QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:40 PM) He was rated as the worst defensive OFer last year. really, i didn't think that was true. ... it is still was saying he played very good rf.
-
i will again go out on a limb..... Kemp to chi. 4 yrs at 19 .... still play very good defense. still hits and still capable of hitting 25+ hrs and will cost a low pitching prospect. Padres want to do a salary dump.

QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:21 AM) Royce Clayton when he couldn't hit over .200. he was not the worst.... he was the biggest dick every right up there is ty cobb. -
QUOTE (kevo880 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:44 PM) Lol dude come one, he's not getting released regardless what happens. Also don't think he will start the season in the minors. dang, ok, all i will say is i have always been different. i love a good risk. shiite look at last yr, i predicted the sox to win over 90 games.... that in itself should tell people i am not playing with a full deck.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:30 PM) They thought he could possibly play CF. he was young and then got hurt twice. who knows, maybe they will blame that on his missing developmental time.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:30 PM) Matt Eddy @MattEddyBA #WhiteSox sign LHP Matt Purke to minors deal. Also: SS Andy Parrino, adding to middle-infield depth along with Steve Lombardozzi r they the new ss and 3b???

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:28 PM) If LaRoche bounce back and hit .240 and with HR in the mid teens, or Danks has an ERA in the low 4.00 (which isn't out of the question), then they would fit a need for some teams in the race. For comparison sake, that's similar to the numbers that Aramis Ramirez and Matt Latos put up when they were traded last season. I still don't see these routine trade deadline deals of expiring contracts as gambles by any measure. ok, i can see that we agree to disagree.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:26 PM) Avi Garcia is NOT going to the minors. He might be part of a trade, but not being sent down and I will bet your house on it ok, lets see what happens. if he is not traded. now being release is another thing as well.

1 yr, eddie einhorn pres traded kip wells a promising pitcher for Todd Ritchie..... the sox put him on the d/l to save him the embarrassment of continuing the season. -
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:17 PM) If we add Heyward for $200 million I'd still not be happy with Anderson and co for Frazier. There's just no match there. i know what you mean, but if the sox did pick up an ace kind of of'er like heywar or upton or someone else thru a trade. i can see if the sox will insist on 1 of cincy promising ss to be included into the pkg or trade for a young ss prospect who is at least 2 yrs away then make that trade with cincy. fyi anderson is a better ss prospect than anything cincy has in the next 3 yrs. but they do have some really promising ss .

QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:17 PM) $200 million for 7 to 10 years seems like an overpay to me. He is not an elite offensive player. Great defense in RF is not that hard to find. Moreover, he is not the solution to our need for a clean up hitter. But then, I've said that already. i usually have something that i will pipe in and say, but for the life of me, i am at a lost. only reasoning i can think of..... it is what the market is.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:11 PM) Wait the Sox have a crowded OF? Who's crowding it? All the negative WAR bums? i know. avi is as good as being sent to minors. TT is being offered in trades. melky if needed can move to DH so in essence they have 2 opening in the of and one at 3b.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:10 PM) For how many years is that $200 million offer? 10
-
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:08 PM) That would be some surprise for the fan base. You add Heyward and I'd be willing to give up Tim Anderson for Todd Frazier. I know it's a pipe dream but I'd go to war with that team. and they will win every media war with the northside. keep the that pen together and add a sp. wow.

QUOTE (Saufley @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:07 PM) I appreciate your hope for a miracle but I'm not expecting one. I for one would like to see Upton sign but worry about how a $200 mil deal for Heyward would affect an Upton contract. i can understand everyone like for upton, but he caring a rep of difficult prima donna. but those are rumors... lawrie didn't carry this rep. the only one now in mlb who is avail is pedro alvarez. i just don't know.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 09:56 PM) The only way that I'd hold out any real hope of a bounce back from Adam, is if he was injured last season. If he was healthy last year, it seems unreasonable to expect him to do significantly better, at age 36. Then too, there is the pattern of guy coming off a solid career in the NL, specifically with Washington in his last several seasons, before coming to the Sox. Dunn was much younger, and he was even worse, in his first year with the Sox. ok i will play, then if he was injured then why did the sox announce he is avail??? why offer him and 8 mil to pitt ??? more importantly why not use the press group to do damage control???

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 09:56 PM) I'm not trying to get political here, but DiCaro cynically exploits a victim mentality to insulate herself from criticism while she deliberately seeks out persecution on social media. It's just trolls trolling trolls to infinity and she milks her BS protected status as a woman to pretend like she's somehow above the fray. there is a difference .... in the scope of the law, it is one thing, but in the opinions of everyone else, it is another.
-
QUOTE (shysocks @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 09:53 PM) Escobar is seen as a a difficult teammate. Not passing judgment on whether the Sox should have gotten him or not, but it's relevant, especially when it personality came up in the Lawrie thread. but for a limited contract length.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 09:51 PM) Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS 4m4 minutes ago Hear, too, that heyward is said to have a $200M offer. More likely to be from nats or cards than cubs. Could be 4th team tho. would love for the sox to swoop in and make a last minute bid and win.
-
just updated on rumor page, nat'l now threw their hat into the sweep state for heyward. there are the mystery team

QUOTE (Special K @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) Why didn't we go for Yunel Escobar. Angels got him for a reliever. Cost a lot less than Frazier. And he put up very nice numbers last year including a .375 OBP and this team is desperate for OBP guys. Would've slotted in so well at 3b and then we could've focused on getting a power bat either via trade or free agency... That's the route I would've gone, and we could save our prospects. Plus he had a nice contract option, so we let him go if he didn't work out, or pick up and keep him for another year if things did. i was thinking that this morning and thinking of the trip to cuba as well. getting him aelxei and jose a, cuba can being a instant white sox fan. but hey, what the hell do i know. i work for a living.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 09:41 PM) You got it right. He's washed up cause of his age. He was bad from beginning to end of last season. He's just done. if one can make a judgement based on someone last performance, then you are right. is there a chance it might not happen, maybe, but then the sox believe it to be so, but they made an announcement that is was avail and rpts of the club making an offer to pitt and with 8 mil as a sweetener.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 09:40 PM) You know...I'm not going to lie...if you got the right offer, I wouldn't be opposed to selling "high" on Trayce. The key would be if you could package him as a key cog in a deal that got you another piece you really liked. I don't see how Trayce can be an everyday hitter and I love Trayce. I just don't see anything from his historical track-record which would indicate he'd be good enough offensively. That said, I fully agree that he's better than Avi. I love the idea of adding another outfielder, moving Avi, using Trayce / eaton and other outfielder plus Melky can DH / play a bit of outfield (and you have Shuck on the bench as well). just a long shot here, but can this be an idea of the sox making plans for a new of"er to come in??

it all depends on the money...

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 10:04 PM) while we don't hope for the Sox to have a bad year, the OP clearly stated that the Sox are out of the race and becomes seller at the trade deadline in the said scenario. At that point, you aren't counting on trading LaRoche or Danks to get back a major piece, but rather salvaging them for whatever low-mid level prospects you could get and getting out of paying for remaining of their salary. I don't think that's a gamble by any means. tell me, do you really think that the sox can trade them, even of a low minor league prospect????
