  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 03:37 PM) Eaton is great leading off. His steals aren't great but he gets on base and was according to Bill James, the White Sox best baserunner in 2015. There is no reason to move him. I hope they try Melky back at the 2 spot. He supposedly was perfect for it until he couldn't buy a hit for a couple of months. i am confuse in this. having melky bat #2. this of course is my looking at last season stats. are those the stats that the FO depend on??? over the course of his career, he is the perfect #2 with hitting the most hrs and having the highest avg. looking at his second best is batting #3, but his power diminish and while his avg is higher i think, his hr is not. so based on this, i will take him at #2 and no where below #4.
  2. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) This is what I think. Of all the guys on our roster, Melky fits there best, he just simply has to have a better year. i agree. if someone on this team needs to do better, outside laroche, it must be melky.
  3. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 02:36 PM) This may work out well. Big spenders don't seem to be involved. Upton is a solid player. I wouldn't sign him but he's my first choice if we must acquire a proven veteran. And given that the Sox seem like they want to convince themselves that they can cimpete in 2016, he's the choice. in some respect, i am glad the sox are not running out there and signing all the top fa's. i will preach this, i trust hahn in doing this the right way.
  4. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 02:10 PM) We've been linked to both Frazier and Upton recently. He's not saying the White Sox are in an envious position right now. There's also no rule that says you can't change to another team if being a White Sox fan is making you so miserable. but that is part of being a life long, dedicated fans. to accept the good with the bad. i am not so incline to accept what the bosses of any org says or dictates, but we have the right to insist and maybe demand that our fav team does better. how ever, will anything we say, will that change the owners POV. only when the purchasing of tickets will help that point go over better.
  5. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 01:30 PM) I actually think the entire AL is wide open. while i agree that the AL is open, but wide?? however there are fav's still going to rule the AL. but man, the NL is getting all the press, b/c they are doing to most to improve. i believe if the sox makes some more smart moves, at least AL central may be a tight battle with the sox knocking on the door. good post
  6. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 09:11 AM) Surfing other fan forums and found this comparing the free agent OFs.... Pretty nice visual tool to compare these guys offensively. HT Angles Win fan forum http://i.imgur.com/PNm8mjt.png http://i.imgur.com/HJcXhkw.png http://i.imgur.com/DSxb0OE.png http://i.imgur.com/0iT6r7G.png http://i.imgur.com/qWpIdsZ.png EXCELLENT find and sharing this. based on this, i like Yoenis Cespedes as the best investment, based on the above graph, and based on Baseball Reference for the past yrs, it is pretty close to what i may considered as his standard. anyway, isn't comiskey would be a somewhat a hitters park??

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 01:50 PM) Watched Trainwreck last night. It was okay. I still don't like Amy Schumer, but I don't regret watching the movie. PS, I think if Cena and other guys have to get naked, so should she. well, you gave the movie more credit than it deserved. i really don't she is funny.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 09:53 AM) I give up then if my idea sucks. Cause I see no way we contend with this crummy team we have now. Your post shuts me up. I'm resigned to another s***ty team I guess. greg, i have to go with blacksox 13 here, i am all for trading rodon for a huge pkg of prospects and players, anything short of that, no way. frazier, i wanted him in some of my discussion with other posters at the end of the season, but the ransom that cincy wants is too outrageous to think about. yes, if the sox do not do something drastic on the trade front, no matter how anyone will paint it, this will be a long season. hoping for a bounce back instead of getting a player who could be of help, if this bounce back stumbles. not address the over talent on the team, and i am not saying sign 1 huge fa and that should satisfy the masses.
  9. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 06:42 AM) That's a topic that every team at some point discusses. Is it the goalie playing out of his mind, or the defense playing well? No one can really ever answer that. The fact remains the Top 4 at least has been playing solid hockey. I really like the player TVR has turned into. If Gus can at least be decent, Rozsival, Scuduri and Rundblad hopefully can rotate in and out and not be noticed too much as the #6 man. Shockingly, I don't think Rozy has been that bad when they give him a few nights off. If he plays 2, maybe 3 times a week, I think you can get by. you make a valid point, at least in my way of thinking. speaking of which, i feel that in Q system, they, the goalie, dman and forwards are really needed to make a successful team in this era and it all has a domino effect to winning. first you really need the forward who will carry the attack and be able to come back and back check effectively and be responsible for their position. next your dman, they really need to be above avg dman and have the ability to log some crazy minutes. lastly is the goalie. he will need to have, both the ability and talent to stop the puck. if one group is more important in Q system, it is the dman and what is required from them. they are the glue. now scuduri will be better than daley, imo b/c of the style of hockey he plays. all defensive.......
  10. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 03:42 AM) This is the kind of trade you make when no other GM is going to help you out. Everyone knows where the Blackhawks are weak. No GM in this conference, let alone the rest of the NHL is actually going to help the Blackhawks solve their defensive issues without some massive return. i know....i am wondering how bowman pulled this trade off. he prob has some incriminating picts.....
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 03:42 AM) No. Scuderi is a traffic cone. I assume this is precluding another move. now that is funny.
  12. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 02:32 AM) I really wonder if there were locker room issues with Daley cause this is not a move on paper that makes sense, even with some savings. I do hope Gustafsson comes back up with the little salary that has been opened, he was playing well before he got sent down. I wouldn't be surprised if they just waive Scuderi at some point. but with ref to both daley and scuderi, the western canadian teams are looking for dman's. it was again rumored that the hawks had a deal made, but the hawks wanted too much. a 2nd rounder and a prospects.
  13. I wouldn't be surprised if they just waive Scuderi at some point. you bring up an interesting point. i wish i knew. if i remember correctly, i believe last week it was mention that Daley asked to be traded. now i wish i remember which site i read that from. so i wonder it that was a true request or not.
  14. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 02:25 AM) No it's not, since Pitt is retaining 33% of the salary. That's the only reason this move was made, Scuderi is a much worse player than Daley, somehow.. i was going with what the post said, it didn't mention anything of the 33% savings. if he is a worst player, and i am not saying he is or isn't ..... then why make that trade, for the 33% savings?? ooops you already answered it.
  15. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 02:19 AM) RT @MarkLazerus: #Blackhawks trade Trevor Daley to Penguins for defenseman Rob Scuderi. this is a lateral move, with ref to salary. ~~~ edit, he is considered a defensive defenseman. so he is a much better dman than daley. i can live with that.
  16. this is my second pipe-dream today. i wish of all things, i can have a 2 way conversation with hahn. i will even promise if will never post what was said, unless i am on my death bed.
  17. QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 01:42 AM) If the Sox don't acquire a SS, I'd be more comfortable trying Sanchez in the 2 hole, than Saladino. I like Tyler, but I don't think that he profiles well at that spot in the lineup. That is where Sanchez has regularly hit, and where he has had his best success. However, he would have to improve significantly, over his Big League performance. last year. at least you are being honest. i will have to wait until spring training to figure this out.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 02:01 AM) Does anyone really believe they're prepared to add $30-35 million to this year's payroll? There also has to be some concern about what Buehrle has left in the tank and how sad it would be to see two franchise icons go out in less than stellar fashion, after the way Konerko's farewell tour played out and all we could think was how he USED to be the best fastball hitter in the game before injuries and age finally took their toll. As much as I'd love to believe he would do just fine, a large part of me is concerned he would be better off retiring...especially if the team's out of the race early, it would be especially sad to see him pitching in meaningless games, rather than starting for the Cardinals, for example. As a lifetime Buehrle fan, he deserves that opportunity. Just don't think either will happen at this point. i really don't remember how it was said or in what content it was meant. but the sox said that they will prob spend something like 20 mil. now back to your question, do i think they will spend 30-35 mil this yr on payroll. well i will be honest, i never thought they would spend 10 mil. i will also admit that i was wrong in that area as well.. for the life of me, i really don't have a clue as to how much they will spend .
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 02:08 AM) But there are several ways to achieve profitability - this is just one of them. They could also go the Astros route/KC route. Or they could go the Marlins route. And to be honest, from a cost-benefit perspective, that is clearly the safer way to go about it, because revenue sharing pretty much guarantees them a profit no matter what they put on the field. ummm never thought of this, this way.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 02:08 AM) Texas has Andrus anyway, so I'd bet that a couple pitching prospects and a guy like Saladino would be able to get Profar. I'd love to see Hahn go after him, but it probably won't happen. He's still super young and had a nice showing in the AFL a few weeks ago. yeah, we as fans have no inside info at the present time, it is driving me crazy.
  21. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 02:07 AM) A SP who is a top 50 prospect in all of baseball that has done nothing but pitch great + An OF with all the tools in world who just tore up the AFL + a 22 year old with a 95+ mph fastball At least that's how I'd spin it to Colorado...Not saying it would definitely get it done but I'd say it would be pretty damn close. Montas is nothing to scoff at for most players in this league imo. Did you just see what Ken Giles was traded for? Montas has a lot more value then people want to admit. Maybe it would take a slightly better 3rd prospect than Leyer, but no one substantial. At least all in my opinion. We're all just guessing here right? you really make a good point. but this is on me, i can't see this properly. i am too much against this and i do not know why.
  22. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 02:04 AM) Doesn't Saladino basically fit your description? good point and yes he does, in my opinion.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 02:03 AM) Jurickson Profar is my dream SS acquisition. not bad, mine is dee gordon.
  24. QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 02:01 AM) If the Sox can sign Upton, why not then focus their attention on finding a good fielding SS, who could bat in the 2 hole, and not cost a draft pick or anyone significant on the roster? I'd prefer that addition to trading for Frazier. Any candidates? I think the lineup would be fine with those additions: Eaton CF ???? SS (Profile: good bunter, hit and run threat, and decent OBP. Average and power not important) Abreu 1B Upton RF Melky LF Lawrie 3B La Roche DH Avila/Navarro C Sanchez 2B Avi and Thompson battle for the reserve OF spot. That team should be able to score some runs, and provide decent defense. i hope you don't take this the wrong way, but whichever ss you trade, sign, the sox have anderson coming up maybe in 2017. so what to do with said ss that your traded or signed??
  25. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 01:18 AM) I agree with everything you said and I think right now, they haven't pigeon holed themselves to one direction vs. the other yet. What they can't do is the status quo or even worse move assets for a half assed contention. Either contend or retool with a longer term plan. That could mean you sign a big name and focus on turning some assets for the future or that just fit better. they the owners can't afford to do that and yes, i said afford. b/c if they do a total rebuild, the sox will loose what ever their market in the media attraction of chi is. now also imagine the lost in more fans, the season tickets will plummet as will all the advertising they have left. they, the owners really need to step up and really invest what will be needed to fix this screwed up situation that, thru their neglect have put this team in.
