QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 07:55 PM) They may want that, but that doesn't mean the Sox would agree to it. to tell you the truth, i was responding to someone and i really can't remember the point i was trying to make. but dodger will want anything, but the sox are way smarter than that/

Is there a club who holds their cards closer to the vest than Sox?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 07:40 PM) Genuine question. It sure seems like you see fewer rumors, leaks and statements from the White Sox than any other team. And it seems people know far less about the direction they are taking, than other teams. Is there another MLB team at the Sox level on this? If so, whom? i think 2 additional only b/c when it is known they want to move on someone, they do it quickly and many seems to be caught flat footed. Oak and Atl. then i will put the sox up there. -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:21 PM) No chance. Q would cost Joc Pederson +. I think Rodon would actually cost more than Q. No chance the Dodgers would ask for that in return. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 06:20 PM) Rodon or Q for Ethier? Nooooo ethier and eating laroche contract and taking laroche with no where to play him except for b/u for Q. i am just thinking that is what the dodger may want to do. am i for it, no freaking way.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 06:47 PM) It would indicate to me a starting pitcher or 2 is being sent to another team. there is 4 sp's that is a guarantee. the 5 sp is still up for grasp with the WM starting next week, where many unknown trades will happen. but i think you may be right there, the question is which ones will be traded.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 02:44 AM) Psh and people here thought he'd accept the QO. even if he did, a sp at 16+ who needs to do the best he can to redeem his value, by default, the sox will get the reward as well not only but the win / lost stat, then next yr give him another QO..

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:14 PM) Where would the White Sox play him? if he is any where close to that, in place of Avi.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 01:33 PM) I think the new catching duo is something to be excited about. A healthy Avila is is better defensively than Flowers and Navarro is at least on par with Flowers except Navarro has a better arm. The Sox should be throwing out more base runners this year and the platoon bats of Navarro/Avila should put up more offense than Flowers as well. The catching position needed to be upgraded and has been and it did not cost the Sox prospects or much money which leaves plenty of resources to be used to fill a few gaping holes. i agree. no matter how i try to paint a positive picture for flowers, it comes back to his hitting. the team needs to get better and until the system starts producing, these kind of fixes are needed.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 01:47 PM) I get that. Makes sense. But they are really scraping the bottom for these guys and haven't done much with them over last 2 years. Putnam is their best example ( but it pales in comparison to, say, what Astros did with scrap heap McHugh). Noesi was Coopers handpicked project. Hope likes Korea. And then we see what he did with Samardzija. Q wasn't fixed. He pitched well for Yanks-they just made a bad move and the Sox a savvy move. i am going to play devils advocate here. as you mention, bottom feeding. the success, the main one for me is Hector the yr before --> no pitching is coming in, Hector Noesi was a surprise and the FO had high hopes for Felipe Paulino who failed. they would have needed to go and get someone to fill in if Hector didn't panned out. yeah they lost money, but sames prospects in trading for help. now last yr, hector flamed out, however he paid off the yr before, the FO didn't address sp in the offseason, well just b/c. sale got hurt, the sox needed to maybe ruch rodon .... conor failed, so off the scrap heap, Olt was picked. olt jury is srill out. putnam as you said. so this is a limited and short idea of what was saved and what wasn't. it may have given the FO a reprieve for yr 1 but the FO didn't have any plan or idea to do if that success story failed the 2 nd yr. no backup plan to fall back on, being short sighted in my opinion.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 01:50 PM) Should the White Sox be interested in Andre Ethier if the Dodgers would eat LaRoche's contract? Ethier is 33 years old and is owed $37.5 million the next 2 years. How much would the Dodgers have to eat? Ethier put up a 2.9 fWAR and had a wRC+ of 137 last year. He was really good vs RHP. Vs RHP: .385 wOBA, 150 wRC+, high .336 BABIP, with a .900 OPS. My question is: What would it take? Who would the Dodgers have to take back in return and how much money would they have to eat? Ethier would give the Sox the LH run producer against RHP that they need and if they could dump LaRoche, it could give them flexibility with DH spot. imo, the dodger will start with rodon then move on to Q is they are expecting to eat laroche contract and get ethier.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 02:38 PM) Laroche still plays a capable 1b. Those guys don't. The value of the all or nothing slugger is fading and p. alvarez does not play good 1b. he is a dh kind of a player.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 01:55 PM) If the centerpiece of a Q trade is Baez, I will probably stop being a Sox fan i too will really consider the sox FO is a lost cause until the sox gets a new owner and fires kw.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 05:12 AM) Trades for Lawrie White Sox get: Brett Lawrie As get: Erik Johnson and Thaddius Lowry Trades for CarGo and DJ LeMahieu White Sox get: CarGo and LeMahieu Rockies get: Frankie Montas, Adam LaRoche, Carlos Sanchez and Avi Garcia Bold trade prediction White Sox trade Jose Quintana to the Dodgers White Sox get: Joc Pederson, Jose DeLeon and Austin Barnes Dodgers get: Jose Quintana Then after Hahn makes a flurry of trades, signs two pitchers: Doug Fister 3 years $36 million Trevor Cahill 1 year $4.5 million plus incentives (Coop'll fix him) Ok let's see how bad I get crucified ref the bold, i will think that is not enuf to pull off the trade, esp asking Col to eat laroche contract. also, i think Lehaieu is one of their core players for their future ....

QUOTE (beautox @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 12:06 PM) I would prefer Hwang 28 years old solves a pain point for the near future as Trey Michalczewski continues to develop and fits well with the rest of this core (Sale, Q, Abreu & Eaton). We should be finding out shortly as the announcement should come today who won the bidding. i wish they the sox had more prospects at ss and 3b instead of just the one.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 07:48 AM) I disagree. Schwarber's legit. I don't expect the same power numbers but I think he can be a ~30 HR guy. i don't know. all i know is hitting in wrigley will not hurt.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 02:05 PM) And also the problem with pitch framing is now people point to it and say Flowers is a good defensive catcher. His strongest point of value is his rapport with the pitchers and maybe how he calls a game ( debatable). That's it .He's terrible at blocking pitches in the dirt . It's not his fault he's a huge guy and just not nimble or quick enough. Why don't people trust their own eyes ? this is a yr by yr debate and it now comes to an end. flowers has alot of good for what many was saying is his defense. but the sox is changing that, they was some more offense coming from their catching position, at maybe the expense of the defense. ok that is their call. but other positions need to be address more than catching for that offense.

QUOTE (beautox @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 12:45 PM) As others have said if Ray is available he will be the pick but if not, which i don't think he will since he has the highest floor of all the college bats, Jordan Sheffield fits the sox very well. Short(er) stature, amazing stuff, bullpen to rotation transition, unique pitching motion and Vandy. Similar profile to Fulmer and possibly as quick of a path to the majors. Sox have shown they're capable of consistently identify and developing top level arms, Sheffield with all this perceived questions fits them perfectly. ok, thanks for that.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) I hadn't seen it or Skyfall, but I saw Spectre with some friends. My dad said I needed to see Solace and Skyfall to get it. Solace...was so bad. Just. So bad. i am a huge bond fan.... but of all the movies of james bond, i really think Solace is the worst one. but as your father said, it needed to be seen in order to under stand the story, i think.

QUOTE (beautox @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 06:48 AM) I wouldn't mind Jordan Sheffield at 10, fits the sox MO especially if Ray is going to be scooped up before hand. Sox are slowing showing they might be capable of developing major league bats with Semien, Micah, Trayce and Sanchez but the jury is still out and Anderson as great of a prospect he is still has a some road ahead of him before he makes it to Chicago. an interesting name there. for him to be there, he will need to be lights out unhittable. there is many things that, according to some prospects profiles him as being very similar to Carson Fulmer, down to the same unusual pitching effort .... same height, same school, same pitching speed with JS being maybe a little faster. another player to keep an eye on next season. now for that hitting rep the sox have and it is slowly going disappearing.. i still believe a lot of it has to do with the philosophy of what the scouts of the sox are looking at. if they continue on the path of, lets say Hawkins and before, they are gambling and have been loosing. if they do not draft the right person, no matter what or how good of instructors they have, if it is not in the book of stars, that that player will not be a mlb player. antoher thing is this idea of rushing players thru the system was embraced by the sox, when i have a guess, but that is not important now. i do not like the idea of rushing players thru the org.... esp on key players. i would like it to be slowed down a little and to be looked at on a case by case basses and even then just maybe slow it down. i still believe that, everything really starts with drafting the right players after identifying them. edited.....

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 01:18 AM) Why would the Sox want those 2? On other matters: Lawrie's no better than average. Micah would be a fair deal for him, especially as Robbie doesn't know how to use him. Cargo be just a ridiculous trade. $20 mill a year, 2 year rent, heavily stacked Coors field stats, low OBP, lots of Ks. Sox need to build, not wish-cast. i know .... cargo with many posters hoping for a trade. i just can't see him doing good outside coors. i know it is me....

oh man, i just ate a extremely hot as in spicy hot beef sandwich. i made it my self following al's restaurant copycat recipe and the deli's cajun beef. ok, the thing i learn, ref red flakes in not the same as cayenne pepper flakes. so i will try this again next week. but my friends love it, but they are cajun people love hot spicy food.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 11:09 PM) I think we can move LaRoche if we eat some money or all. I want him gone so we can move Melky to DH. Trayce Eaton CarGo. Or any rotation of OFs you want to do. Eaton Trayce CarGo. the chance of laroche going to another team is like the chances of RV managing the sox ..... seriously i am not being a smartass.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 12:03 AM) Why do the White Sox need to spend money on a closer? well somewhere i read mention a pen kind of pitcher. well that can be him, he had a lousy yr the cost factor is the only thing. he has a track record of success, so it is not a player who was plugged off the heap.
-
i believe this was mention on a shopping list of some kind for the sox to do or need to address. i like the idea of a closer / rp .... esp with my fiasco this morning on Holland. well in the FA market i have been reading about closer - Steve Cishek. if the cost isn't too much, why not, he is right handed and has had success as a closer... ok last yr was a bad yr... but still.

well no offense to anyone, but i will use this as a quasi catch all on baseball in general. http://www.rantsports.com/mlb/2015/12/01/5...baseball-world/ interesting esp on the northside team.
