting out with hackers in other parts of the world, various places in Asia, to develop a cyberattack capacity. it is funny, the NK blackmails the world for money and then uses that money for other things. i believe they may have contracted out, if it was them.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 04:37 PM) I am 100% serious. I worked for an exchange, which by itself, had more internet connections than all of NK. oh i believe you, as a side note, why would you try to embellish that. i just agreed with you, i still think it was a inside job. i was laughing at the cartoon and other captions attached. classic. edit.... damn sorry, i miss the other post of inside job or something.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 03:40 PM) The big thing is that he left the ice on the hit. That is a big no-no. i know what you are saying. but look at it. he hit and then left up and the other skate was on the ice. yes when he hit the board, both skates left the ice. the rule says he cannot leave the ice before and during the hit. edit,... screwed up on the english.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 03:34 PM) I wouldn't believe any rumors about Lebron retiring. I can't even really find anything with a quick google search. I believe that he may not like Blatt, but there's no way he is retiring soon. you couldn't find why or the news of LBJ thinking of retiring. then again i should be carefull, it is really the sportswriter article. here is the link for the retirement. http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasyba...ter-next-season

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 04:33 PM) Which will change a lot in 15 years. Odds aren't very good that the team will get any help from the State of Illinois on a new stadium next time around. If Las Vegas throws a billion dollar package at them, while Illinois offers squat, does it change ownerships minds? It is hard to predict the future. i don't care how loyal any owner is, a huge money offer from some city will be hard to turn down. damn, i think i will quit baseball if i had to cheer on the northsiders. that will be like living in purgatory. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 04:31 PM) We'll find out a lot about how good of a manager Robin is this year. So far he has a 2012 where he kept a clearly inferior team in the race until the last week of the season, in his favor. He also did a good job of keeping a team that had no chance at contending in 2014 playing hard until the last day of the season, even overcoming some pretty big injuries to key players. Ventura has 2013 which was just a disastrous meltdown and the end of 2012 going against him. Guillen has 2005 and what I thought was his best managing job in 2008 going for him. He has the 2007 collapse, along with all of the other self-created external messes that took away from the team, and biggest of all, negotiating a contract with another team while he was still a member of the White Sox. He had clearly lost the team by the end of his time here because he was more worried about himself than the people signing his paycheck. So far Guillen wins on the World Series and Blackout teams, but Ventura hasn't had anywhere near the talent that Ozzie did, until maybe this year. Again, we will learn about how good Robin really is this year. a good post, btw, does anyone knows how hard it is for a coach to keep his team from falling apart, to keep them playing hard when the talent is not there or when the team is out of the race??? -
it was just 1 more lost. it is still good. this Bulls teams is a great team assembled in a long time. BTW, LBJ is now considering retirement. what a push to get his coach fired. question Why???

the penalty on the Panthers Erik Gudbranson, was that really a good call?? btw, i think it was a clean hit. http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey...chael-bournival

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 02:13 PM) Given the current economic climate in baseball, I highly doubt the sox will leave the Chicago market. i agree but will add, in the current economic conditions in the nation, any sports team may not move, unless economical force too. the time of the city, state financing a sport building / venue will be hard to justify. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 01:15 PM) The other part of platoons is unless it is a guy used to platooning, the lack of consistent AB may harm his performance vs. that split. Especially guys that kill lefties, since there aren't that many. i guess in ref to situational hitting, will be dictated with platoon stats. part of that is modern growth with the newest technology. i like Conor, i guess i like the underdog, but i think this new season will really define him in all aspects of the game.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 01:51 PM) I haven't read anything suggesting that a final decision has been made whether or not to retire his number. As of right now, they are simply not issuing the number. I'm fine with them not issuing the number for a few years to give some time to put historical context to his playing/managing career. thanks for simplifying this number thing. i really thought it was decided. as i said, honor what he did, esp as a manager for the world series. do not retire the number.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 24, 2014 -> 03:52 PM) I have worked for companies that have more computers hooked to the internet than all of North Korea does. lol and on a serious note, can anyone pls explain how North Korea can do this, if they are so far behind in the tech.....
