    Joe Borchard

    Without the possibility of parole.
  2. They've all been disappointing, although knock on wood MB seems to be coming around nicely. I would vote for Koch. He's making that trade look like Ritchie part dieux. I wonder did Beane know something that KW didn't? He's lost 8-10 mph on his fastball and you see what a grand success he's been as a "finesse" pitcher. KW taken to the cleaners. AGAIN.

    Any lawsuit experts?

Did your firm have written guidelines on the hiring and termination of employees? If they do, are they in conflict or accordane with the laws of your state? Did they follow their written guidelines when they terminated you? I'm not trying to steal anybodys thunder here, but I think these questions are very important in your case. That and listen to what CW said.
  4. At least they get a split, but this was a truly baaaaad road trip.

    What is your IQ?

The reviver of old dead threads is here once again. After doing some research and conferring with those who know more about this I've learned that there is a rough consensus about what constitutes a reliable IQ test. A good IQ test should have Numerical/Mathematical, Logical, Verbal, Visual Spatial, Technical, General Knowledge and Speed components to it.
  6. It all went bad in St. Petersburg when Koch gave up that homer to Crawford in the first game of that series with the mighty Rays. This is truly the road trip from hell.
  7. While we're on the subject, does anyone need or know someone who needs an Insurance or Legal Investigator. This economy is really in the dumper. Texsox I hope you make a connection real soon. Luckily for me, my employed wife is not kicking me out on the street. Not yet anyway. May the Sox keep winning and may deserving Sox netters land those jobs.
  8. What I'm saying in no uncertain terms is I wish I never heard of Kenny Williams. There are so many things wrong with the White Sox right now, I'd hardly know where to begin. That being said KW's hiring has turned out to be a disaster. I'm not going to get into a line by line account of all his trades. Baggio did a great job of that recently on this board. The man simply does not have the temperament or the savvy to swim with the sharks in MLB. He is the worst kind of boss imaginable. He's both arrogant and incompetent. I've had the pleasure of working in that type of environment. Three years ago it looked like the Sox were poised for a long run of success. Now it looks like it will take 5 years minimum before this team can compete again. KW has to take his share of the "credit" for this fiasco. He's made numerous bad deals, micromanaged like a tyrant. He's always ready to pull the trigger on that "big' deal to put the team over the top instead of thinking a little bit and trying to assemble a winning team one piece at a time. A winning team that is prepared to be competitive over the long haul. A long time ago the White Sox were dead in the water, the absolute worst team in the AL. A veteran baseball man was brought in as GM and told to do what it takes to get the team winning again. He got the White Sox Nellie Fox, Billy Pierce, Minnie Minoso and Sherm Lollar for next to nothing. That GM was Frank Lane. Kenny Williams is the anti Frank Lane. You can have him. Thanks HSC for the backup earlier in this thread. It seems like I've been mostly talking to myself on this board lately.
  9. If this is how the majority of posters on this site are going to view KW then I'll be more than glad to be in the minority. There may have been some lousier baseball GMs in my lifetime, I just can't think of any off hand. KW fan club? Not me. Not ever.
  10. I was introduced to White Sox baseball on the radio by Bob Elson and Don Wells.
  11. I can honestly say that in true Chicago tradition I voted early and often for Maggs and Frank.

    Got my ACT scores

I know that money and distance may be a factor for you and your family. I'd just be interested in knowing what a Top 20 school would do with your admission application. By the way I graduated 267th in a field of 529 in a lousy urban high school a long time ago. I majored in dating girls and having a good time. Glad to see you're not the idiot I was. I tried to make up for it as an adult student, but you can never totally recover from a misspent youth.
  13. I agree. Even if this sorry team "turns it around" and wins this equally sorry division who in their right mind thinks they would get past the first round?

In my mind he's been a major disappointment. I always thought he was overrated but hoped last season proved me wrong. I think Corg has it right on this guy.
  15. In Pittsburgh Simon was known as a playful guy with a real good sense of humor. I didn't see the incident but I have to believe he was kidding around and just used poor judgement. Of course maybe he thought it was John Rocker in one of those sausage costumes.

    Got my ACT scores

Those are great scores. I'd like to know what colleges you get accepted to. Assuming you've got the grades to match those scores I would think you would get accepted almost anywhere.

    Konerko

Happens to me all the time. I'm beginning to think that lately nobody reads a frikin thing I post. Didn't used to feel that way but sure do now.
  18. to CW. A very happy birthday to a fellow baby boomer.
  19. If the lower minors are stacked with talent great. I can't remember where I read that the Sox system was now ranked near the bottom. You folks who follow this more than I do, believe me I hope you're right. I'm a White Sox fan. Can't kick the habit.
  20. You're right. I'm not an expert on our low minor prospects. Hope you're correct when you say there's talent there. We need it.
  21. Hopefully this guy makes it because I'm losing faith in our farm system. It's gone from supposedly one of the best in baseball to one of the worst. I'm hopeful for Reed, Webster and maybe Honel and Cotts. After that the cupboard looks mighty bare to me.
  22. I started a thread a while back about the difficulty getting customer service on the phone. This is but another example of how customer service in general has gone to hell in this country. The thing that bothers me is that nobody seems to notice or care unless it affects them, and then only briefly. Things will never change until people start b****ing big time. By the way, when my daughter moved to California a year or so ago she also had a nighmare experience with Northwest. All the airlines are in trouble now with the current economic situation. You'd think they'd be on their best behavior.
  23. I couldn't agree more. I'll be very surprised if he makes it to the ML for any length of time, let alone becomes a star player.
  24. You'd love to have Giles on your team. He's a throwback to another era and he hits the hell out of the ball. He worked really hard to become an excellent defensive outfielder, but he is much more suited to LF than CF. I don't know if he's changed his mind, but in the past he's made it clear that there are only a select few teams he's consider playing for and the White Sox weren't one of them.
