  1. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) I don't know what your definition of crap is, but Jon Rauch is far from crap. He's not the #1-2 starter he was projected to be coming out of the minors, but he's a fine reliever for the Nationals, and I think I've even read he could have a chance to close if Cordero is traded (which seems much more unlikely at this point in time). Exactly. He was doing so good with us here that's why we traded him.
  2. 1. You can have the best stuff in the world, and dominate in the minors (which Danks hasn't exactly done) and still be crap in the majors (Rauch.) Bmac has already transitioned at least decently. There are no guarantees with Danks. 2. You don't know that these prospects will be packaged. 3. Saying Ozzie is to blame for bmac leaving isn't realistic, but saying he had a big hand in it is. 4. For a team that supposedly is competing for a title in 07 we have done nothing to improve ourselves this season other than minor moves. We have no one "ready" to step in the 5th spot. We have potential 5th starters none of which are shoe-ins. This really weakens our 07 squad.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) I'll be thrilled if 2 of them are solid MLB starters. ugh... we better be lucky then. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) I am actually for this deal for a different reason and its because of some inside stuff I know about the situation. Danks is a studly prospect (definately the caliber of McCarthy, although not as developed so there is a risk with that) and Massett is a very good looking young reliever. So are you saying we should be happy?
  4. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) First the important stuff == merry christmas to all. Second, KW has always had a hard on for Danks. I believe we drafted his brother, tried to sign him and lost him to Texas. Third, we know Buehrle is gone if not before the season, then during the season. Danks is left-handed. BMac is not. And, finally, Masset could help in the pen. The question I keep asking is: Danks is a former first rounder, left handed and the top rated pick in the Texas system. Why would the Rangers give up on him.? I thought Hurley was their number 1.
  5. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) i think a big part of the backlash on this is the emotional response to trading a young pitcher who has shown something. it's not necessarily about losing what McCarthy gave us the last two years. people here cant point to past McCarthy accomplishments and say what we lost. just 7 games in 2005. KW does not follow the rules about "you dont trade a 23 yr old pitcher". he has no problem losing Brandon and working to get someone in the 5th role that will put up decent numbers, just as Brandon would have. meanwhile, he takes a risk on potential worldbeaters - and if they dont work out, the 2007 5th starter role will probably be "decent" somehow anyway. this is the thought process of making a trade like this. We knew Brandon would put up at least a 4 ERA. You keep saying these guys will be at least decent. How do you know that?
  6. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) are people confident in Brandon for reasons beyond that stretch of games in 2005? i dont know what else people get so excited about. a lot of people seem to totally ignore 06, in that he was out of his element. but when Brandon would talk about how he missed being able to set people up early in the game...how that was a big part of what he does... doesnt it just reinforce the suspicion we've all had that his stuff isnt that high end? if the guys we got have that kind of stuff, i'm definitely willing to part with a 3.90 ERA 2007 starter. Brandon hasn't hit his potential yet and he could be a #4 now. He's gaining weight which could add a few MPH to his FB. He could have been a starter for any other team in the league last season and we traded him for some prospects?
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) Our two best moves this offseason were our two smallest....re-signing MacDougal and bringing in Hall. Exactly, KW has done nothing significant to fix the problems from the 06 team.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) This isn't a WS contender right now. We have huge holes in LF, CF, and the #5 starter. It would be had he made moves that made sense.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) KW needs to keep his mouth shut, because he's been nothing but hypocritical this offseason. We've now made two moves that significantly hurts the 2007 team, which is something he said we'd never do. He's been saying were making sure were ready in the future all offseason long. I didn't know he meant we were rebuilding because at this point, there are too many question marks for a team that supposed to be a WS contender.
  10. I really hope other people than myself will be calling for KW's head at soxfest. I don't even know if I want to go...
  11. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 03:18 PM) Does anyone know of any other possible trades that this trade may make possible? Nothing that hasn't been mentioned already. KW says he won't trade pitching unless he's getting other pitching. That pretty much excludes Baldelli or Crawford. I don't think the halo's would part with Santana or Lackey for anything we have.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 03:10 PM) So as it stands right now, Floyd-Sisco-Danks are going at it for the 5th starter spot???? The 5th starter merry-go-round is BACK Not to mention the fact that we don't know what were going to get out of everybody in the rotation besides Garland. We've got Vazquez who can't pitch more than 5 innings. Buehrle finished the season getting rocked. Contreras can't stay healthy.
  13. We didn't even get their best in Hurley for McCarthy. KW just got raped and I hope he gets it again at soxfest.
  14. I don't understand this trade at all. At least Cotts was terrible last year and was figured out. We knew one guy in the rotation was leaving and that trade wasn't great. How the hell are we supposed to stay young and good if we trade our young guys READY, for other prospects???
  15. QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 02:47 PM) I refuse to believe this is real. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...6&fext=.jsp ...
  16. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) Who was McCarthy overpowering last year? no one. if someone wants to give up a ton of "win later" for just SOME "win now"... you do it. The guy never got comfortable in the relief role how hard is that to understand? McCarthy has shown he can be successful in this league. Sure lets win later because these prospects are all supposed to be the number one starters their advertised right?
  17. I will be so f***ing pissed at KW if this becomes official. I don't care how good these guys are SUPPOSED to be. Bmac IS good.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 02:37 AM) Runelvys Hernandez isn't even good enough to crack Charlotte's rotation. Not what he used to be. Santo put it the best.
  19. QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 22, 2006 -> 12:45 AM) actually started to notice a little bit today. Then yes the hard drive will probably fail soon so if you don't already have your data backed up, you should do so. Hopefully you have a restore disc for windows so when you do replace the hard drive you can just pop in the disc and boot from it. By the way, usually a hard drive problem wouldn't make your computer run slow, but it does happen. I recommend Western Digital hard drives. If you have any questions feel free to pm me.
  20. QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 21, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) My computer has been getting slower and slower as the weeks go on and it's gotten to the point now where it takes 20ish minutes to load up. Then today I got this message... I have an Insprion 1000 with a message stating: SMART failure predicted on hard drive 0:FUJITSU MHT2040AT-(PM) WARNING: immediately back up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent. Press F1 to continue It loaded after i pressed f1, but this doesn't seem to bode well for the future. Would just getting a new hard drive fix the problem? Then you would have to reinstall windows. Do you hear any clicking sounds from the hard drive?
  21. The only memories I have of him is giving up big homers... Crede... HUNTER... Good Riddance
  22. The guy hasn't thrown a pitch here and he's already being interrogated.
  23. It will be interesting to see how Detroit does in 06. Their good guys in their bullpen were shot by the end of the season and now they've lost Walker. Their offense will still be good, that's for sure. Minnie always surprises so I wouldn't be shocked if they held steady during the beginning of the season and made some moves at the deadline and make their usual 2nd half run. As long as their rotation stays above water they will be there. Tribe has a good rotation and a good offense. Lets see how their bullpen holds up and how some rooks do. As for us, upgraded bullpen and a few minor additions, but it all depends on our rotation. Lets see what happens with our OF too. This division will definitely be a fight throughout the whole season.
