QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 10:00 AM) Sounds like KW is too scared to lose trades in which he's the seller. since when? i would have sworn that he lost on the freddy for floyd trade.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 06:45 AM) DLS pitched in the Futures Game today. He struck out Jacoby Ellsbury (AAA currently, played a few games in the bigs this year as well) on 3 pitches, then gave up a no doubter to Justin Upton (AA) on a 93 MPH fastball. After that he appeared a little rattled and hit Evan Longoria (AAA). He got Ian Stewart to fly out (AAA), gave up a single to Steven Pearce (AA), and struck out Brent Lillibridge (AAA). His fastball sat in the mid 90s, topping out at 96, and had solid movement. He had a nice slurve (that's what I'm calling it at least), but only threw 2 pitches. He will need a third pitch to be a starter, but that's far from out of the question. He pounded the strike zone, almost throwing too many strikes (a la BMac). I put the level of the guys he faced in parentheses because he looked like he should be pitching to those hitters who are top prospects in AA and AAA while he is still in Low A. There doesn't seem to be any reason to keep him there. Let him go to Winston-Salem and see what happens. dang.... i am impress. those are some very good hitters in the up and coming list.

Javy Vazquez.....now what do we do??
LDF replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 07:49 AM) I truly don't understand this obsession with trading Javy. The guy has finally begun to pitch like the guy everyone thought he was in 01'-03', and NOW we want to deal him? This is the guy we thought he could be when we dealt Chris Young for him, and now we've got him extended at a fairly reasonable price. You don't deal Javy at all in my opinion, but you ABSOLUTELY don't deal him without knowing what Jon wants in terms of an extension. If I'm KW, I am approaching Jon with the same extension offer I just gave Mark. If he wants to stay here, great, sign him up. If he doesn't, I'm looking to deal him as he has some value still with another year on his contract. If we wait until after the season, we are going to be going through this all again next season. I don't see any reason why we cannot maintain a rotation based around Mark/Jon/Javy for the next 4 years. They're all in their prime as pitchers, have all been extraordinarily healthy and durable throughout their careers, and all seem to be very classy, clubhouse-friendly guys. You then slide Danks and one of Floyd/Gio in and I think you've got yourself a pretty solid rotation until 2011. It would cost a bit over $40 million. Obviously, Contreras would have to be dealt under this scenario, and I will miss Jose, but he is the odd man out. If he can be moved for one reasonably decent prospect, and without paying out any of that contract, then he is gone. I doubt there will be teams jumping out of their shoes to try and get Jose, but there will likely be some suitors as the contenders become desperate. the old adage, trade when the market is high, right now the market be at the highest it has every been for javy, taking his past into consideration. as for jose, i am not too sure if the market is going to be there for him. with him, it is go rid ourself of a salary and look at extending someone contract, like jg's contract. -
THIS DATE IN WHITE SOX HISTORY: JULY 8TH/Bo and Kirk
LDF replied to StatManDu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
i the dugout during 1 game, i believe it was durham who was making fun of the way jackson was running.... even bo laugh at that. who ever came up with "THIS DATE IN WHITE SOX HISTORY" was a genius. keep up the good work. -
the thing with me, it was good banter. i enjoys those. it improves my skills in typing, spellin (which i am lousy at) and some of these banter were funny in content.... i never took anyone serious. i respect everyone's opinion, i may not agree with them. but it helps or at that time helped build a site with lively conversation.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 03:18 AM) I've been here over two years, and I don't think I've ever seen a post of yours. Yet, you have over 4,000. What am I missing here? thanks guys and i remember i posted something earlier this month asked where i have been. thing is as a community, we are still rebuilding down here. i live in LA and the hurricane rita of a few yrs ago nearly destroyed us.... working 6 days a week to at the business side of things, and we are about to start hurricanes season again. that is my soap opera.... but every free time i have, i still come to my sites here, sox, hawks and bull talk site. my last major time here was when i got my lunch so what handed to me by rock raines with the vaz and chris young trade, which i never liked. but things happen and i couldn't come back to retort. what i learn is life is good, when you wake up and your family health is there...... everything else comes a distant second. even in my old age i learn new things.
-
yeah i remember the stuffing of the ballot..... that was a beauty.... there are a lot of stories that can be mentioned that a lot of the young posters woul find hard to believe in, like when we shut down the old espn site attack.... who was the lawyer guy that got the thing going with dago beef.... ahhh crap i feel like an old timer reliving stories.
-
if we are going to loose guch, might as well trade him.... i am for trading after guch, jose count, garland, and vaz. they could bring in the best value and maybe the quickest way to rebuild.
-
rogers is reminding me of the report smith who propose all those bulls and basketball trades..... seriously speaking, why would the sCrubs make that trade with us.
-
oh man, this is great reading and many grats to everyone...... this was a learning lesson as it goes so to speak..... the admin have done a great job of finding a happy medium with out being dictator..... the growth of the minor's prospect is what i am happiest about. eveyone help in the growth of this site and i been watching and enjoying the growth.... every yr this site as grown and to one an all.... many thanks

Aaron Cunningham Traded to Zona for IF Danny Richar
LDF replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
i for one do not understand the trade with arz. arz who has of'ers trade for another prospect for the of, unless they are planing a future trade with another team and of'ers are on the table. so my question is why help them and for what, a 24 infielder who may be ready in 2 years. i do not like this deal -
there are 2 thought process in this. players i dislike the sox playing agains, b/c of the way they play agains that person and the players who i hate. i really hate belle when he was with cle and with the sox royce clayton arod bonds and the sCrubs

signing jim was one of the reason why paulie resign, if my memory hasn't failed me.

thanks for your hard work and i appreciate all the info

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 02:22 AM) My buddy made his own and made a decent machine. I guess I could just order all the parts off newegg and build it myself. Just gotta figure out what to order now. build your own and it will be cheaper, if you can get yourself one of these video card http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/12/14/sne...quad_gpu_setup/

Greatest Heavyweight Boxer in their Prime
LDF replied to rangercal's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
oh man, this is going to be a fun thread to watch. i love rocky, joe louis and people can pick sonny. most will say ali is the best. i don't know. you have to consider the old time fighters in the late 1800 like john l sullivan. the rules they fought were very different. can you imagine a 25 rounder with leather gloves not the pillows they used now. no fight call because of blood or injury. tough era to fight in. -
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 08:59 AM) To be honest i started to visit BHZ only a few times a month in the past year because it went to crap. Along with the rest of the mods, i hope to have the site run smoothly. i was sooo sad to see bhz become what they became. in the beginning i help out a lot in behind the scene, with suggestion, ideas and all. then it started to go to crap and stop posting for the last 3 yrs there. i hope we take all the problems there and learn from it. mods who weild too much power can destroy a site, too much fighting as well. we all have opinions and lets be forgiving of those who may not know alot of a certain topic.

btw beside malkin, are there any more prospect re-entering the draft???
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 06:17 AM) Malkin would be an OBVIOUS no-brainier. Whatever happens, while they always say take the best talent available, the Hawks dont need more D. Get some guys to put the puck in the net. well no kidding on the obvious comment. i am not just as sure of drafting kessell, esp if we do pick #2 and malkin re-enter the draft. johnson fall to you and if it was me, i would trade that pick for something that we need. all i am trying to do is get some talk going, get a healthy discussion going.
-
here is a wild card i was waiting to post, but hell with it. because of the new CBA and prospects not signed, the possibility of pitt #1 pick - Malkin may be re-entering the draft. this may change the scenerio of who is drafting who. btw, the hawks may be picking #2 with a very slim possibility of #1.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 05:08 AM) You take Kessel, absolutely no doubt. The Hawks have scored the least points in the NHL this season. Do they even have any bonafide #1 line forwards right now? I can't see any, Bell would be excellent on an #2 line for most teams, but like Arny was he's forced to play on the 1st line. We've got Seabrook, Keith, Aucoin, Vandermeer, and Barker, and quite a few guys who should be fighting it out to get that #6 D spot for the next few years. Johnson may be a damn good prospect, but like Tony said, this needs a goal scorer in the worst way possible. Of course, knowing the Hawks we'll end up with the 3rd or 4th pick, and miss out on both of em. the need of a goal scorer, and a power foward has been shown in the worst possibly way. there is no question about that. but i am talking about rumors of a bad attitude and moody, whether they are true, but what if they are? with johnson, can he be the next scott stevens and do you give up on that??

is angleo esposito the of tony??? man he looks alot like tony
