  1. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 02:18 AM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/roya...s-gonzalez.html Rockies are listening to offers on CarGo, Dickerson and Blackmon. Dickerson's youth, years of control (4) and left handed power potential would be a great fit for the Sox. Problem is that Dickerson had plantar fasciitis last season which I believe is what Gillaspie was dealing with and doesn't go away very easily. I don't know much about the problem but it could make Dickerson a potential buy low candidate due to the risk. But is the risk worth it? Blackmon is older (29) but brings speed and three years of control and a little pop. CarGo is expected by the Rockies to bring a nice haul and I kinda doubt the Sox would want to pay the price. Anyone have thoughts/insights on these three left handed hitting outfielders? to be honest, i would pass on all 3, ref to dickerson. i have the same problem. i can't jog like i used to and have to buy special shoes for it. this is going on 13 yrs.
  2. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 04:25 PM) neither were the Blackhawks that comment in itself explains alot. i am not sold on darling as a goalie in the nhl.

    2015 Films thread

here i am sick and wanting to go to the movies. but before i do go, has anyone seen the new moby dick movie???
  4. why should the sox be a happy loser when the sox have an imbecilic gm in kw and a skin flint for owners who can't see the big picture.
  5. QUOTE (Saufley @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 06:42 PM) Pressure is on White sox FO. Better make some news to be relevant in this town! yeah, i hope hahn can get around kw and talk to the owners about that.
  6. i wonder if the sox have anything the cards want.... meaning Q and what would they be willing to give up. i know they can go and get cueto but i would also double up on another ace sp, if i was the cards.
  7. can they or would they be a little strap and make major moves???
  8. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 06:24 PM) Where did I say any of that? I was alluding to the 3 teams in the running for him as I said the previous day. either way, many teams are going to wait to see what heyward does and then, imo there will be a next wave of movement. now whether the sox will be in that group or not, who knows.
  9. well i really hate to be cocky here, but what the hay, i will. since the old rival days, the sox posters has always been the best. no if, and or but to that. the best. it is a mixture of the south side chi attitude and constantly being count out. and we have still alive and kicking. to all the other forum site who poster tried to come in and intimate the the group and failed, we have survive and to the time we shut down one natt'; sport magazine forum down, we still have survived. all this was b/c of the owner, admin / mods and the posters. now for the cockiness, i just can't help it, we are the best sports fans out there.....
  10. QUOTE (woods of ypres @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 01:09 AM) Bump: If a woman tells you something along the lines of "don't wait, I don't know when there will be time", "you're a free man, you need to find someone without kids", and "I don't want you to get hurt by me.", she's letting you down easy, right? she is coming up with everything plausible as a possible excuse on why it would not work including the bold. i hate to say this, but be a gentleman and with class and say you understand. do not say the kill words of what will make you look weak. when you have a chance call me, i will wait. sorry, i hope i didn't overstep my grounds.
  11. i wasn't even interested in tonite's game, i was more interesting in any news on fa or trades of mlb. dang. darling.
  12. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 05:06 AM) Ritchie was bad, but he was only with the Sox for 1 year. We had to endure Navarro for 3 full seasons...ouch. and yet laroche is with the team for 1 yr and he made the list. a strange inconsistency here.
  13. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 05:13 AM) No idea why, but I just had a weird daydream/vision in my head of the Sox trading Adam Eaton for Todd Frazier, Jay Bruce, and Jumbo Diaz. I can't decide what my reaction would be to this. In one instance, we get a great 3B and and a nice arm in the pen. But, we also get Jay Bruce, who although has a ton of power, is such a liability in the OF that he is really a DH candidate at this point. Wouldn't be thrilled about losing Eaton, but I guess Trayce gets a chance in CF and Bruce is still an upgrade over Avi in RF, especially if he bounces back to what he used to be. Maybe we sign a Cespedes then for CF. Anyway. Since we don't have a catch-all, I guess random stuff like this is supposed to get it's own thread. Thoughts? I'm truly torn. mail me some of that stuff you took.
  14. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 12:46 AM) Hahn: "Jerry (Reinsdorf) tends to be the most aggressive guy in the room when it comes to putting us in position to win and win quickly." https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/674735153541943296 and how many world series rings has that gotten this team????
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 05:36 AM) He has potential still, but why don't the A's want him? Beane is a genius and he wants no part of him. I wonder if he'll be coachable or if as a No. 1 draft pick he'll be difficult for Robin. I'd feel better about this deal if he didn't have the reputation as a jerk and the fact Mr. Beane wanted to get rid of him so badly. if rep, his rumors problems whether it is real or not or embellish, that is of the past. he is starting a new chapter and should be judge by those new actions.
  16. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 04:29 AM) I apologize for being realistic about the situation. Any reasonable person can actually look at Trayce's numbers with an unbiased eye and realize his chances of being a stater aren't great. It's not my opinion, it's statistics. The Anderson comparison is unfair I admit, but I was speaking more in terms of hype than play on the field. I think Trayce will definitely find a home on our team and shouldn't be traded at all...I just think that his home is as a defensive replacement/spot starter. Going into the season with him as a starter and no replacement plan besides Avi/Shuck would be a big mistake in my opinion. Unless we aren't spending $ for a playoff push.... pssst that is why i think avi will be sent to the minors. but don't let elrockinMT know i said that.
  17. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 03:24 AM) Dude has some massive power. I hope he puts it together this year actually i think i would be happy with him at 3b, trade for a young of'er and sign a big bat of'er.
  18. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 03:20 AM) Anyone else think his swing is a mash of Gordon Beckham and Javier Baez? Or just me? his swing with that bat is like a wiffle bat. powerful swing.
  19. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:03 PM) We do this thread every year, and every year the correct answer is Jaime Navarro. Factor in his salary, playing time, attitude, opportunity cost and general suckiness--his best ERA+ with the Sox was 81!--no one can hold a candle to him in my opinion. His only redeeming quality was that we got Eldred and Valentin for him, leading to the successful 2000 team. Otherwise...yuck. He was the worst. really.... i really thought it would be todd ritchie.
  20. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 02:57 AM) OF Yoenis Cespedes 4y/$80m SS Ian Desmond 1y $8.5m Erik Johnson to Red Sox for 2B Brock Holt 1 Adam Eaton CF 2 Ian Desmond SS 3 Jose Abreu 1B 4 Yoenis Cespedes LF 5 Brock Holt 2B 6 Brett Lawrie 3B 7 Melky Cabrera DH 8 Trayce Thompson RF 9 Navarro/Avila C Avila, Garcia, Sanchez, LaRoche (so stupid he has to be on the Sox still) off the bench. Pitching is the same. not bad, i like the b. holt trade.... thinking... i also like another pitcher sp-Ryan Vogelsong. i just do not know why. i think he can be had for 2 yrs... low salary.
  21. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 03:07 AM) I'm just havin' a bit of fun to pass the time. There's probably a heck of a bidding war going on between the Nat's, Angels, Cards and baby bears. Really curious to see which ones caughs up the money and for how much. oops my bad i thought it was a final verdict. . but seriously that was some funny s***.
  22. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 02:54 AM) Weather Alert: flash flood warning for the North Side of Chicago. A high pressure system of over zealous expectations by fans of that area will produce heavy rains from the eyes of said fans after tropical storm Heyward moves to the DC area. Heavy rains are expected to continue in the wake of tropical storm Heyward indefinitely. Take caution and plan accordingly for provisions such as rain gear, canned food, ear plugs, duct tape and it would be especially beneficial if one knows how to build a boat. End weather statement. oh man that was extremely funny and org. btw i am soooo freaking happy about heyward moving to dc
  23. QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 01:30 AM) The problem is that he will likely not be able to sustain that defensive prowess for the latter years of a 10 year contract. A good hitter might be able to produce big offensive production in his 30's, but elite defense is a little tougher. a very good point.
  24. QUOTE (woods of ypres @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 02:12 AM) Agreed. His defence seemed to slip once he was splitting time between second and third. oh that is excellent. i never even thought to look at that stat.
  25. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:44 AM) I think Fangraphs had him as one of the worse defensive players in MLB last year...atleast that's what I can recall from that post about Zobrist yesterday and again i will say i didn't think that is all true. then again i do know nothing of advance metrics. btw, is that the only source that tell these things.
