  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:55 AM) I can't bring myself to say it no matter how likely it is, it just makes zero sense to bring in Pierre to play CF. The first step in booting Anderson's ass out the door will be leaving him off the playoff roster (if we make it) in favor of Jerry Owens. Anderson is KW's boy, I doubt he goes anywhere.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) Dye looks very tired at the plate. He's not getting his arms extended, and has been hitting a lot of choppers to the left side. He's literally the last guy in this organization though that should receive any criticism right now. Very true, he's been there for us all season long, he had to go into a slump sometime. Hopefully he snaps out of it like tomorrow because we really need him again.
  3. Crede looked like he was expecting offspeed from Krod.
  4. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:36 AM) I was talking about CC, Lackey and Santana I was referring to the past games recently where we've been shut out for the first 5 innings.
  5. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:34 AM) thats true, but I don't necessarily think its because of lack of offensive approach that was infuriating me earlier in the year, its more of the fact that we just haven't been able to come up with hits (and keep in mind we've been facing good pitchers anyways) You call those bozo's Boston tossed up at us good pitchers?
  6. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:29 AM) man the pessimism is driving me nuts around here, I know things don't look good but the season is not over it might be much harder to make the playoffs than we had hoped, but its not like we've dropped dead I think if we can hang even with detroit until next week and sweep them then we have a damn good chance at making the playoffs the recent play has been looking up, it just has not translated to wins tonights game was not as disgustingly bad as people are making it out to be. K-Rod has not allowed a run in 3 months and people are mad we blew an opportunity to score off of him? And besides that inning we only blew 1 other opportunity (less than the angels did); we had some hard hit balls that got caught, the Angels played some good defense and ended up with the win so yes it sucked, but the season isn't over The problem with staying optimistic is that you start stretching the real possibilities of things happening with lots of ifs. For example sweeping the Tigers. Not that it can't happen, but when you go from just winning every series, to winning vs the Twins and then sweeping so and so. It gets more out of reach.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) They have like 6 good relievers in their pen....not exactly like our 2 reliable guys now (might be 1 by the time the paper comes out tomorrow). I keep leaving out the green these days...
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:23 AM) The Twins have given us no reason to think they won't keep playing excellent baseball. But they don't have anything besides 2 starters. I thought they were done?
  9. I haven't been optimistic during this second half and while I think we will fall short, today won't decide that. We need to win tomorrow badly. Time for sweaty Freddy to step it up since it is a big game.
  10. Not good at all... not good at all... tomorrow is a must win.
  11. Not only was it big because we needed a W, but if Jenks would have s*** his pants who knows how the team would've reacted. Great job by Contreras the offense for squeezing out some runs. Get healthy soon Bobby, we need ya. Go get em tomorrow Buehrle.
  12. I was attending my first week or so in high school. The teacher said "a plane just hit a building in New York." I just kept doing my work since it didn't seem too bad. Then I went to my next class where the teacher had the TV on and I saw everything unfold. Prayers to all of those who lost loved ones.
  13. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 12:06 AM) Interesting arguments, glad I'm not in the middle of 'em this time. Thome -- If we could knock out some of these lefty starters he wouldn't have to face the lefty 3-4 times a game. I love Thome's contributions and cannot blast a guy with his production. McCarthy - Glad to see him get some hate finally. Deep down I think most give him a free ride tho, blaming Oz "misusing him" even though Oz was provided five starting pitchers this year. My god, blame KW, not Oz. We had Garland, Mark B, Freddie, Jose and Vaz as our rotation which in the winter was deemed unhittable. If McCarthy was to make the team he had to be a reliever. Those who blame Oz for misusing him really irk me. Batting Anderson second would not be a good idea. I love the post from one of ya who said 'I know he's hitting .290 since the all star break but when does he drive in a key run? Would it hurt him to get a clutch hit once in a while?' I got blasted for saying our bullpen sucked recently. I'll stand by it. Our bullpen sucks. Like fathom said, BMac may have single handedly cost us 3 games of late. How we only won 2 versus Cleveland at home with so much at stake is beyond me and yes Oz gets some blame for that. Our bullpen is not deep at all. We have 2 goto guys and a good closer. Once those 2 guys are unavailable what do you do? Next season we NEED some better arms. While Riske's ERA says he's not bad, the real results say otherwise. He's a mop up guy. Everyone else...well... you know.
  14. I am happy that Big Frank's still doing good! Keep it up big man. After he hit 2 homers off JG he started getting it together. He could have started cold with us, which who knows how long it would have been til he got hot. I mean I am sure Anderson could have hit 2 homers off JG at the the time. Then again maybe he would have started okay because Chicago is his "home." No one really knows if he would have started out as cold/got injured or whatever the case may be, but its really moot now.
  15. It would be nice to put together a good win streak starting tomorrow. Anyway, lets grab the W tomorrow and start off on the right foot. Give us a good game sox, pitching, defense, and offense. Go get em!
  16. Well I've called for Javy's head all season long and now he's been having some great outings. 2 great starts in a row for him. Hopefully he keeps it rolling for the rest of the season and puts an end to his 5 inning self. Good job Javy.
  17. QUOTE(beautox @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) False!, we have MacDougal and Thornton, and i trust both of them with a frest start in a save situation. Then whose going to set them up? We need Jenks. If he's gone for a few games okay, but hopefull for no extended period of time.
  18. Buehrle wasn't jumping around, get rid of him now.
  19. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 11:03 PM) Can anyone say HBP tomorrow? Lol most likely. Then AJ will say what did I do to them?
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 11:02 PM) Now that the game is over, will you consider that maybe Jenks should have been pulled prior to Sizemore's AB? As I'm sure you'll agree with me on, we need to get Jenks healthy ASAP. The funny thing is that I don't think there was more than two or three posts in that thread that said the game was over. If Jenks is hurt then we are hurt big time. Our savior in the first half can't be missing during crunch time.
  21. This game was a must win after what happened in the 9th. What a job by Thornton and to PK and AJ to lead the way. A TWO RUN HOMER BY AJ PIERZYNSKI!! and I loved the bat flip, he held on to the bat just for that reason.
  22. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) First on my offseason priorities list: get rid of Hawk. (I do genuinely believe that he holds DJ down quite a bit.) Hawk is going no where. Its been said a lot of times already that even though he can be annoying and is senile, he's a sox fan and we appreciate his love for the team.
  23. He reads it in the paper guys! It was only a few years ago.
  24. Dye should be the MVP, but with Jeter against him I doubt it. Since were talking about individual awards I want to mention how stupid the ESPN guy sounded after Lowell made the great diving grab to say that it was either Lowell or Chavez for the GG. Once again he won't win it because of Lowell being in Boston, but to not even mention Crede makes him sound like a complete moron.
  25. I have so much respect for Hermy. That guy did a lot for our team last season. Starting with getting us out of jams early in the season with Shingo and throwing 20 something innings of scoreless ball, taking over as a closer and doing a great job, then preparing Jenks for the job. This year sticking it out and trying all season long. Much respect to Hermy and I hope he continues to recover. I will give him a standing ovation when he comes in at home if I'm at the game. Hermy
