  1. Santana and Jimenez did they cost a draft pick if signed ???
  2. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 10:18 AM) I think the team is going to be sellers at the deadline, I don't have faith in the way the bullpen has been performing and in the depth of the starting rotation. buyer or sellers, it doesn't matter which. you still be a seller and bring in the right prospect (s). however we really don't have the surplus of talent that other teams may want. right now we have all the players moving in the right direction, do we want to really break up that momentum? going into the start we thought the pitching was a good one that Hahn assembled, who would have thought Paulino and Johnson would be hurt/not pitching as predicted? I really don't think we should trade for the sake of trading, play with the team we have, lets build up the fan based again, look at the waiver wire and see what develops.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 08:15 PM) I think the opposite will be true. With as many teams that are "in" it now with the extra playoff spots, the pressure to win is higher than ever. There are fewer sellers to go around than their used to be. This team is very fun to watch. I already want a #1 jersey. And I am good, I really glad to see you back around LDF. It is flashback to the good ol' days! hell yesssss I really am stroke to have Hahn at the helm. the next step is to see how this upcoming draft is going to play out.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 08:07 PM) I think by the time everything equalizes, the Sox are looking at a .500 team. That is what I saw in the off-season, and it still makes sense to me. 500 is not a bad thing, we will be in a good position to continue to build and maybe be active in the FA market next season. lets also think about the state of flux our pitching is in. to org has been ranked dead last, then we moved up some and then even higher last yr. so we were all jazzed about the players we have, but were any pitcher really ranked high beside Johnson? as I have been a proponent of not falling into the spin doctoring of the sox machine, to paint a rosey pict.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 08:04 PM) If a GM needs players for the stretch run, I doubt the are thinking too much about the White Sox rebuilding plans. They are worried about winning their own race. I somewhat agree, but do we have the same value as the other team has ???? do we have to overpay ? hey Southsider ........ how is it going? this team is exciting to watch. I am glad most of the old poster are still here. Peace
  6. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 06:31 PM) I'd trade any of the usual mentioned guys for high end prospects or prospects with high ceiling, with some emphasis on pitching. No mediocre veterans and absolutely no middle relievers need apply. that is if the other team has the same value as we do for our prospects. our infielders, on the team and in the farm is our real wealth. we can trade Gordon, for prospects if he comes around. where are we going to put Davidson if conor keeps on hitting, we need pitching as everyone is mentioning. here is another train of thought, the rest of league now know of Hahn success this past off season, how many will make it harder for future trades?
  7. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 06:20 PM) Why would he have more value to us? Don't all organizations want prospects with great approaches. Just trade him for prospect(s) in areas of need. Certainly don't want to trade him (or anyone else) for middle relievers or mediocre veterans. But we have little top end pitching in the farm; we are flush in other areas. Seems like a good trade scenario. I really don't think that we are all that flush in the outfield as we are lead to believe. I have been thinking, if gillaspie (3b) is for real, where do we put matt Davidson? in the outfield, dh, and where will that leave ravelo? I been wondering if he can turn into a hitter like keppinger was suppose to have been.
  8. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 05:07 PM) Ken names some players who are contributing to the Sox turnaround in 2014. I can see Dunn being dealt as he really doesn't fit in with the Sox rebuilding, but to trade away your starting SS and 2B guys and a starting pitcher, who is showing success after surgery might not be the best moves. I guess that regardless of personal feelings you need to see what the return is and how that benefits the team long term I am going to be honest here, I was for trading Viciedo before the season started. now I would like to hold on to him and see what is going to happen here. I haven't seen this kind of excitement in a long time for the sox. the turn around as some are saying or questioning start with the smart acquisition that Hahn made. so it starts from him and then dribble down to the players. but the main key is Jose. BTW.... I been wondering how was puig acting when he played on the same team with Jose ?
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 05:48 PM) Absolutely, and I know where this is going. You are going to say that bonus money would be gone and there won't be enough for Rodon. But everyone assumes Rodon won't sign unless he eats up 90% of the pool money. The fact is, many posters who had to have the pick still don't want Rodon for fear he will take the bonus money of guys who have a 1 in 20 if not lower chance of making an impact. They even want to go below slot on that pick to offer lower and lesser thought of players even more.No one here knows his demands. I don't think Appel is an example of the route Rodon wants to go. In the long run, if he is anywhere as good as advertised, it will probably cost him money as his development will be behind a year, maybe more. If Appel signed with Pittsburgh he may be in the major leagues right now. Supposedly Appel turned down $6 million from the Astros in 2012, and signed for $6.35 million in 2013. sorry for the late reply ... so the players who succeeded, who are not international drafted, were someone draft pick. any teams draft pick. is it shear dumb luck that they had success and lets say we, the sox org didn't ? is it our scouting philosophy that needed to be change? lets assume, for this discussion, that only 2nd rounder panned out, should we not draft in the 1st round ? we have been getting good results when Hahn took over .... and I will not forget the world series win, but when your team has lousy result from drafting, we needed to change that sooner. Peace
  10. QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 06:59 AM) Seriously? Most supplemental picks don't even make the Majors. with all due respect, I don't buy it. let's called it what it is without soft-soaping with excuses.... it was horrible drafting and scouting if that is where the blame goes. when was the last first rounder amounted to anything between the late 90's - 2009? and where should the blame falls on?
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 09:24 AM) The problem is that they can't see Semien playing SS at the major league level without trading Ramirez. There are a TON of doubts about Marcus' ability to handle the position defensively on an everyday basis. 2B, fine, no problems, 3B, same thing. He's athletic and has a strong enough arm, although not comparable with Alexei's arm strength. I am starting to think because of Ramirez' body type, he can play into his mid 30's without a significant dropoff...and that keeping him together with Abreu and Viciedo is the right play, unless the return is amazing in terms of prospects (like a bonafide potential ace starter, Top 35-75 guy). the main problem I have about deal Alexi is you may be dealing the main anchor of the Cuban glue. I was all for trading Viciedo before his resurgence, now I am liking what I am seeing from him. even enuf to think about dealimg with boras for an extension ..... maybe not a lot of this season excitement has to do wit Jose and what he bring to the club. I can't wait for the weather to start to warm up. Wanne ....... great and funny post.
  12. QUOTE (Cubano @ Apr 26, 2014 -> 02:15 PM) Puig is crazy and Abreu is the total opposite. What a team they had in Cienfuegos with those two and the new Dodgers SS Erisbel Arruebarruena. The Elephants now have another young outfielder who might be MLB talent. They never went to the Cuban finals though. They kind of choke in the Playoffs though Puig was much younger. hey Cubano .... any interesting pitchers we should look out for coming from cuba ?????
  13. QUOTE (OsweGo-Go Sox @ Apr 26, 2014 -> 01:57 PM) Adam Eaton is a f***in' insane weirdo. Sprinting to first after a walk, using "This Is How We Do It" as his walkup... I love it. just like pete rose use to do ..... I believe that is how he got his nickname as Charlie hustle

  15. Good morning all !!! As we come close to the start of another yr of sox baseball, I can't help to get excited about all the new players we have. What I trying to figure out is and I thought will be a good eval of our prospects, after the season starts, some of our top 20 prospects gong with the parent club up north, how does the next group of prospect looks. Which players to start getting excited about, and lastly which players will slide to the new order.... which I am not even adding how the draft will add to that pool. to everybody, have a blessed year !!!
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 06:16 PM) Arrondondo has a spectacular arm. Bummer that he'll need Tommy John and he fell way off the radar for the Angels, but could use a change of scenery once he's healthy again. It would be a very low risk move that could pay off big-time. The guy has plus plus stuff. jose arredondo, imo would be a great gamble (reclammation) looking for 2011. i players i have been looking at seems to be pitchers,. scott olsen (before he signed with the nat), matt capps, even miller.... i just thought of this a an inexpensive way of getting the players who can help without giving up prospects. with ref to position players, is there any out there in the no tendered that tickles anybody fancy?
  17. i understand the economics today and the sox not wanting to throw money out there, which i understand, however there are some interesting names out there that can be added to really strengthen the team. some of these players can be had for minor league contract, spring training invitees or downright reclamation and still help in the long run, esp in possible trade come mid season. last season showed us we need pitching depth that is ready to pitch in the majors.
  18. Hockey player went into cardiac arrest after being checked. this link are comp from hockey future http://www.expressen.tv/Sport/1.1813126/ha...en-mitt-pa-isen this is in swedish

  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 04:21 PM) I love him. Absolutely love him. He's right there with Trout for me in terms of prep OFers. who is his agent?
  21. Damn, i havern't completely rebuild my life since Rita, now i have to redo it again with Ike.
  22. This is and will always be a better site to post and read anything about the sox and the minors.... i have came back once in a while and post, but in reallity i have extremely too busy to keep on posting. with that said, when i did post a few newbies came on me, but the old-timers told them i was an old timer as well. i still read everything i can the soxs and with out this site, i will be lost. it keeps me up to date on everything.... so keep up the good work guys.... with the summer games going on the everything else going on, this is a slow time....
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 12:12 AM) I have an IBM thats got 2 gigs of ram and I think a 1.6 Ghz mobile processor (not exactly sure on that) as Its my work laptop (but it works awesome, good batter life, nice screen). i have a 2 yr sony vaio, but from one who works in the computer field, buy the extended warranty. b/c a monitor replacement is in the neighborhood of 800+ and the motherboard goes in the range of 400+. it doesn't take much for the input plug for the adapter breaks off. ref to antivirus..... go avast or avg b/c they are better than the norton and it is free.
