  1. QUOTE(max power @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 09:02 AM) Who would rowand be getting benched for? I don't really watch much NL ball. Shane Victorino if I'm not mistaken.
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 08:35 AM) Danks can't be any more impressive this spring than McCarthy was a couple of springs ago, and now if you read this board, McCarthy is one of the worst pitchers wearing a uniform in Arizona. Danks may be good one day, but when the season starts he should be in Charlotte. I agree. Danks may be good, and he could be ready, but we didn't get Floyd to send him to AAA. If Floyd ends up performing well then I wouldn't mind having the rotation full and still having guys knocking on the door for a spot.
  3. We better not trade Logan for OF help.
  4. I might give the guy a lot of s***, (he deserves it a lot) but this is a win win situation for the sox. Even if he doesn't round up to be like KW expects him to, the salary alone is good for a guy like him. I hope he does have a good year and many more to come in a sox uni.
  5. We'll see how he feels tomorrow and afterwards. Take your time thats for sure. We have some guys who can close it out if Jenks needs an extra week or something.
  6. They have a right to not like AJ. So do the fans. Sometimes it is his attitude that irritates the opposing team. A lot of times lately he's been blown up to be the bad guy without doing anything. Now that I have said that, what the hell is the reason to make this article? It's pointless, it provides no insight, did I say it's pointless? I mean to really make an article like this the person who wrote it really must have nothing else to write about. If that's the case he should take a hike.
  7. Sam-Me homered for the Rangers and said, "It's good to get that one out of the way. Now I can relax. I was looking for that, so was everybody else." All or nothing again... mostly nothing... http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...s&fext=.jsp
  8. I don't read his stuff, but good anyway. Another good part about it is that I do visit soxtalk a lot, so at least I won't have to see the comments of people crying about his stupid columns... even though every once in a while I do too.
  9. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 06:06 PM) So Kenny should sign mediocre defensive players at key defensive positions? 2005 is looking like a fluke for Young, I doubt he ever touches that again. He's a good player, don't get me wrong, but he might eventually have to move to 2nd. How many teams have a payroll higher than the Sox right now? Boston, New York, the Cubs, Anahiem, and the Mets are obvious teams, with LA, Toronto, San Fran (maybe?), and St. Louis in the neighborhood. We're still the highest payroll in our division. I can see you guys b****ing if the Sox, next season, let go Dye and Buehrle and sign a bunch of Darin Erstad's to replace them (you know what I mean), but yeesh -- at least let it happen first... With the BS that we've been hearing out of KW's mouth he has a reason to b****. First were not re-signing any of our pitchers. Now we'll wait until the season ends to start negotiations with our players who are FA's at the end of the season. Don't get me wrong I don't want to give Buehrle a huge ass contract unless he shows he can get back to form and same for Dye, but vice versa. I don't know what the hell were waiting on Iguchi for.
  10. Hell without all those times he bailed Shingo and co. out of jams we wouldn't have had that 1.5 games edge over Cleveland down the stretch. Definitely wish Hermie the best!!! Good luck Hermie!
  11. You'd think Ozzie would learn to do things that made a little more sense this year since a lot of his bulls*** cost us the playoffs last year, but no here he goes again.
  12. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 01:33 PM) Has he learned English yet? He's been in the US at least 5 years now. He's known for a long time already. Remember the Parade after Hawk called on him? Lol. I actually don't really remember what he said, but the few words he said were pretty bad. Then he looked back at the team and ozzie and nodded.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 01:13 PM) Yeah, and I was completely blown away by their story about Garland taking them golfing so that they could feel more comfortable with the team and so they could pick his brain about the majors. Jon shows some serious leadership right there. Wow. I didn't hear about that. That was really really cool of him. Ditto to what you said.
  14. He probably did lose weight. All reports from the sox are that everyone came to camp fit so far... Can't wait to see some position players cough* Uribe.
  15. I am tired of this f***ing, "we can't afford them in this market" bulls***.
  16. Just search for it on youtube... theres like 3 others.
  17. Damn that sucks! I don't want to root against the guy. I like Cliff...
  18. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Feb 15, 2007 -> 04:42 PM) AM1000 is reporting that Kerry wood has fallen out of a hot tub and will miss the beginning of spring training for for pitchers and catchers. This is NOT A JOKE. 4-6 days with bruised ribs. Is there any other appropriate way to respond to this other than to laugh hysterically? LOL! I love the fact that you had to make it OBVIOUS that it isn't a joke!! This guy is a walking accident.
  19. QUOTE(danman31 @ Feb 5, 2007 -> 03:34 AM) Weird that they thought striking out more has anything to do with your OBP (from the Fields part). They made it sound as if K'ing is worse than a regular out in terms of OBP. Also good to see they aren't big Owens fans, still don't know why everyone likes him on here. More of a general thing that related to this article, but why does everyone think Masset is Major League ready? His AAA numbers are unimpressive, only his K numbers are decent. I still don't think Sweeney is that good. 10 of his 13 HRs came in Charlotte's bandbox. I'd be willing to put good money he never becomes a consistent 25 HR guy and I don't even think that's much of a statement. Remember, KW has compared Masset to Jenks. KW's praise of Masset is everywhere.
  20. QUOTE(StatManDu @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 02:55 PM) I was at a game at US Cellular Field early in the 2005 season where Chris Widger was warming up in the bullpen ... as a pitcher! Yeah that was when Viz got lit up after he was out there for a few innings because we had no one left. I remember that one game late in the 05 season where Pablo was gonna warm up to pitch... in the world series.
  21. I don't have a problem with it really. Especially since were still competitive compared to other teams. I just don't want to hear them cry broke when they need to re-sign players *cough* Crede...
  22. QUOTE(Soxy @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 10:28 PM) Ick More Minn. schools report herpes cases 2 hours, 15 minutes ago ST. PAUL - Six more schools have reported cases of herpes among Minnesota high school wrestlers. The mild form of herpes was found in 16 additional wrestlers after the Minnesota State High School League shut down the sport last week because of the virus. So far, 16 teams and 40 wrestlers have reported infections of the skin-to-skin virus. Symptoms have included lesions on the face, head and neck of wrestlers. The high school league imposed an eight-day ban on practice and competition after herpes gladiatorum was diagnosed in several wrestlers. Despite the new cases, teams were scheduled to resume practices and matches Wednesday, said Craig Perry, associate director at the league who oversees wrestling. "You can never say there's no more risk, but the suspension is done," Perry said. "It accomplished what it was intended to accomplish. ... We've been able to isolate those cases that come out of this. It helped us and it helped our programs." The source of the outbreak hasn't been determined. It was thought that it might have originated with wrestlers from Valentine High School in Nebraska who had competed in a meet in Rochester. But examinations of the Nebraska wrestlers showed no evidence of herpes. Perry said it will be up to the individiual schools to decide on when, or if, they make up for the lost matches this season. He said some have already rescheduled some meets for this weekend. I would probably quit if I were a wrestler in that area. No reason to increase an already good chance of getting it.
  23. QUOTE(daa84 @ Feb 1, 2007 -> 10:34 PM) pretty suprised traceys all the way down at 26 Yup, if you can't hit a batter you don't belong in mlb.
  24. Mike Matheney forced to retire by doctors. They said anymore concussions could cause some big health issues.
